I have an album for sale on CDBaby, and in downloading it yesterday, a friend wrote me this: "I'm dealing with an iPod-addict's problem: I downloaded the files and selected iTunes as the program to use. I saw the files download as compressed files, but not in iTunes and I don't know how to get them into there. Now i need to know how to get the files into iTunes, and from there to my iPod, which is my massage music "stereo." Ugh! If you or anyone knows how to do this, please tell me. It will be a great help and enable me to purchase files from sources other than the iTunes Store." Can anyone help her out? ~Eireen http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/eireencullen

It should be as simple as importing the mp3 into the iTunes library.
Try opening iTunes
Create a new playlist
Select File/Import (from the pull down menu) and navigate to where the files are stored on you computer.
You should see the files appear in your new playlist. From there, just drag and drop them onto your iPod icon.

These are compressed files from CDBaby. Does that affect the import process?

Not as long as they're mp3 files. ITunes sells compressed files! Most are 256kbps...not even CD quality!!

I often put tracks on my iPod that come from somewhere other than i-tunes. I open the iPod playlist in i-tunes that I want the song to be copied into. I use mycomputer to open the folder on my computer that has the song. I drag the song from the mycomputer window to the playlist. Just tried it for the hell of it. Could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw that it worked Scott

I do that too, but since I'm on a Mac, I didn't know if that would work for a possible `Windoze' user.

Humm, If you can find the item in your My Documents program you may be able to right click the Icon and then go down to the Send To Tab and see if you can send it to your Ipod. I don't know if you have to plug your Ipod into your computer using a USB cable. If you plug in the Ipod it should show up in the Send To Tab.
This is how I send Files to a Disc such as Photo Files or Lyric Sheets or other files.

Ipods also have a sync button where it will automatically import stuff from your puter. Problem is it imports everything even the stuff you do not want to send. I have traditionally steered away from ipod because I find them expensive, not Windows PC friendly and generally they have limitations that generic plug and play players do not have. I can buy a similar or better spec multi media player at less than half the price of an idiotpod.

I use iTunes on both mac & pc, and I've never had a problem just dragging the file into iTunes. You don't have to create a playlist, import or anything unless you want to. Just find the mp3 file on your computer and drag it into iTunes. Once it's in iTunes, you can sync it to the iPod the way you'd sync any other file (which means if you only sync specific playlists to you iPod, you'll have to add the new files to one of those playlists).
