This is the final result for my 4th project for my digital illustration class. The project required us to take a sketch from our sketchbook and develop a composition around it. For now I am running out of time so I am pretty much done but I may return to it and touch it up more.

You know I'm a big fan of yours, and this is your best work so far.
I love the pagoda boats, the hair style on the bartender, the stars in the sky, and a few other minute detail items that really give this a nice authentic flair. And this is not just a picture, it's an actual story..

Really well done.
Thanks Tom, I was really trying hard to create a story element in this piece and I was inspired by the works of Norman Rockwell and how he use to compose stories in his paintings.

Glad you liked it, Tom.

I looked hard for the "partial nudity" but it's not that easy to find. Rasther G-rated, I'd think. (Your half-dressed women in tentacles are far more salacious.) And I do think you've captured here the sort of storytelling Rockwell did in his paintings, and adapted it to your own unique style. Very nice.

Thanks, I am glad it did come off that way to you. I think though it would be more in the range of PG-13 than G. Personally the whole rating system is a scam because of their practices on how they rate movies.

Joe, I thought the nudity was rather easy to find, he has a spear pointing right at it, LOL. This is another example of what I admire about Toby's work. When I view his illustrations, it's like looking through a portal to another world. I especially like the glow from the lights in this work and the facial expressions.

This is so good. Everything about it is just perfection. Good job!!
"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek
Nice work! I was going to say what everyone else has already mentioned, so, all I can add is, Wow! You are a very gifted artist and your work is enjoyable and admirable.

Thanks Tricia & Polly, I am actually not done with it yet but this is what I turned in for class. When I have more time I will be fine tuning it. The good news is that I received the highest grade in the class for this assignment.
