Echoes
It was 9 years ago, today ...we became man and wife. Two wide-eyed kids... startin grown folk's lives. We were lovin all night ...and sleeping all day. You showed me love ...in so many different ways.
We talked of a big house... and kids by the mile This gave you a glow ...and a permanent smile It was later that year ...that the doctor brought us gloom. Because we would never be painting ...a baby's room.
Chorus You are laid to rest ... it has left me all alone. Left with no children ...and a dirt farm, I'll never own. Couldn't give you a fortune, but you never laid blame. Now all I get is echoes ...echoes when I call your name.
We talked about a ranch ..and a two story home the perfect place we could call ...our very own. With daises in the front ...and an orchard in the back. with a swing on the side ...where we'd sit and relax.
we'd listen to birds, each day ...before they take flight. where we'd watch fireflies dance ...on warm summers nights It was three years later, and the bank said no to the house now, I am left to explain to you ...my broken hearted spouse
Chorus You are laid to rest ... it has left me all alone. Left with no children ...and a dirt farm, I'll never own. Couldn't give you a fortune, but you never laid blame. Now all I get is echoes ...echoes when I call your name.
Bridge what wouldn't let you give life... caused your demise. That was also the day ...that my heart up and died. each night I'll call...call out your name. each night the response... will always be the same.
Chorus You are laid to rest ... it has left me all alone. Left with no children ...and a dirt farm, I'll never own. Couldn't give you a fortune, but you never laid blame. Now all I get is echoes ...echoes when I call your name.

I think the chorus gives away too much to early .. but otherwise a nice write... can hear this being done like "this deck of cards" or the like.. more spoken than sung with a slow country tune in the back ground..
Cheers

Thank You for the feedback. I will be cleaning this song up and focusing on the chorus. I have not heard "this deck of cards" but for sure give it a listen. Thanks again.
