Terry Strickland wrote this very moving lyric and allowed Curt, Daniel and me to join in on the Music. We hope to have a Work-Tape posted in a few days and we always appreciate you suggestions, ideas and Critiques.

Sincere Thanks,

David, Terry, Daniel and Curt

Forgotten Memories

Verse:
His words paint a picture
Of a wedding in '59
She says it sounds so beautiful
I wish it could have been mine

It was honey, it was yours
Were the words she heard him say
And you're just as pretty now
As you were that day

Chorus:
He brings her forgotten memories and tells her things her mind canít see
How she loved wild violets, Lucky Strikes and homemade ice cream
That on Sundays she was the first at church and the last one to leave
He brings her forgotten memories

Verse:
He pulls out a letter and said it came this week
It's from our daughter Jessie then he starts to read
It's all about our grandkids and how they send their hugs and prayers
She just looks up and smiles and drags a comb through her hair

Chorus:
He brings her forgotten memories and tells her things her mind canít see
How she loved wild violets, Lucky Strikes and homemade ice cream
That on Sundays she was the first at church and the last one to leave
He brings her forgotten memories

Bridge:
She leans her head on his shoulder and says I know that cologne
You wore it on our first date and you were late takiní me home
Thatís why he wears it Ďcause itís the only memory thatís clear
She remembers just one night from their last fifty years

Chorus:
He brings her forgotten memories and tells her things her mind canít see
How she loved Marty Robbins, Bear Bryant and Jackie Kennedy
How she got that scar falliní off her bike when she was just thirteen
He brings her forgotten memories,
She loved white chocolate, wearin' his flannel shirts and drive-in movies
He brings her forgotten memories

Hey David,

This is very touching. My grandmother passed from alzheimer's and it really hit me hard as I read thru this. It's hard for me to say anything more than that at the moment. Brings back too many memories of the way it was in her final years. She meant the world to me and I miss her a lot. She was a true angel. My regards.

Best wishes,

Wes

My parents reached their 50th in 1990 and I flied down to Florida for a visit at the time. Told them there won't be too many goldens celebrated by my generation because people don't have the same kind of commitment that folks of their area did. My dad passed in 1996, my mom in 1999.

Peace,
Brian

Oh...this is so beautiful. Reading it, I'm reminded of the first and best movie about Alzheimer's that I watched - the notebook. it's so sad to have forgotten - but the love of the couple left loving is wonderful

Really a Touching One, Guys!

No Nits..&..it brings back forgotten memories of my Gram & Gramp's final days in the rest home. (Gramma thought my Mom was Her Sister..as the Alzheimer's took its toll.)

Real Sweet Song...Good Luck with a Good'n', Gents!

Best Wishes/Congratulatory Guy-Hugs all-around!
Stan

Hey guys...my thoughts...

first....I think you can get away with a progressive chorus, the first line in the chorus seems too long to sing well and flow with the rest of it. maybe the line could simply be condensed...
he talks forgotten memories, tells her things her mind can't see...and possibly drop the bracketed chorus here and come up witha last line that's something he wishes she remembered, like him...for example.

second...more detail! some introspective of her life..is she in a nursing home? is her her primary care giver at home? why can't the grandkids come see them?

third...the bridge..well, I can see this as two lines...then the last chorus can maybe have her talk about forgotten memories.

kos, jmo's here...

Hey David,

I'm 71 and wonder if it will happen to me. Very, very good picture! I can close my eyes and see them. Keep up the good writing vibrations.
