Completely immobile here! They haven't even touched the road where I live, and I heard upwards of 14 inches expected before it's all over. I forgot to get a chicken last night so I could make my world famous homemade chicken soup and bake some bread. Stuck here with the daughter and pets. We'll be playing lots of Texas Hold 'Em and watching lots of movies the next two days. Lots of time to practice guitar too! My two ducks and chicken are huddled under the picnic table in the back yard.

Hi,
not me. I guess I'm real lucky. I've seen a lot of snow but it's been a long time. I can't say as I've missed it. i was just sitting poolside, kind of a cool breeze if you're in the shade but very nice in the sun.

Well, have fun. I have heard about y'all's problems on the teevee news. Be safe.
Here on the Oregon Coast, where Al Gore was apparently unsuccessful in stopping global warming, we are cursed with sunshine (second day this month--really odd for February), temps that may hit the 70s, and I will probably stay inside for safety until it's time to drive to tonight's gig.

Hi Polly,
It is starting to get pretty nasty here today as well. Schools are still open, but probably won't be tomorrow.
I would like to try some of your world famous chicken soup...but you have to promise to try my world famous(well at least "county") Chicken Tortilla soup(has a can of beer in it)and also the bread....welll....that sounds awesome.
Anyhow....I have been playing alot of guitar today...bluesy stuff because when I look out my sliders, it doesn't make me feel too "UP"...HA.
Texas Hold 'Em....well, get out the money and let's do it...
Keep warm and think Spring and go pet that chicken and the ducks once in awhile...they need warm fuzzys as well.

Nope, I guess we prob'ly got about 5 inches total in 2 or 3 tries but it ws warm enough yesterday that a lot of it melted, so we probably have half that. It "did" get down to 2 degrees last night and a pretty stiff wind though, BUT~~~ THE SUN IS SHINING!!! Wy (I don't usually write lyrics for a female vocal, but somehow I got off on that track. Can I send you a lyric and get your ]opinion? I haven't been on the board much)

Yes, Wy, send 'em to me! I'm here! We got a break in the action, so I'm headed to Wally World (Wal-Mart) for my chicken and daughter wants a movie. I actually can't believe my road got plowed, we're usually stuck for at least a day. So, it starts back up tonight...stranded again tomorrow, but will be cooking and baking! Wish I could send you some, Janice! Cal and Joe, curse your warm weather! Send some my way! Herbie, you guys have the WIND too...it would go right through me!

Polly, I'll do my best--but I don't think whoever controls the weather listens to me. He (or She) is kinda like Nashville in that regard.

Lost power over the weekend for 12 hours. Spent most of that time shoveling roof and driveway - 12-16". Got the power back, then phone/DSL line went down. Just got that back a few minutes ago. It's already snowing here for the next round of up to 12 inches (so they say). We'll see what happens next.

The wind is howling here tonight...temps down in the teens...more snow coming down now. Shelby and I just watched "Public Enemies" with Johnny Depp, great movie! Sad though. A neighbor took my snow shovel while I was gone to Wally World, but thankfully returned it later! I keep saying I'm going to get a wood stove because if the power ever goes out, I'm totally screwed! My furnace runs on electricity, everything in the house does, no gas lines. Hope you're okay, Tom! Bob, be careful out there you nut! I hope some peeps show up for you! As for me....MASS cooking tomorrow! I'll be baking bread, making homemade noodles from scratch, my world famous chicken soup, and a Lasagna just for the Hell of it! Daughter will bake cookies and brownies, she's the dessert person. Will practice more on guitar. Hopefully learn a couple of tunes. I kinda wish snow days happened more often.

No such thing is allowed here. Got about 28 inches last Wednesday. Everyone cleared cars and driveways as soon as it just let up a bit. Three hours later,,,everyone was cleared and ready to go. It's snowing now, and we're supposed to get another 12 to 20 inches.
We haven't been hit with three major snows in one year in recorded history, and will break the total snow fall for a winter. But we're used to some snow every year, so it's just more of it. This area has the mindset of getting things done and getting back to moving asap, no matter what. I guess that's from being close to major cities, (really close Philly here at my house-about 6 miles, and about 90 miles from New York to the north, and 90 miles from Baltimore to the south). High energy area, I guess. You should drive with these people! Yikes!
The only thing I really have to deal with are my tired eyes from watching Cindy clear all that snow! Ha ha ha!

"Wino VS Dracula" He says, A wino can even deal with Dracula cause "A wino ain't afraid of nothing, accept running out of wine"This weather doesn't matter to me I'm ALWAYS snowed in.

Hey Lindsey! You're in Shelbyville (about 1 1/2 hours from me). "Shelby" is my daughter's name. Wind is blustery today. Already started my soup, doing laundry, ran dishwasher, getting ready to start the bread and noodles. Will practice guitar between bread risings. I'd make a great stay-at-home wife! Bob, that's awesome! You're right, drunks see the weather as a "challenge"..."This stinkin' snow ain't keepin' ME from going out!" I'm glad you had a good night. I can't wait until you play McCoy's again. Johnny, I'm in the country. Our roads usually take at least a day to get plowed. Everyone just stays home and chills. Mike, hang in there buddy!

I would love that too! We do some of that, while it's snowing. Just looking at it from the front picture window, eating soup and some various foods cooked to make it into a special occasion. But I would really like to just chill in the country along with the foods and scenes! Able to take the beauty in even more before having to get out there. Enjoy! Must be nice. Here, plows run a lot of the time, blocking in the driveways as we try to clear them. I will stand out there and wave them off with my shovel. (Doesn't work,,,,they win every time with those heavier-than-me trucks!) Our so called blizzard is starting up, (just medium heavy snow now,,,winds to come later). Was a mix for hours this morning, with snow last night! Wowzer! What a winter!

WoW! Now that was invigorating....a little shoveling (gotta watch the back), knocked and shook off the snow on a dozen junipers since they were bent over, alittle sledding and a long walk with my dog Isabella who loves the snow!! I'd call it a user friendly blizzard, with the winds just nice enough you can still get out in it and utterly enjoy the whole experience. Felt like a kid again! We have to have atleast 2 feet by now.

Here's my photos from the weekend storm...

And these are from yesterday...
http://www.facebook.com/greg.swartzentruber?ref=profile#!/album.php?aid=2047027&id=1464879338&ref=mf
We've had 44 inches of snow since Friday night... with compacting and a little melting that occurred Sun, Mon and Tuesday, though, I don't think there's any natural piles with more than 36 inches though... Never thought I'd see this here...

I spoke too soon. We had internet restored only for 45 minutes tuesday. Enough to leave my first reponse. Then it went out again. So almost 5 days with no internet, one day with no electricity, 2 days with no phone.
Worst part, I cut my finger, so I couldn't even sit and play guitar.
And my driveway, which I shoveled alone, is about 300 yards. I cleared that AFTER I shoveled the roof.
So now I have internet, and checked the local weather. Snow in the forecast for the next 10 days. Joy.

Tom, your and others' weather problems are a reminder of why I moved from upstate New York. We get rain here in Oregon. I like it--you don't have to shovel it. Our weather comes from the west, from countries that never let Al Gore stop global warming.
Oh, and I did hear a great comment on y'all's weather. I heard it called "stimulus weather"--it's (shall we say) shovel-ready.

Good Golly, Miss Polly:
What a week it's been here in North Central Texas. I was returning from Waco and got about halfway when the largest snowflakes I've seen in years began falling. Thankfully, I got home just in the nick of time. We only got about 2 1/2 inches here in Glen Rose but places in and around Dallas got a foot or more. One day later, it began melting and now the roads and sidewalks here are clear again.
Hope the rest of you enduring "Global Warming's Big Sister" are snug and warm.

YIKES! Brrrrrrrrr......
Some folks a bit north of us had some snow this morning - NOTHING like ya'll have, though. If it comes down at all, it's a big deal and everyone flips out. We're having a typical Louisiana February with rain for the past 24 hours, mud, mud, slush, yuck, and damp cold. But I prefer that to August...
Hoping it'll dry out so I can go to a parade tomorrow. Need to re-stock on Mardi Gras beads. (Yeah, right...I have an attic full...)
Stay safe & warm, everyone. Brenda

Here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, we had the most snow ever recorded in a 24 hours period since records have been kept. My biggest problem was keeping my boys off our roof- I caught them skiing down the roof with a wake board- right off the edge into a snow drift. I was mad as hell because we just got the roof replaced after a hail storm last year. But my wife reminded me that they are just boys being boys and when are they going to see this again in Texas?
TCU, the college where I work in Fort Worth, has trees and branches down all over campus but no crushed buildings or cars, so if doesn't freeze tonight, we will probably only see a few snowmen left to testify to this storm by the middle of next week.

Wish I could send some Louisiana weather up there - well, some of today's Louisiana weather, anyway. It's sunny but "cold" (for us, haha) -- which would no doubt be a wonderful break for those snowed in.

We had freezing rain last night, so we're iced in again. Getting some stnow on top of it now. Interstate 40 is closed both ways just east of town.

This sucks I gave up my farm in Michigan. Lost at least $50 K on it. I had a buyer at $15k less than I owed and he just backed out. I'll probably wind up letting the bank take it back (that's foreclosure for the uninformed)Time to cut my losses. Heck they are practically giving houses away up there. My Neighbors house was appraised at $145,000.00 three years ago. It just sold for $20,000.00
Figured I'd move to Nashville where the music is and enjoy the nice weather. Now I'm learning I'm wasting my time 'cause nobody gets cuts anymore unless your in the "club" and it's the worst winter they've seen in 15 years in Nashville. AND It seems to be snowing more here in Tennessee than it is in Michigan. Snowed in? In more ways than one.

I am not snowed in, this is Chicago, it just doesn't happen here. I am, however, "broken ankle-d" in. I slipped on ice last Tuesday and went down badly on my ankle fracturing the Fibula. I can get around a little, but it is still too sore to want to do too much.
