Waited There (02.03.10)
(A) She came around the corner of a building, made her way across the street to me. Then she rested her head on my shoulder. Wiped away a tear, sighed quietly. In the crowded street we stood alone and for that moment it was only her and I. Held her tightly to feel safe, to give her comfort. Waited there as the crowd just rushed on by.
(A) Somewhere out on the street I think a horn blared. Sure I felt a push come from the crowd. The day that started sunny had turned chilly as the noonday sun was hidden by some clouds. Spied an empty bench outside a bistro as the couple that was there moved along. Lead her there and sat right down beside her. Waited there until she sang her song.
(B) Waited there as she cried out, “I'm sorry.” She pushed back her hair, her tear drops fell like rain. Waited there why she explained her story. Let lies take control and cause her pain.
Waited there while she struggled for composure. Shouldn’t have second guessed at what she heard. Waited there while she waited for some closure. As all around us the whole wide world stirred.
(A) She dropped her head the moment she was finished. Lifted her chin and gently kissed her lips. She turned away mumblin’ something about her make-up. But then turned back saying it was something she could skip. We watched the rushing crowds for a moment. Both quiet and lost to or own thoughts. She placed her head again there on my shoulder, waited there rooted to that spot.

"Whether your next song is #1 on Billboard, or a critical failure by all measurable standards, go look in the mirror. You are the exact same person you were the day before your received the news. Never forget that." -Brian Austin Whitney
