Hey folks, Anyone going to the awards show in August? We could have a coffee get-together at Bongo Java, right by Belmont College and Music Row, at 10 am on August the 29th. Also, anyone staying over on the 30th, let me invite you to Nashville Cowboy Church. It's a live radio broadcast, held at the Ernest Tubb Theater near Opryland Hotel, from 10am to 11am. It's a non-denomitational Christian service with a lot of music and a kicking band (I know the bass player personally, he looks a lot like a big foot ). It is hosted by Dr. Harry Yates and his wife, Joanne Cash Yates (younger sister of Johnny Cash), and there are always great guests. If you're going to be here earlier in the week, I'll be playing at the Wilson County Fair (a nice, good sized, county fair with lots of great rides and attractions.) I'll be playing on Sunday the 23rd with Christian Country artist Keith Marcum; and again on Wednesday the 26th with Dave Leatherman and Stone County, a great traditional bluegrass band, we're often on RFD-TV's bluegrass show "The Cumberland Highlanders." The Wilson County Fair is about a 40 minute drive from downtown Nashville, through the beautiful hills of Middle Tennessee. Or, just shoot me a PM and we'll meet for coffee. It's always nice to meet the JPF'ers. So, who all is coming to Nashville?

If you want to put together some events to share with the nominees coming to town, let me know Mike and we'll get it out to them. I don't think a very high number of nominees are on the boards (though you can look at the list and see for yourself, all nominees are listed on the Awards page links).
I didn't want to schedule too many extra events until we start getting a head count on actual attendees, but I bet at least a portion would love to do some extra stuff! Thanks for offering!
Maybe this will help us revitalize the Nashville Chapter!

Hey Bob, give me a call. PM me if you don't have my number. So far, I'm off on Tuesday.
Brian, nice talking with you last night. Looks like it is rolling along. I'd like to see the Nashville chapter take off, but it is a lot like herding cats...cats with short term memory loss.
Ben, I'll bet you could walk up and buy a ticket after the show has started. Ask Brian.

I'll do that Mike! I'm gonna hook up with my Cincy bud Chris Dunnett, and he's going to take me around to some publishers. After that I'm planning on doing Douglas Corner again, and after that PARTY TIME! It would be cool if I could hook up with the Nashville contingent at Douglas corner {Yourself, Bill, Tom, Marc, Bobbie ect, and any other JPFers who might be in town early.

I'm not sure if tickets will be available at the door Ben. They never have been at past awards. We assign seating and usually sell tickets and I know we need to get the seating list to the venue at least 3 days before the show. There's been some talk about standing room only tickets to the upper level floors but those may not provide a seat or even a view. They are more intended for tourists or locals who want to get in to eat and perhaps hear some of the show.
We'll also need some volunteer helpers so if someone wants to come but is concerned about ticket price, that might be an option. But you have to help, most of the time the help is to get people in the door since tickets are all "Will Call" style.

Brian I am free to help in any way I can. I have not ordered my tickets yet. I am waiting for my wife to get her schedule to make sure she has the night off. Pm me with details or E-mail.

I wish I could go. It sounds like a great time. The Cowboy Church seems wonderful.

I'm waiting to see if I need two tickets instead of just one, but it's looking like I'll get there...
