Hi Friends and all. This is the second song in mine and Glynda’s ‘Jackson Kelly’ story. 'Jackson Kelly' Fiddler - After He Died – song2 http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8992304------------------------ For those who haven’t heard it yet here is song1 in the set. Jackson Kelly Sure Could Fiddle – song1 The lyrics for song1 are below the 2nd song lyrics… http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8842898------------------------------------ I have to say we are both immensely proud of these two songs… ----------- Lyrics song 2 --------------- Jackson Kelly' Fiddler–After He DiedAt 12 years old I sat in the church As I did almost every week, The preacher said, ‘Old Kelly’s died. And my eyes began to weep No one in the church spoke out Most thought him a crazy man, I felt my body start to shake, As my Bible fell from my hands. Heard a voice didn’t know it was mine Twas screamin’ as if in pain It can’t be true, it can’t be true I heard it again and again. Must have gone right out of my mind, As I ran from the church to the creak, Down to where I heard him play When I hid there every week Chorus Closing my eyes I could see ‘old ‘Kelly’ Fixing his fiddle with glue, Pulling hair from his horses tail To use as string and make do. I could tell he loved that fiddle It seemed to make him whole. What he played was heaven sent And it reached my heart and soul. I went back home as the sun went down Saw a box laying beneath a tree Had a letter sitting on the top Said it was left there just for me. Said Jackson Kelly knew I’d watched And I’d listened to him play Said I leave you here my old fiddle Please make me proud one day. Chorus Closing my eyes I could see ‘old ‘Kelly’ Fixing his fiddle with glue, Pulling hair from his horses tail To use as string and make do. I could tell he loved that fiddle It seemed to make him whole. What he played was heaven sent And it reached my heart and soul. Tag: Now I'm grown-up with a masters degree and teach kids how to play Have my diploma’s on the wall next to a wooden display That where I show Kelly’s old fiddle laid so that all can see Cos that’s what made me who I am, made who I was meant to be. Jackson Kelly I sure hope that I made you proud. ----------- Lyrics song 1 --------------- Jackson Kelly Sure Could FiddleI hid behind that old oak tree Watching what Jackson Kelly would do. Heard he was crazy as a coot, Wanted to see if it was true. Was only a few feet to the creek Where he sat at the waters edge. Searched his bag and looked around While I just held my breath. chorus I was just a young boy Hiding behind a tree, Looking for adventure Wondering what I’d see. Jackson Kelly he lifted his arm, And he gave me a big surprise Wasn’t an axe or baseball bat But a fiddle that widened my eyes. He put that fiddle tight to his chin Looked up towards the sky Placed the bow onto the strings Then he began to cry. chorus I was just a young boy Hiding behind a tree, Looking for adventure Wondering what I’d see. Verse 3 He cried and played and also sung with beauty That’s hard to explain, Of love once lost and those long gone, And of deep and lasting pain. I couldn’t move was held in a trance, Seemed like eternity Time stood still for over an hour As he played so wonderfully bridge For a couple years, bout once a week, I’d sit behind that tree Listening with eyes shut tight, like he was playing for me. Then one day he upped and died and no one seemed to care, For me the world was a poorer place when he wasn’t there. I think he must have known that I’d hid behind that tree Cause I found his fiddle by my house like it was left there just for me. chorus I was just a young boy Hiding behind a tree, Looking for adventure Wondering what I’d see. Tag: That was 30 years ago, and he sure was one of a kind, Cause what I heard down by the creek Stayed forever in my mind. Jackson Kelly, he was one of a kind.

Two great sounding songs. Told quite a story. You should both be proud of this effort. The production is first rate.

I just love the fact that Jackson lives on and those who discounted him will never be known, cept as the folks that called him crazy, I know Jackson Kelly's name not theirs. Great story Glyn. Great songs Roy and Glyn.
Glyn you are rapidly becoming my hero !!!

Paul, well thank you sir for your kind words, all I did is write what I saw as a young teenage girl of this man pooring his heart into his music and pooring his pain up to the heavens and to the ones he loved and lost..his story had to be told, even though it took me most 40 years to do it....it still makes me proud to see it come out like it has..and I have Roy to thank for that...we changed it to a boy for this great singer..and you've read his story, so you can see why he was the way he was, he wasn't crazy, he was down on the world, lost his heart....family...had no reason to live happy, but in his music that he called the music of the stars....anyway, here I go...thanks for liking it...
and hey I love being someones hero.....yea......thanks glyn

Howdy Sister G, & ROYSTER, I finally found this down the page a ways. Anyone who saw the original story, and its conversion to this fantastic set of tunes, knows that Roy is a masterful guy for sure. Then the musication takes it to the next level. I've enjoyed many listens, & hope to have it in my downloads soon. ...........Helluva job.....To both of you..........Gus
