So, who are the winners? Have the results been posted somewhere? I'm only slightly curious, of course!

No listing of the Winners??? We, too, were double nominees for Best Cajun Album, "Better Get Ready... MOJO's In Town!" and Best Cajun Song, "Gonna Take Ya To The Country!" If anyone discovers an announcement of the winners we'd love to know! MOJO & The Bayou Gypsies www.redhotmojo.com

oh my i'm excited about the possibility but I don't want to take it for granted, if someone recorded the show somehow... meanwhile i'll wait for the official list . can't help to be excited though if confirmed I need to make a press release . I wish I had been there, we were about to go, but the possible sponsor we got for the trip, didn't go ahead

I can confirm that you won first place for one of them, Priscilla, I heard it while on break from playing in the house band. Also, I'd take whatever Andrew says to the bank. I guarantee you took firs place for either Best New Age Song or Best New Age Album, and probably both. Congratulations.

Brian was pretty tired when it was over last night, We had been there from the morning and it was about 1am when I left and Brian was still there.
I'm sure he'll post the winner's schedule when he regains consciousness.
In the meantime, it was a wonderful award show. The Wild Horse, a fairly large venue, was full. There were acts from all over the world, I believe close to 40 performed. The night before at B.B. King's we had 50 performing acts. Only a few folks played both nights. Anyone watching at home saw a fine show.
The JPF Music Awards is undoubtedly the largest, most inclusive music award contest in the history of the world. At both show's, B.B. King's and the Wildhorse, the performers were all award nominees. They represent the best of indie music. Friday night, I said that this was what radio SHOULD sound like.
Congratulations to all the nominees and winners. Congratulations to all of the entries. This is truly phenomenal in the fullest sense of the word. The crew at both B.B. King's and the Wildhorse were completely blown away by the level and variety of the music. They'll be talking about it all over Nashville. Hopefully this year, JPF will begin to get some long deserved recognition and this can only be good for the entire indie music community.
All the Best, Mike

Namaste! Any news about who won the JPF Music Awards "Best Indian Song 2009"?
Our band JALEBI Music song "Radha Govinda Kirtan" was nominated.
We know that competing with incredible musicians such as AR Rahman who just won TWO (!!).... 2009 Oscars...Best Original Score and Best Song... for his soundtrack for the blockbuster movie "Slumdog Millioniare".... our chances of actually winning ....were pretty slim! But we can dream can't we? (smile)
In any case, we feel it is an honor and that we have in some way already won just by having our names on the same page with those other 19 very talented and wonderful artists and musicians!
A huge healt-felt THANK YOU goes out to all the JPF Music Awards staff, participants, and supporters!
Congrats to pRISCILLA and all the other 2009 JPF Music Awards winners!
Hare Krsna! Namaste, baby! : )

Good Mornin' Jim & Y'all....!!!!.. (Jim got excited and didn't answer your question till down further, sorry)Congratulations Priscilla!!...I was so tickled when I heard your name announced twice!!......and I'm almost positive you won both album and song...I was thinking darn..I wish that gal could have been there.... Bill R where were you??...I kept looking and looking..and asking folks... It was an incredible time.....meeting Brian!..and Shandy and Ozone Pete...and Tom!!....and seeing Mr. DeFoot (Mike D) again..who did an incredible job on the bass..playing all styles of music! Wish you all could have been there... Got to hear Shandy perform and got one of his CD's...He really has a wonderful style and cool voice.... I met a lot of other nice folks... Danny Ellis and his wife... (Danny sang a lovely celtic ballad and placed twice in both Celtic songs and Album)..and took the lyrics category with 800 Voices. My family sat at his table.....and Frank Senior's (and producer Jacob)table... Frank is a jazz vocalist from NYC... Also talked quite a bit with Robert Winstin and his wife..Robert is a pioneer in the Classical Contemporary genre.. He placed a couple times with his songs...and Fawn...who took the Dance (Pop?) genre both song and album....and a gal who stopped her tour in Canada to come down for the awards... in Roots...Kim Beggs....Also was neat to say Hi to Razzy... He just kind of came in sat down with the rest of the folks... speaking of which...Missed seeing you Bobbie...and hope all is well....!!...(got my official state of Tennessee badge... ... on Friday and walked in to the Governor's Books From Birth Foundation.....and talked with Mr. Gayden and dropped off a couple copies of Imagination! Mary Beth Ikerd confirmed they published an article on Imagination in Signpost...so am so excited to see that!!!... Tammy Edwards was a finalist! ( and I think runner up) with her song in Contemporary?..Tammy were you there? I kept looking for you too.... Halie Loren who writes a lot with Ande Rasmussin...won at least One Best..and has a lovely voice..and is a lovely gal.... ***** On the Lyrics, ? Jim and Frankie?....I had a tough time hearing the names .... I can tell you 1st 2nd...5th and 6th...... but can't tell you 3rd and 4th.... I wasn't sure I heard my name called ...but got the certificate...so I think I must have..... If I heard right.... 1)800 Voices ...Danny Ellis. 2)On The Run..Byron Walls 3) 4) 5)I Want To Run Beneath The Raindrops ...(Kaley Willow) 6)Inside The Moment...Tim Perry Ozone placed at least once (Ozone Pete...was a writer here when I first started writing and gave me encouragement on three songs ...Cool how much that encouragement meant that I can remember the songs and what he said... Daniel Ho...who posts here...won and placed ...... hmmmm...I know I'm forgetting others....sorry. Many styles of music performed... beautiful brass...inspiring gospel...celtic...rock!!...(great lil gal...by the name of Jasmine Cane...who took a lot of awards was dynamic!!... and was very down to earth...talked with her)... I met a few of the children's artists...and it is incredible just seeing Wy & my name with these folks....really Brian and Linda ..hats off to you.....With a handful of helpers you pulled these nights off super well.....Karen Moore was so super out front and such a nice gal... We had to leave right after the group song...which was so much fun to sing!!.... Son off to college the moment we got back on Sunday...and daughter to bed...as she started a new school this morning. Will be neat to see the winners listed....as I know there were more folks that post here hugs and best...... kk

We still haven't heard many winners but I guess the list will be up tomorrow. You had quite a week with the moving, awards, school start and all. Time to take a deep breath <G> Wy

Hi Guys,
My apologies for taking so long to post the winner lists. I won't bore you with the myriad of reasons but it's up now and I think tonight I will get my first full night of sleep since sometime back in March... It was an amazing night and overall weekend. The PreAwards showcase was exactly on par with the awards show which is what we meant it to be. A couple performances each night literally took my breath away and I've seen over 25K artists live in the last 12 years so it takes a lot to surprise and astonish me. It was amazing!

Definitely happy that I won Best Techno Song. I won that same category in 2006 also. I was hoping for Best Electronica Album (won second) but oh well, can't win 'em all :-) Five total nominations is plenty for me.

ah I wish i had been there, I was about, the damn sponsor for the flights stepped back. Still next fall i'm going to stop at least briefly in quite a few towns, i'll post in time to see if we can make a fast greeting. And for sure, If I ever stop to be close i'd love to perform for you. i'm still seeking for someone who could share the ceremony, in synclive they don't seem to have it archived to re-watch, i'd love to see my friend Jeff Oster performing... congrats to all the winners, i'm way to excited, and i announced in the facebook and got over 50 lovely replies about it :), thrilled . Are there banners for winners or something?

Jeff Oster was one of the greatest performances we've ever had with his duet with Michael Manring.. it was BREATHTAKING! He mentioned he was a friend of yours Pri. Congrats on the double win!

Jeff Oster also played trumpet and flugelhorn as part of the awards show house band. He played a delightful solo for Rebecca Zapen's song "Japanese Bathhouse." He is THE new age trumpet/flugelhorn player, having done much work for Wyndham Hill records with such artists as Will Ackerman.
Bob Malone was the keyboard player and bandleader. Bob is a staple in the L.A. session scene, you can hear his piano on several t.v. shows. Bob's also a singer/songwriter himself, having won JPF Best Male Singer award in the past. He absolutely floored last week's award show crowd with his song "Why Not Me." Bob is like a cross between Dr. John and Tower of Power.
The drummer was Rich Malloy. He's worked with Brenda Lee, Kim Richie, and Rod Picot. He played as solid as a rock, but was able to step out and dazzle as the song needed. Rich was recommended by Ed Toth, drummer for the Doobie Brothers, who was unable to play the awards show, due to a prior commitment. Rich filled the space admirably.
The award show band had an amazing lead guitar player named Bumblefoot. Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal was part of Q-Ball and Bumblefoot, one of the 2009 nominees. He lent his stunning guitar work to the house band. Ron plays lead with Guns and Roses and Lita Ford, as well a his electronica work with Q-Ball and Bumblefoot. He was equally at home playing Rockabilly, Cabaret, and African Pop, along with rock and electronica.
Mr. Oliver C. Brown played percussion. Oliver is a member of Gravity 180, Harold Payne's 2009 JPF award nominated and winning band. Mr. Brown was an original member of K.C. and the Sunshine Band, having played on their first hits. His percussion was sublime. It took the band over the top.
Along with Jeff Oster, Jim Hoke played sax in the JPF Award Show horn section. Jim could have just as easily played harmonica, keyboard, or pedal steel. as a session player, he has recorded with Bob Seger, Alan Jackson, Rick Vito, and Martina McBride. It was a surprise to see him, an old buddy, there, but it is not surprising that he fit every situation with elegance. His lead work on Pete Anderson's award winning Rockabilly song "One Sweet Letter" was on fire.
Paul Von Hoff is a young Chicagoan who plays the trombone like nobody's business. He joined the award show band that night. Paul is a member of the nominated brass ensemble, the Gaudete Brass Quintet. He played everything beautifully.
It was an honor to work with these players. It was an honor to play behind the award nominees. The quality of the music on Saturday's award show reinforced what I told the crowd Friday at B.B. Kings's, "This is what radio SHOULD sound like." The night went by too quickly.
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

Thanks for the summary Mike. It really was an awesome night. Should we bring the awards back to Nashville, we'd be hard pressed to compete with that house band lineup unless we had the same guys helping out.

This post is a great reminder of our 2009 Awards show. Shortly after the event I suffered a series of 3 near fatal strokes which shut everything down for me. We had literally life and organizational opportunities I'd been working towards all lost, perhaps forever once that happened. It has taken this long to reboot the awards we first started when we collected those first CD's in the late 90's 20 years ago. So here we are on the cusp of announcing the next nominees from the 200K+ songs and 17K+ albums and planning a show we hope can top 2009's.
Stay tuned!
PS: I am not sure we can touch that house band and most of them volunteered and it just feel together thanks to Bob Malone's leadership as Music Director. He'll be returning for this year's show!
