I just can't believe there are no folk musicians in the Bluegrass not interested in JPF.

K, Brian. I'll bite. Whats it take to get this off the ground and in Lexington. I'd like to add a couple of cents though. While Lex is "on the way" to becoming a "metro" area, the real folk musicians in the region must travel to Lexington. There are a number of folk musicians in Lexington, however, I'm not too sure there are enough to create an active Lex Chapter.

Lex is half way between everywhere in Kentucky. While the Louisville Chapter, no doubt does a fine job and handles Western KY efficiently, there is no real good incentive for Central & Eastern KY musicians to try and get to Lexington. Unfortunately the Eastern travel paths aren't efficient at all and a 45 minute crow flight is a three hour ordeal by Yugo! [Linked Image]

I've tried for years to get together with like minded musicians in Central, South Central and Eastern Kentucky areas. Best I can say is unless you're within hollerin' distance it doesn't work very well.

Perhaps though, I have an idea to be discussed. Why not create a "Roving JPF" chapter here in the Bluegrass. I'd like to see this cover from Lexington to Ashland, to Pikeville, Harlan to Jellico and back up the I-75 corridor to Lexington. Yep, it's a few square miles, but this area is prolific in generating folk musicians. Even Michael Johnathon over at Woodsongs will vouch for that. (side note .... when Michael was just getting started, the Woodsongs show was taped at Planet III studios in Lexington. My wife worked for the recording studio at the time and we sat in on a number of the early shows. Thats when the audience was 10 or 15 people! [Linked Image] We'd all clap double fast to make it sound like a larger audience. Michael has done a tremendous job of promoting folk and eclectic music. )

Anyway, is this an idea worth visiting? I'd certainly be interested in seeing some discussion about it. ..... A Bluegrass Chapter ...! [Linked Image]

If you're interested Brian, pop me a mail. I'm all ears.

Regards,

Ambrose Woodfellow

Chapman,

We haven't heard a PEEP from a single person from Louisville OR Lexington about the Summer Roadtrip. In fact, of 40 stops, those are the only two shut outs other than Fargo.

What's up in KY?

Brian

.... and both college towns to boot.

I don't know what to say here. It's a shame there is so little activity here at JPF from the Caintuck crowd.

As posted elsewhere, I'm expressing interest. Not too sure I can pull others in. But heck, I'll give it a try. I've got a few contacts here in Lex and surrounding areas. I'll get the word out and see if we can get some action hap'nin.
