How These Walls Cry

Through the years I've seen many things
Some I wish i had not seen
I've seen men come and go
Some go home and some go
well, you know.

It's a shame it took this to bring me to my knees

It doesn't matter who you are
the roughest, toughest, meaniest of men
With all kinds of tattoos
There will come a day when you'll have to bend

You know when somethings going down
there's any icy wicked chill in the air
and it's thicker than ice
so you better think twice
Before you show anyone that your scared

it's seeping through the walls
like fingers reaching out for you
stops you in your tracks
afraid to breathe or even move

No one makes a sound
As evil floats around
but, at night man you should see
How these walls cry.

How these walls cry....

My Mama revered the Lord
She said, son you'd better be good
Or you'll go straight to hell
well it feels like I am in this cell

Mamma did what she could
But you can't stop these walls from closing in
At times I swear I hear them talking
I pace the floors spend hours walking
At anytime my life could end

When my mamma cried for me
i just laughed right in her face
Now her wisdom I ignored
Has put me in this place

No one makes a sound
As evil floats around
but, at night man you should see
How these walls cry

How these walls cry

(Bridge)
Well, if I could get out for just one day
you know just what i'd do
i'd get down on my knees
and kiss that woman's feet
Tell her I was such a fool

I've seen a man kill another man
just for sitting on his bed
Life means nothing behind these bars
just look at someone wrong and your dead

Yeah they act so tough swearing, cussin' and fighting
At night the damned lay still scared by a little thunder and lighting

No one makes a sound
As evil floats around
but, at night man you should see
How these walls cry
How these walls cry

Hey You! Again! smile

Again with this song? LOL Well maybe many new folks here haven't heard it.

Even with it's subject matter, I still smile when i hear it cause I know how happy & proud it makes you and the others.
I'm the first one to beat myself up musically every day or other day... But I was on that night when I layed down every instrument live one after the other then the vox.. all alone.
Ya know what that's like? You wanna look at over somebody and smile or giggle and you can't smile Definitely in the groove! The zone baby lol...

Mike

Thanks!
Peace Mike

This is some of the most interesting lyrics I've heard for a long time all tightened up with: "you should see
How these walls cry."
Great track and hot performance on every instrument.
Strong vocal and a good arrangement keeping the listener interested all the way through.
Very very Cool!
Ken

Thanks Ken

I really like these lyrics too, they say but they don't say too much. Must credit Derek Hines for laying out the ground work of this song musically...

I was very happy to get such a live vibe like this, tracking singularly.

Glynda I'm so happy we did this.. It's forever!
That's why sometimes you just have to "do it" can't wait for deals or others etc.... You gotta take steps and make stuff happen.

I was so happy to hear how so many of our troops were digging this song over seas. Who know how far it spread around there..

You did a great job there are GREAT lines in here and very cool descriptive and vague writing. Also Caroline and Derek's contributions, very very cool.

I really appreciate that you always promote me and say the kindest things. It's like family that way! Well some anyways lol
Thanks

Now I'm blushing again okay ask me for anything "I'll do it" lol

I didn't think I was gonna be able to sing it, but it felt very natural to me. And it sounded like "I wrote it" that is what you want a singer to do for your song...
Drumming & Vocals were my biggest improvements these past few years. I did alter and create some melodies in here so that helped me approach it better.

Thanks Polly they did give something very cool to work with...
All good people....

Ha - you shouldn't feel bad about reposting this, Glyn. Playing a track by Sub is a humbling experience - and that's always a good thing. grin

I enjoyed this production! Kudos to everyone involved. I gotta spend more time at the MP3 side, instead of just the lyric 3 zone--lots of great stuff happ'nin!

Great song Glyn. Critiquing Mike's production to me is like critiquing Emeril's cooking. So I won't because I can't.

I wasn't thinking Santana, it sounded too original to me. Don't know what kind of arrangement you folks have, but if it's a demo, take it and fly.

Excellent tune, Glyn and Mike! I do hear some sims to Carlos Santana as has been said and he's a hekuva picker -- but I'm still partial to Glenn Campbell myself. smile

Great tune! Lyrics, vocals and production all came together for you in a big way! Not sure if I would classify this as country although I know there are many sub categories such as alternative, country rock etc. None of witch really matter. This is an outstanding song. Best of luck with it!

Thanks and I for sure couldn't have done it without Derek coming in and rewriting this one and then Caroline did the smoothing out on it...Derek laid the melody down, he did a practice demo on it and I was in love with it then, it sat around for a while, and went nowhere so i got in touch with Caroline and we had Mike to Produce it for us...I could not have done any of this without Derek, Caroline and of course Mike....thanks to all of you..glyn
