This is a nice story, Kevin. I like it that you didn't go for the Hollywood ending - makes it feel more real. This is well suited to Jeff's style too - and he did a nice job modifying some of the lyric to sing well to his melody.
Good one!

Scott,
Thanks for listening and commenting. You are right about Jeff he's got a way of making lyrics work. I didn't fix the changes he made on the lyric sheet and you picked up on that. I thought about Christams with just him and the cat but what the heck it's the holidays so I'm glad they both ended up having a nice time.
Merry Christmas Kevin

Hey Scott.... thanks for stopping by and taking a listen... appreciate the comments... The only word I didn't mean to change and did was "danced" to "glistened" in the final chorus. I have to re-record that... for some reason I could not get that out of my head.. but danced goes so much better there...
And Kevin you know... it's always a pleasure to work on your songs with ya... we might not make a million bucks... but.... who cares anyway... thanks for the great lyrics...

Kevin, Jeff,
I think this really does the lyric justice! I love the feel of it, and I can certainly imagine a real nice arranged version with this melody.
Another great one, boys!
Next, let's hear some uptempo material :-)

Magne,
Thanks for the nice comments. If you have any jingle bells to add to the track I'm sure we'd all love that. As far as the up-tempo stuff ...well you already know me pretty well and the next one'll be about my first one.
Merry Christmas Kevin

Fine writing and Jeff brings it to life very well. A very realistic and well thought out story. I think the bridge might need a little more change up musically, but it's not that big of a deal.

I'm with redwing...but, my lil' pea brain isn't sure...is Sara Johnson the "mom" and is she single? Is that who he'll spend future Christmases with? Jeff, you have a nice voice!

Gosh Kevin
You never seem to disappoint me with your different spin on a typical story... I like how you handled the ending. Jeff sad vocals suit this well. jm

Hi Kevin,
I like that lyrically, there is so much said without actually saying it. Musically, I think the guitar/vocal works because it's so stark and Jeff's voice is so raw and emotional. Nicely done.

Hey Kevin,
I've meant to comment on this several times... but every time I listen, I get all misty and can't see the keys to type!
Needless to say I enjoyed it -- and think it would make a great Hallmark Christmas movie (if someone has already said so, forgive me). At the end of the day, I'm a sentimental old fool, and lyrics like these pull mightily at my heartsrings:
Cat searches the house... Least once a day hopin.. to find her Maggie, ..hidin away Up and down the stairs..through every room To tell the truth... he's been lookin too
Jeff's poignant musication does a nice job of selling it without pushing it over the top -- a challenge for a song like this.
There, I did it -- phew! Thank you both so much for sharing this heartwarming story.
Cheers, Beth

Redwing, Thanks, yes I was glad they all had a nice Christmas too.
Ricki, More nice words to a lyricists ears, thanks..yes Jeff did it perfectly.
