Tuesday nights from 7-10 pm our band, the Over the Hillbillies, host an open mic at the Long Hollow Jamboree:
http://www.tnvacation.com/vendors/long_hollow_jamboree

We play three sets and have guests on the second and third sets. The Long Hollow Jamboree is one of the oldest country dance halls in the Nashville area. There is great southern cooking and a fine dance floor. No smoking, no alcohol, children are welcome, great family atmosphere. We've been having full houses the last few Tuesdays.

The Over the Hillbillies are Tom Campbell, on guitar, fiddle and lead vocals; Bobby Reed on pedal steel and lead vocals; Richard Reed (Bobby's son) on drums, and yours truly on bass and lead vocals. We do a wide variety of music...as long as it is old country smile

The band can play any style for the open mic folks, and we read charts.

There is a five dollar cover charge, plenty of parking and often some well known songwriters, singers and/or musicians sit in.

Hope to see you.
Mike

Timed out the first time! I'll be in Nashville the first part of October to do Nashville Cowboy Church and The Songwriters Fest. Can I bring my Bass Guitar? I'd love to play with you guys! Good time for a coffee get together also Mike. I'll be there though for sure!

I've been searching the internet to find the Loretta Lynn event but no luck.
The link above does not contain it.

Bill, here is some info on it:

http://www.examiner.com/arts-entertainment-in-nashville/loretta-lynn-s-songwriters-festival

Popcorn is running it. For some reason, I can't find it on his own website.

Bill it would be my pleasure to meet you. I've been following your posts for a long time. This is the latest link I've found that actually contains the info, or part of it. Popcorn hasn't updated the info fully. October 2nd to the 4th looks like. So I might be doing Cowboy Church on the October 4th Mike.

Everybody just show up! Maybe it won't be so cold this year...

Regarding the songwiters festival at Loretta Lynn's in October . . .

What is going on?

The first link, reagarding this issue
(http://www.songwritersfestival.com/index.htm)
ids a link to the Summer festival in Nashville, not the Fall one in Hurricane Mills/Waverly.

The second link
(http://www.examiner.com/arts-entertainment-in-nashville/loretta-lynn-s-songwriters-festival) is a newspaper article reporting about LAST YEAR'S festival, i.e., 2009.

The third link,
(http://songwritersfestival.com/songwriters_festival_at_loretta.htm)
contains all dead links relating to registration, event schedule, etc.

So what's up?

Is this event on or not?

If it's not, I'd suggest someone delete this info as it is misleading.

Hey Allman-fan, welcome to JPF.

I just checked the third link and it does go nowhere. Looks like the festival is a little disorganized. Oh well, this is a thread for the Over-the-Hillbillies anyway so instead, come on out and hear us at the Long Hollow Jamboree sometime. smile

There's a rumor? That the Fall fest won't happen due to flooding. I'm still coming Mike, see you there!

O.K. So I got the official word now. No Loretta Lynn Fest this year due to flood damage. Looking forward to the June fest in 2011. I'll be there anyway Mike, Cowboy Church on Sunday, October 3rd, Longhollow Jamboree Tuesday, October 5th. Another fun trip for sure! Are you coming out Bill?
