Is it possible to send a PayPal payment to some one who does not have a PayPal account? If you can, how can that person redeem it?

I think they have to have a paypal account. But why wouldn't they get one? This from paypal
How It Works for the Person Receiving the Money
* After you send money, PayPal sends an email to the recipient letting them know they have money, and gives instructions on what to do next. * That person can either log in to PayPal (if they already have an account) or sign up for a new account. Signing up is free and only takes a few minutes. * After logging in to PayPal, they can either: o Spend the money online at thousands of stores that accept PayPal o Transfer it to their bank (takes 2-3 days) o Request a check (costs $1.50 and takes about 7 days)
If the person receiving the money has a PayPal Debit Card, they can use that card to access the money you sent.
Hope this helps

It's a guy that does demos for me. He said someone hacked into his Paypal account once so he cancelled it. I've been sending money orders for the demos but now my bank has jacked up the fee for the MO (trying to make even more profits I suppose) so I am balking at paying this fee, looking at how I can pay him through the net.

PayPal takes their cut from the recipient and not the payer, so it would be cheaper than a money order. There are other money transfer websites he could use. The only info you give up with PayPal is your name and e-mail address, unless you give them your bank info for transfer which is not a requirement. It's commom sense to withdraw any money that you have in your PayPal account as soon as possible. I've never had a problem with PayPal. I even use it locally in my lawn care business.

I have been using Paypal for years without problems but I have heard of people being hacked. I don't know how they hack them but I suppose anything can be hacked. People don't use strong enough passwords and I think bots(or whatever they are called) can pick them up. It is important to use symbols (#$%#@) Caps, lower case, and numbers for a truly secure password. example 10D0GhOu$e@)
notice the dollar sign in place of the S. the first O is actually a zero, and alternating Lower case and upper case. the last two symbols are done with the shift key for 20
instead of 10doghouse20
It is my understanding this type of password is very hard to hack.

I get phony e-mails occasionally saying that there is a problem with my PayPal account. They leave a link and ask for you to log in to your account. Never log in from an e-mail link. Go to the site directly. If there really is a problem with your account, it will show up on your account page. Always log out when your done.

Ben that applies to anything you do on line. Especially anything that has to do with finance. Never log in to a bank account or online finance account from an e-mail.

Western Union is RIDICULOUS!!! Paypal only charges $4.50 or less for transactions. It's free to get a Paypal account.

Is it possible to send him a personal check through the mail? It would depend on where you're sending it. I sent a personal check to a person in Canada (from the US), and they had no problem cashing it. I believe the bank adjusted it to the current exchange rate.

I am paying in US funds, that is the reason for the US Money Order. If I send a Canadian cheque in Canadian funds,I would not know what amount to make it out for, the exchange rate changes by the hour. Also, some US banks won't accept cheques drawn on Canadian banks. Paypal has been a God send for me, even though I hesitated in using it for a long time.
