I was pleasantly surprized and honored when Ms. Ann Mayo Muir (1nnmm) contacted me, and wanted to pen a song together. She sings a totally different genre of music than I usually write, and it was a challenge. We collaborated on the lyric together, then with her vocals and music it became the song Younger Days. She played all of the instuments as well. Still young at heart, she is a delightful lady, and we have become friends over the telephone, and plan to meet next month. You can read more about her at http://annmayomuir.com/Please let us know what you think of the song. It is a departure from what you usually find here on JPF! http://soundclick.com/share?songid=9183293Harmonies added on June 2nd..with new ending..Younger DaysKimberly Hales Kime/Ann Mayo Muir Sunflowers with shiny faces Swaying in the breeze Call up from forgotten places Sleeping memories The scent of honeysuckle And the sight of Queen Anne’s lace Walking hand in hand Feeling my heart race Chorus If you’re in the mood And love the good ole’ ways Come with me and we’ll return To those younger days Bridge Sit a spell and we can spend some perfect hours We’ll spread our blanket and share some homemade wine You build a fire, while I gather wildflowers Beneath the Carolina sun and the longleaf pine Chorus If you’re in the mood And love the good ole’ ways Come with me and we’ll return To those younger days With our toes splashing in the water Kicking up showers Keeping cool by the river’s edge Playing there for hours We'd get out our fishing gear As the sun dipped low With the fish biting, the fire lighting It made our hunger grow Bridge We can relax together as the day unwinds Let the music of katydids open up our minds And if you put your hand in mine We can do what Katy does Blending with the afternoon and the way it was If you’re in the mood And love the good ole’ ways Come with me and we’ll return To those younger days Tag Come with me and we’ll return To those younger days © 2010 All Rights Reserved

What a neat song. Ann is very talented. You should be proud of your collaboration. This is really fantastic and deserves to be heard. Hope you get more opportunities with Ann.

Hi Kim and Ann
Nicely sung and played and I agree with Ellen - it sure makes one think and long for the simpler life. Nice work from both of you here. ; ) jm

Thank you Ellen!! Yes, we could all stand the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the company of our sweethearts, and that is what I enjoyed about the meaning of this song, and to work with Annie. Thank you for listening!! Kimberly

Still sounds good Kim. I like the addition of the bv vocals.

THis song would be good to pitch for a movie production, like life time original movies. I think it would make a great theme song for the right picture.

Hi Kimberly and Ann,
What a refreshing song you have here! It was so lovely to be transported to such a tranquil place....(if only for a few minutes!)
You have both done such a nice job with this. I think that's a super idea you have...about submitting it to N.C. PTV. I wish you the best of luck with this one.
Take care Kimberly... and Ann, it was so wonderful meeting you through your lovely music.
Kind wishes, Gail
P.S. Kimberly...a while back you had asked for prayers for your husband (he was having some eye problems)...how is he doing? I'll keep you both in my prayers.

Hi Gail, thank you for asking. My husband is fine. The Dr said the retinal tear is just something to watch for now..as long as his vision is ok then it will be fine..if it changes then we have to head to the ER.
I am glad you liked this song. It is somewhat like the 20's 30's but that is the feel we were going for...thank you for listening!! Kim:)
