Hello,
I am a singer/songwriter that needs a collaborator in order to compose the instrumental part of my songs. It may/may not be difficult due to me knowing the notes I have the melodies and notes in my head. Only 2 months of guitar training, but I can also be of assistance in giving you my musical vision.

I am definitely willing to split the credits, and will be willing to do future projectsbased on the results of the first song.

Yes, I know that there are so many like me. Mentoring and constructive cassistance is encouraged, personal negative comments are not. Thanks.

I wouldn't criticise you for seeking collaborators here, but I would give you the constructive and, hopefully, helpful advice that you are more likely to get positive responses if you post a link to some examples of your original work.

I've collaborated with a few lyricists previously - check out my posts regarding the co-written songs 'You Blister My Paint' and 'Teardrops In My Muesli' - but I wouldn't enter into any discussions about working with someone new unless I had a good idea what they were capable of.

Posting some examples here is likely to attract interest from people who actually like your stuff, or who think they can do something useful with it, and it will also help to avoid time-wasters (I must write a song about those sometime).

Athena,

Do you know that there are multiple writer's nights and open mics all over the Atlanta area? I am going there next week and there are about 7 throughout the week. There are also two NSAI (Nashville Songwriter's Association International) meetings going on each month. There are the Georgia songwriter's association, Atlanta Songwriter's association, Eddie's Attick, Swallow At the Hollow. You should make sure you check out those places and meet people face to face. That is the only true way to get into the business and craft of writing.

Good luck,

MAB

Marc,

Where are you going to be next week? I've been thinking of attending an open mic for a while. If I know where you are, I'll try to make my hermit self emerge from the crab shell.

Athena, I live in the Decatur area. I'm a simple guitar player but might be able to assist in putting some chords behind your melodies at least. You can listen to my Soundclick link and let me know. I work full-time, have kids, etc., so it might take me some time. Also, if you just want someone to compose music for you, I think I know someone who could do that for you.

Hey Wendy,

I am not quite sure yet. There are two. One at a Mexican resturant and another one at a different place. I just got the e-mail from a guy over there who performs around town and lists all the nights. My girlfriend works for Diebold (The ATM people) and they have regional meetings in Atlanta. She is going next week so I decided to go over.

I can get the details and let you know. Will be back in a bit. If you or other JPF members in the area wanted to get together for dinner and have a face to face meeting, I would be happy to sit around and talk to you. And then you could see if I am as good as my blustering personality is.

I will go get the e-mail and find out where the places are. There is one on Thus. and one on Friday. I will play both of them.

I am over in the Atlanta area about three times a year. Mostly I play the "Swallow at the Hollow" in Roswell, and then in August I am on a show at Chucker Farms, a polo club in Alpheratta. That one is VERY cool. It is put on by a friend of mine named James Casto, and is under the stars, (or a pavilion) and is kind of a big tailgate party. The date I am there is August 8th.

One of the reasons I do these is to set up workshops or private lessons with people. When I am in an area I will usually take a day or two and meet with people.

So I hope this can work out. I'll be back with the info.

MAB

Thursday could work. Friday I'm going to a folk sing-along kind of thing. Duluth would be a better location for me. I'm in the Decatur area and it's over closer on my side of town, but I could try to make it over to Marietta. I don't know many Georgia folks on JPF but I'm sure there are some around. You might try Shelia Quattlebaum or Vicki Wisecup. I think GMIA was supposed to be having a meeting this weekend but it was canceled. Probably due to the holiday.

Athena,

There are two NSAI coordinators I've met in Atlanta, both very cool people. They can help you out. If you contact me privately I can give you their info, or you can look them up at www.nashvillesongwriters.com

G'luck,
Ethan

I'm a rising songwriter/producer willing to collaborate with artist across the globe. I am trying to grow as a producer and I have an album on CD Baby, Itunes, etc. If you're into being creative with an independent spirit, we can definitely work together and both grow as writers. For references, check out my rap album at www.cdbaby.com/cd/sliikd and make sure you leave a review. Thanks
