I'm actually pretty happy with this one. Mixing critiques are sure welcome. John and I considered a lot of changes after I did a piano/vocal version. Now that it's got the band, it's pretty much locked in. All critiques a very welcome though... it's always good to know what doesn't work! [size:14pt][color:#333399]These Four Walls and Me There's a bluebird on my windowsill He's sheltering from the snow I'd offer something to eat But he would spread his wings and go, I'll just sit and watch him I'm enjoying his company He's a welcome visitor To these four walls and me. chorus Bluebird dont fly away Stay, as long as you can Listen to my tale of woe I'm a brokenhearted man, I lost the girl I love I'm cold and lonely And these four walls Are closing in on me. The patches where her pictures hung They get bigger every day Bluebird if I had your wings I'd let her be and fly away, Fly away to London Fly away to Paris or Rome I'd fly away from these four walls That used to be a home. chorus Bluebird dont fly away Stay, as long as you can Listen to my tale of woe I'm a brokenhearted man, I lost the girl I love I'm cold and lonely And these four walls Are closing in on me. Lyrics - John Paragreen Music, Piano, Vocal, Bass, Keyboards - Ian Ferrin Drums: Max Sivkov

Hi Ian,
This is absolutely beautiful. Your last verse is my favorite....especially "The patches where her pictures hung...they get bigger every day"...
You asked for comments on the mix...well IMHO....the only comments I can offer....the mix, the vocals, and the lyrics....are fabulous....no nits from where I sit.
You've done a great job with this. I certainly enjoyed it.
Kind wishes, Gail

Hi Ian,
Really fabulous job you've done here! I love how you just keep adding new layers of sound. I could totally hear this being used in a soundtrack.

That's a gem, Ian. I liked the earlier version just fine but this one is on the money. Nice work! Scott

Nice to hear a piano based song. Everything sounds wonderful. It really builds after the first verse and that's when it shines the most. Great collaboration.

Hi again Ian, Oh my, this is such a sad lyric, yet musicated so prettily. Your hook is very compelling, and I love how you made use of the elusive bluebird (of happiness) to set up a dramatic juxtaposition -- "fight or flight". Sounds like the he's caught somewhere in between... . Thanks for letting us hear this one. Terrific job all the way around. Cheers, Beth P.S. What's with the run on bluebirds around here anyway? Joice had one in her song "Your Eyes Are Reflecting" too! Sounds like the makings of a song challenge...

Hey Ian,
Nice work here mate. A very listenable song. I can't really add much. If there was a nit, I'd watch the patches on the strings and ( is it ) an oboe ? They could be more lush in tone. Apart from that ? Nope, no more nits, it's sounding great.
cheers, niteshift

Ian,
What a nice melody, I really liked it!
Oh....and p.s., that Jamstudios stuff isn't very easy, but I'm tryng it out, not sure I can get past the chord part...but thanks for suggesting it..

Thanks much again guys,
Beth - John Paragreen wrote the words. Yeah, this is pretty great. One of his best ever I think!
Nightshift - I agree with you that the samples for both the English horn and the strings could be better. Actually the strings don't bother me too much, but I may play around with the E. horn sample. Thanks mate!
Thanks Tammy. Re. Jamstudios, there's nothing really easy about making tracks of any sort... there's a learning curve. The thing about Jamstudios, is that it does allow non instrumentalists a way to get some functional tracks. I'm sure there's a learning curve though!
Thanks guys!
Ian
