Hey guys...I've missed you. Life threw me a curve ball. New job...(I moved from Seattle, WA to Washington DC). Sorry that I've lost touch with the great work and writers on and in this group. So what kind of the stuff has the Muse been leaving for you? Guess I could just as easy scroll through the forum here and find out, huh? Think I'll do that. Here's what she brought me, if you don't mind listening (and forgiving me for being a stranger here of late) and giving me some feedback...I crave that you know. http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7717889Northern Star Well you took me by surprise when you turned the radio down. Said “wouldn’t it be nice if we could just get out of this town?” Said “baby just drive fast, cause I wanna feel the wind. I don’t wanna look back, cause it don’t matter where we’ve been.” Chase that northern star through Southern bars And Honky Tonks all night long. Let the motor whine to hillbilly time, That’ll be our new love song. Take the gravel road off the beaten path It don’t matter where we are. Who needs a map for the road ahead? We’ll just chase that Northern Star. Well I looked across the view thinking “how could I refuse?” Those big brown eyes were locked on me If I tried to fight, I’d lose. She gave me a wink, and I revved it up, said “slide on over here. And crank the tunes back up, is that “Freebird” that I hear?!” © 2009 Words and music Hendrix/Coggins All rights reserved

Well thank you Bob for giving this one a listen. Sure do appreciate the feedback. Anything good in the song is because of the co-writer, Michael Hendrix, who did all the "sanging" and playing. That's his guitar work. You like? I tell him he's living up to his namesake.

Hi Terrill, This is a really great tune.Just one of those songs that make you feel good and like someone above mentioned, tapping your toes. Looks like the Seattle area is gonna be missing a great song writer, but nice to know that there are a few good ones pretty close to home(for me). Michelle

Nice job with this 'toetapper' Terrill & Michael! That's definitely a long distance move you made from Seattle to Washington DC. I bet you are relieved that's it's now part of the past. Add to it your starting a new job and you have the makings of major changes in your life so I hope everything is going smoothly for you now that you're getting time to adapt. Thanks for putting this song up, it's a delight to hear! Take care and have a good weekend! -Dave

Much obliged indeed!

Hi Dave,
Hey, thanks for going beyond the song in your response and for asking about me. That was cool. I appreciate the kindness there friend. Hope that is returned to you a hundredfold!
The move and job relocation are great, but come with the pain of a divorce, so there is a bittersweetness (and a potential for untold numbers of songs?).
Be blessed. You certainly made me feel proud to be a part of this group.

Hi Terrill,
This is catchy and upbeat and the vocals are very tight and the harmonies are perfect.
The high end...the tambourine? I thought, could be mixed down by 5 or 10 db, and given a nice long reverb tail...that's my only complain. This is a wonderful song!
Mike

Sounds great to me, good singing and playing. I would probably change the percussion part to get more bottom in there, but it is still just fine.
Good luck in DC.

gail, I assure you I absolutely don't mind that you stopped back by and listened again. Even better...you gave the song a bump back to the boards. Thanks!
Needs a bridge, don't you think? Any ideas?

Hi Terrill How are you MATE? This Aussie girl is about to move house, 12 hours away from were I'm living now, but I'm very excited about the move though, so I understand, I'm just pleased to see you back. Love your song, and I don't think it needs a bridge, maybe another verse, maybe something like, you've caught your Northern Star, Hmm, I'll be back tomorrow, I'm tired and can't think straight. Hey us Michele's are good people hah, so you have two Michelle's now you have to contend with on the boards. Goodnight. Hugs Michele

Hi Terrill,
Welcome back! Sorry to hear about your personal problems. Eventually, though, you may be able to get a song or three out of it! As for this one, fun tune, great sounding demo. You have some cool, clever lyrics in that chorus too. Well done, all around.

Terrill,
Welcome back my friend. I really enjoyed this one. I sort of recall this lyric and song being a part of another one you posted earlier. I love the line about letting the car motor whine to hillbilly time. I think I live on hillbilly time. That's probably even slower than Tulsa time. Michael did a great job on this for you.
Unless you just want to add a bridge, I don't see a reason to. Where would you take it if you added one? I like the simple, toe-tappin' theme you've got going here.

Terrill:
Well done. On my initial read through of the lyrics, I thought they were fresh, tight and polished. (I was a little concerned about the "Big, brown eyes" line, but that sang just beautifully.) The lyrics were nicely matched by the music and the production, while simple, was well done and tasteful. My only complaint was that the song seemed to short. Good complaint, though, isn't it?
Nice job. (And welcome back.)

Unless you just want to add a bridge, I don't see a reason to. Where would you take it if you added one? I like the simple, toe-tappin' theme you've got going here. WENDY! We've got some catching up to do! So yeah, the first part of the lyrics are from an earlier song...one that I actually pitched here before. Didn't quite work. So I learned something about "being married to your lyric". You learn that one yet? Came at a price. Hurt feelings and all. That's another story, and hopefully another song...and possibly another thread...

Mark Hey Mark!...yeah, that's a complaint I'm not used to hearing! Brevity's never been a strong point of mine. So if you don't mind, think I may wallow in the satisfaction of that comment from you! Means a lot to me to have you stop by and listen and leave a comment. Thanks so much.

I can also tell you that not a week goes by that I don't listen to "no good" and wonder why the hell that ong is not on the radio.
How's your health?

Terrill Please tell me that is a pro demo. That is pro stuff, period. And I am talking about the lyric and melody setting the production aside. And the production is sterling. Tom
