The Cracker Barrel Wall Mike Parrish 2010
Verse 1 They’re old and black and white Dressed in an antique frame On a Cracker Barrel wall But no one knows their names Faces from the past Life in by gone days If they could only talk I think this is what they’d say
Chorus “We were the last of our line Just casualties in time Last branch on the tree Sold or given up for free But children never came To carry on our name And we ran out of years That’s why we are hanging here”
Verse 2 They’re faded koda-crome Dressed in a sixties frame On walls in countless homes Different faces different names But their time is running out Till they are hauled away To a Cracker Barrel wall Where this is what they’d say
Repeat chorus
Bridge I think that they might add Don’t judge and don’t be sad Cause we’re up here on display And not just thrown away
Repeat Chorus

Mike,
I'm kicking myself right now over how many times I've looked at those photos in Cracker Barrel and never saw lyrics in the images there. Just goes to show that there are songs everywhere if you just know how to look and how to mine that nugget of truth that many listeners will be able to relate to. I like what you've done with this.

Thanks Rick - I posted this to see if anyone else ever looked at those pictures and wondered who they were and how they got there - wasn't sure about how many would - thanks

"If one man can do it, any man can do it. It is true. But the real question is, if one man did it, are you willing to do what it takes to do it as well?" –Brian Austin Whitney
