Hey everybody!!
If one lyric could describe your day today, what would it be?(it could be yours or someone else's).
For me today it would have to be:...."Love of mine, someday you will die,but I will be close behind and I'll follow you into the dark"...Ben Gibbard.

I woke up today so weak & dizzy that I spent 90% of it so far on the floor.
Stand up to the blow that fate has struck upon you, Make the most of all you still have coming to you, Lay down on the ground and let the tears run from you, Crying to the grass and trees and heaven finally on your knees
Let me live again, let life come find me wanting. Spring must strike again against the shield of winter. Let me feel once more the arms of love surround me, Telling me the danger's past, I need not fear the icy blast again.

Yeah, that would be something from The Eagles:
Take it easy, take it easy Don't let the sound of your own wheels Drive you crazy Lighten up while you still can Don't even try to understand Just find a place to make your stand And take it easy

Yesterday when this thread started I had an interesting day but I still can't think of a lyric to describe it. Any suggestions?
Here's the story: I promised my family that I would lay new sod on my parents graves. I went to the cemetery and began removing the old sod with a shovel. I had to dig about an 8 inch deep square around the graves so that the new sod would lay flush with the ground. Imagine what the cemetery workers thought seeing someone with a shovel in a graveyard digging around a grave. The supervisor drove up and asked what the hell I was doing. I told him that I was preparing the graves for new sod. After he was convinced that I wasn't a grave robber, he said that I should have contacted him first. He actually sent some workers to help me finish the job.

"You May Be Right...I May Be Crazy... But It Just Might Be a Lunatic..You're Lookin' For..."
(Sold 2 junk Grandfather Movements in 1st 15 minutes I was open for $50..to a guy who'll use the gears for a Costume Party..& the guy then gave me a Name to a Composer-Friend of his in Largo..that just may help me with the Songwriting Career...)
YESTERDAY I hadda go Back..44 mile round trip..to St Pete to re-examine a GFC I'd sold to a nice couple 13 years ago. I'd re-oiled it a week ago..'cuz Hr. Strike was sticky..BUT it hadn't fixed the problem. THIS trip, I took off the Dial..discovered "Stopwork Gears" outta-mesh on Strike. Her Hubby'd apparently wound that one Backwards a time-or-two. BUT..both She & Hub..over the phone..were convince it was All My Fault/&..who was I to argue.. I fixed the problem...Free...then mentioned I'd admired her Smallest of Three (BIG) Staghorn Ferns out-front. I'd had my eye on the Smallest..since I've never seen ANOTHER like it in over a Decade!
I helped her remove 4-5 small TREES that'd rooted on-toppa her Fern's Ball....then carefully cut away a nice l'il "Starter" for me to propagate. It's a "Silver Variegated Staghorn"...she says..&..heh...I've HUNGERED for this plant for over a DECADE!
Well-Worth the 44 mile trip, methinks...AND the 10-year Wait!
"Turn out the Lights...Don't Try to Save Me!"
Best Wishes, Stan

Ben was asking for a song to sum up his day.....well I don't know Ben.....but after hearing about your day and those cemetery workers reactions......the song TITLE(not lyric) that came to mind ......"Let's Give Them Something To Talk About" !!!! lol!!!
Just pickin' at 'ya Ben.....that was a nice gesture.

Wow,sounds like a few bad days here. Ben,try this one:...."A ribbon printed with last respects laying in the gutter.....there's a lonely dove out on the telephone wire,I turn my head and she flies away".......(Freedy Johnston). (for me) Today would have been:....."Anymore and I might learn to leave things as they stand-people do what they like, that much is sobering.".....Peter Kingsbery(cock robin). By the way...thanks Gail.

Today it would be from The Hard Way by Mary Chapin Carpenter
Caught up in our little lives, there's not a lot left over I see what's missing in your eyes; you're searching for that field of clover So show a little inspiration, show a little spark Show the world a little light when you show it your heart We've got two lives, one we're given and the other one we make And the world won't stop, and actions speak louder Listen to your heart, and your heart might say Everything we got, we got the hard (everything we got, we got the hard way) Everything we got, we got the hard way (Because the world won't stop) hang on, baby...
Good question:) Kimberly

"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Well have some trouble dialing in the right sound today, so feeling mostly like JJ Cale:
Guitar man, tell me what your secret am Tell me please, can you put my mind at ease When you're standing in the spotlight With all the girls around
I was wondering how you do it How you make that sound, guitar man Tell me what your secret am Tell me please, can you put my mind at ease
Your fingers move so swiftly Across those silver strings It looks so nice and easy How you make it sing, guitar man Tell me what your secret am Tell me please, can you put my mind at ease
Guitar man, in a guitar jam Playing low, playing slow Playing loud, working the crowd Playing high, you seem to fly Guitar man, tell me what your secret am
Uh, hey man, have you seen my Stratocaster Hand me that Gibson over there, will you Let my try your Martin, man Do you mind Plug it in that Marshall Turn it up a little bit louder

After sitting in my backyard in the sun, cool breeze out of the east off the lake, birds singing, bees buzzing, the beginnings of a new song in my head, a cold Mike's Lime in my hand, and my soul mate siting next to me, it's gotta be "What a Wonderful World"!

Today the words are:
You've got to accentuate the positive Eliminate the negative Latch on to the affirmative Don't mess with Mister In-Between
You've got to spread joy up to the maximum Bring gloom down to the minimum Have faith or pandemonium Liable to walk upon the scene

There are several lyrics which describe my life today.
I stopped in the Hardee's for a biscuit and all the women behind the counter said "Hey Good Looking."
Then I was stopped by a police woman and when she got up to my car she said you can go because "You Are So Beautiful To Me."
Then, on the rest of my drive to work, I kept singing "It's Hard To Be Humble (When You're Perfect In Every Way."
Would I lie to you?

My day:
(Chrissy Hynde) "I'll stand by you...won't let nobody hurt you....I'll stand by you....and I'll never desert you..." my daughter was diagnosed with an eating disorder. Her psych appointment was today, but she was too busy throwing up to be able to make it. She is weak, frail, and quite frankly, making me scared.
I found out a dear friend of mine died Saturday, and then another one tonight. So my thoughts to them:
(James Taylor)"The sun is surely sinkin' down/but the moon is surely rising So this ol' world must still be spinnin' 'round And I still love you...
Only close your eyes, you can close your eyes, it's alright. I don't know no love songs, and I can't sing the blues anymore. But I can sing this song....and you can sing this song when I'm gone."
:-(

Polly,
Any normal parent would be scared shite less. You are doing the right thing by being a little scared. These things are overcome all the time, just keep supporting her and get to the bottom of it.
I am as of now thinking positive about you both(though I do not know you two). That is an awesome choice by JT....see also.."shower the people".That will put us all there.
It will all be fine in the end,
Mac.

Hi Polly
I think that my worst fear in life is that one of my children will become ill.My sixteen year old daughter has severe depression and anxiety disorders and its very scary,so I definitely can relate. It sounds like you are already taking the necessary steps to help her to deal with this issue, but she will be fine because she has a mother who would fight the devil himself to help her...I think I mentioned before Polly,it would probably really surprise you to find just how much we probably have in common...You and your daughter will be in my thoughts and prayers...Take care
Michelle

Gosh Polly,
I'm so sorry to hear about all you're going thru. I bet you could use Andy's strong arms around you right about now, huh? (he should be here soon, right?)....
I hope you have some fine, fun and fond memories of the two friends you lost....and that your daughter will allow herself to seek out and follow thru on the treatment she needs. You'll need to get support too during this process, so good luck.
And oh yes, as Mac said -- good choice on your lyric....
Take care, Beth

Oh, thank you so much, friends! Shelby got on a higher dose of Prozac and an anti-anxiety med called "Ativan". She's better now. She was looking scary, her shoulder blades sticking out, etc., but today she ate 1/2 a grilled cheese, some cheese curls, some grilled chicken, and some Wheat Thins Crips. I am going to buy her a BUNCH OF JUNK tomorrow...chocolate cake, donuts, whatever will put some calories on her. She sees the doctor again Thurs. and psychiatrist Friday. She's a beautiful kid who thinks she's hideous...just like someone I know very well. My high school friend, Don, had lymphoma, but my second FATHER, Kenny Shlewinskey, owned a bar that I "grew up" in when I was 21, and treated me like a daughter. He loved my friends and me so much, and was very protective of us. I had come off of the road with a band and didn't really know my friends anymore, and Kim (my friend from teen years took me in) and we were always in this little neighborhood hangout. Kenny always looked out for us. I later worked for him and we talked a lot. Once, when my daughter was 6, I didn't have money to throw her a party, and he paid for it. He always treated us like family, and never let us leave with "bad boys" LOL! What hurts more than anything, is that I never got to really look him in the eyes and THANK HIM for what he did. All those years. He was such a sweet man, and so good with people. I never got to express my appreciation and I never got to say goodbye. He treated me better than my own father did. Andy was so wonderful, as always, and tried to console me saying that Kim, Barbie, Mickey and I were the sunshine of his day and he was happy to look after us. We were good girls, but we sure had fun! Kenny used to do this "auctioneer call" to clear people out of the bar after last call...it went "Go-on-on-on-go-on-on-git-along-on-on-move-along-on-on-don't-drink-no-more-git-along-on-on-don't-stop-just-go-git-along-on-on-on...":D He was the sweetest man God ever created, and he was a religious man as well. He was faithful to his wife, Marie, and all the barmaids there were like, over 100 years old! They were God awful in service, but they were tough and knew how to rule the roost! Oh, Kenny, May ye be in Heaven a good half hour before the devil knows you're dead! Cheers, to the sweetest man who ever made me feel like a pretty girl who could do whatever I put my mind to. He liked to grab our earlobes...was a weird obsession of his. Oh Kenny, if I could just touch your earlobe before they lowered you into the ground, and just thank you, I'd have been so much more consoled. Thanks for letting me purge. I needed that.

"If one man can do it, any man can do it. It is true. But the real question is, if one man did it, are you willing to do what it takes to do it as well?" –Brian Austin Whitney
