Okay, so it's a local spot. A VERY local spot (just in the far north suburbs of Chicago). And it's a spot for a friend's restaurant. But, it's still exposure and he's still paying me.
That's a first for me.
Okay, so I tried telling him that I didn't want to take his money, as he needs every penny that he has, opening a new restaurant. But he is insisting. So... I'm getting paid. Cool. Maybe I'll take that money and record another song with it. Why not?
And, FYI, if you're curious: It's an instrumental that I've included on my new album that he just thought sounded "right" for the spot. A strange, strange instrumental. But people seem to like it.

Congratulations! I've gotten boots, free meals, thanks, and had my carpets cleaned for doing radio spots. Money is great!!! Make sure you get a copy of the spot itself to put in your demo. Strange is good.
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

Strange? Did someone say that wonderful "S" word? As Mike says "strange is good" - except no one remembers your name. Congratulations Todd! Hope the restaurant's a success and he continues to use your strange tune. Best, John

Heya Todd! Awesome & what a hoot!!!
Whatcha should do next is write a specific song for your friend's restaurant....Perhaps not as long as Arlo's for his friend Alice's, but something catchy & upbeat...He's gonna need a new commercial someday, right?
