{Just a Wee-Reflection on the recent In-Church Murder of an Abortion Doctor that made the news last week...}

How Far Can You Twist Logic
Until It Bites Your Behind?
What You Do IS So-Ironic
Insanity of The Worst Kind

Yes, Of Course, You'll Make Headlines
& You'll Have a Minute-of-Thrill
Then "Welcome BACK to Reality"
WHEN YOUR GOD TELLS YOU TO KILL--

Of Course You are Highly-Religious
(& YOU know so Much MORE than US)
Your Mind's Made-UP, Why Discuss It?
That Voice in Your Head's ALL You Trust..

And YOUR Cause is Much MORE Important
Than Anyone ELSE'S Free Will..
So You Are Now "High Executioner"
WHEN YOUR GOD TELLS YOU TO KILL--

(BRIDGE)
It's EVIL, It's STUPID, I Hope That You DIE
LIKE In The Old Testament: "Eye-for-an-Eye"

Of Course, You WILL Be Martyred
Of Course, That's JUST What You Want
But NO "Understanding" Was Started
& EACH Side gets Lessened-by-One

I Hate to Say "You'll Be Forgotten"
But History Shows that You Will
A Brief Page..You're Just a Blot-On
WHEN YOUR GOD TELLS YOU TO KILL...

(TAG)
You're a Dirty Deed, Done-Rotten
WHEN YOUR GOD TELLS YOU TO KILL.

Stan, Stan, Stan do you think this lyric has any commercial potential other than your blowing off steam? I think you should focus on the ones with a better chance to get picked up IMHO , now you can rebut my opinion or you can ask my God his opinion next time you pray(unless you don't pray)

HI Brother Gary!

For some Odd Reason this Subject just seemed More Important than penning the Next Love Song. The Deed has gnawed-away at me for about a week now...didn't notice Anybody Else making comment..Gee..maybe that's "Acceptable Behavior" nowadays?

I've noticed you keep referring to "IF I believe in God" and "IF I pray"...Amigo. You seem to think YOUR Version of God is the ONLY Version. And Pardon Me if this Description Fits, but THAT's near-exactly the kind of person I've penned this for.

Best Wishes..& Peace,
Stan

there IS ONLY 1 GOD!! and it's not my version it's his version been his version since DAY 0
, just as a christian when I see the word or reference to G-O-D I highly take offense to anyone or thing that tries or would try to downplay or downtrodden what I believe in till the day I die I will stand up and fight for my Lord no matter what the consequences no matter what because my faith is that strong and can't be wavered by any non-believer, so you're either on the side of the Lord or not that's a personal choice each and every one has to make, and it 's not up to me to sway you BUT I DEFEND ANYONE OR THING said against my LORD!

That's Your Choice; I respect it. I'll also remind you that Unwavering Christians were behind The Crusades and The Inquisition.

IF you're a Protestant, Unwavering Catholics burned a Fair Share of your Unwavering Founders..until Safe Havens were found/their Numbers Multiplied/& The New World was founded..ON the Principle of Religious Tolerance.."Before God, All Men are Equal"...if ya remember.

So, Mr.-Quick-to-Judge...does Your Version of God go along with the Murder of Abortion Doctors..&..if so..Why?

My Version Doesn't.

Best Wishes,
Stan

Yup you are right and you nailed me again!!!

Ive read the story of this colleague of mine and cant help to pinpoint that faith is the root of it.

Commercial value??? hmmm Im thinking the band Atheist will take some interest in this work. Hey they are from Florida for sure this lyrics is worthy for their upcoming album.

I give a hit with progressive metal fusion for this one.

I remember my so called one god created by the european during the greek time. This one god starts this crazy war that still exists today. After they spread this one god thing in poor countries that include ours and teach us to go forth and multiply now this europeans particularly the spaniards their birth rate is one of the lowest in the world. After they teach us their god they started to shun away to him and just recently they spreading the news that god doenst exist.

Oh well I believed aliens exist. But god? I have no idea. I still prefer that greek gods lives in mt olympus but my god I dont know where in heaven he stays.

Hi Stan,
I will say this much...i believe in one God the creator, and in his son Jesus Christ.SinceI believe this,I must believe his teaching...one is,judge not, lest ye be judged. What this man did to this doctor ,and then claims to have done it in the name of God is sooooo very wrong.I like what you have done here, and that is to show that it is not up to ANY man to judge.I understand if this man did not like what this doctor was doing.he should have prayed about it and turned it over to God to handle in the way he saw fit.But to take another mans life and say that you did it in the name of God to me is blasphemous, and if I remember correctly, that is one sin that God will not forgive.I also believe that you should pray for those who dont believe in God and show a Godly example to them.To constantly be critical and judgemental of another and thier beliefs contradicts Christs teachings altogether.and isnt that playing both sides of the fence a little also?If you are a follower of Christ, people should be able to see the light of Christ shine in you,and we should always be striving to be more like Him.Somehow I dont picture him as grumpy and judgemental.Very good lyrics Stan about a very current and very ugly situation...i think the meassage needs to get out and I thank you for helping to spread that message.
Michelle

You didn't answer The Question, Gary.

But, depending WHICH of the 4 Major Sets of "10 Commandments" you've chosen (Jewish Talmudic/Reformed & Other Christian Churches/Orthodox/or Catholic, Lutheran) they ALL include "Thou Shalt Not Murder"..in Varying Numerical-Order. (Only the Catholic Version uses the "Kill" word, in-translation, BTW.)

For those Denominations that wanna FancyDance around The Word "Murder", I'll close with a direct quote from Jesus:
"You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

Jesus I've come to like. It's Holier-Than-Thou Christians I've met over my many years I've come to disdain..the ones who think "Deists" are somehow Misguided Souls..& that they ALONE are the World Authorities on "What God Is"..when they haven't REALLY Done Their Historical Homework.

But..I judge not. I tweak a bit, here-&-there..I show some Emperor's New Clothes time-to-time...but I let the Listeners make up their own Answers. (Well, maybe I WAS kinda Judgemental about Murderers in this one...heh!)

Guess I can thank my Lutheran/Presbyterian Upbringing, eh?

Best Wishes, Amigo/Good Luck with the Next 2..I'll check 'em out.

Stan

HiDee Doc-Migo, & Thanks!

I'm a bit skeered of getting a Cut by a group calling themselves "Athiest"...but I have Fun debating with Skeptics all the time.

My Uncle..who helped develop the A-Bomb, is a retired Mathematician..&, alas, an Atheist. Now that he's in his late '70's..he's kinda depressed. I asked him, back when I was a Kid.."What's the Mathematical Model of Existence" & his answer was "It's a Fold in Nothingness."

In other words, a cataclysmic Creation of Positive and Negative Energy...from sheerest NADA. Add it together, it cancels-out to NADA again...yet..as the Hubble Telescope's shown, the Galaxies all seem to be Expanding..Outwards...Forever. (Or at least as far as Our Species is Concerned..)

WHY? I think the Simplest Logic would suggest Life is SUPPOSED to Occur..eventually...and make USE of what's been-Created. I like to think it's Implied to "make GOOD Use", too. We can SQUANDER what's here..& end up destroying Ourselves in the process..OR..we can ALL learn to Get ALONG and SHARE the Bounty.

This requires a Value System..which (Logically) requires some acknowledgment of a "Higher Intelligence." If there's No One or Nothing to Report-To, get ready for Anarchy.

There's also little hope to deal with Death, as-well. Better there's the Carrot Stick of SOME kind of REWARD for "Living Well & Peacefully"...OR we all might as well start overrunning The Neighbors.

Bacteria DO just that. I like to think with ALL our intelligence we're far-better Organisms...

The Species of Man HAS worshiped SOMETHING even back to the Earliest of Times. Perhaps we all have a "Religious Gene" somewhere on The Helix... We HAVE survived various Earthly Calamities..& outlived the More-Dominant Life Forms of Previous Eras...& in some ways, you'll have to agree "God IS on our side"...just to get Here...Today...considering The Odds Against It.

I believe God likes to be at least "Acknowledged". It's not a Huge Sacrifice, on Our Part. &..heh..ya get a Lifetime to come up with Your Own form of that Acknowledgment. I'm inclined to believe there IS a "Day of Reckoning" as-well. (Otherwise, there's little Value to a Lifetime..they're just days-lived.)

The thread of "The Golden Rule" runs through all of the world's Major Religions. I'll agree an Atheist could also employ that as a Value System/my own reflection on Atheists is God sends 'em here to make "Believers" beef-up their Own Beliefs.

So.."Mission Accomplished" Doc...so what can I say? I know MY last 10 seconds on this planet will be a LOT Calmer than my Uncle's.

Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug,
Stan

HiDee Mz Michelle!

The more I study God, the less I find he Looks Like Us ..& Vice-Versa. But that doesn't alter My Belief in the least. &..The Message stays prettymuch The Same.

President Obama was just on TV, being interviewed on the Murder. His quotes: "Completely Unacceptable"..."Tragic"..and "Abhorrent". (& The Last 2, he was quoting from what several "Right To Life Groups" had said about it.)

Thanks for Your Kind Visit, Kind Words, & Understanding. Big Peaceful Hugs,

Your uncle is really a smart one. I like his theory of nothingness at the edge of the universe which reminds me of church prediction that the world is flat. I still enjoy my ant in my formicarium imagining that their god, that is me is outside watching them and giving them basic needs and somehow if their god becomes busy they will be neglected then death of the colony is imminent.

Im thinking if my ant colony also think that their so called system are being controlled. Me also think if this system we are in are also controlled by unknown forces.

Well this is so hard to tackle and im sure folks in ever discipline will not agree with each other.

Well the Particle accelerator in the mountain of switzerland might give us some clue how far our civilation can go. But as the history of science goes on the more we solved problems a new mysteries unfold to baffles scientists.

REgarding your view of life and faith is much pretty the same with me. I believed this helix thing encoded in every gene will be used in the future. I think it was intended that some of the dormant one will be used for a more useful proteins like exoskeleton for human or a better storage of memory to survived because as you said the future of humankind is much worse and this DNA we have is our key for survival.

Also reading this article about the intelligent design I conclude god or alien being is there but somehow he doesn't want to mess with us after he created it. What he want is to let us figure it out and if we can't well the future of humanity is like a flush in the drain we just disappear without a trace in this vastness of space.

This is similar to your lyrics for so many years in JPF are all gone too. HAve you compiled it? Maybe we should request for Brian the old file and I will help you to compile it. I will ask my secretary to do it for future generations.

Hi Again, Doc!

Since Day One, Man's used Religion to plug the gaps in his Understanding of the Universe. "Let's sacrifice some virgins so that Volcano won't blow....or kill a few Captives so the Sun Comes Up."

But..Inquiring Minds (Which didn't Do as they were Told) came up with Better Answers. And..Fewer Gods.

But Our Species as Yet to come up with ALL the Answers. Those Cyclotrons seem to come up with TONS of Data..& yep, SOME Answers...but interestingly have aroused even MORE QUESTIONS..as Particle Physics gets to deal with Smaller & Smaller Unseen Particles AND Forces.

The Hubble Telescope brought Man his furthest clear view EVER of The Universe & Neighboring Galaxies. It also confirmed the existence of Dark Matter. And Dark Energy. Check out this latest Quote if you want to see Man "Humbled a bit":

"Latest estimates are Dark Energy comprises 75% of the Universe, Dark Matter 23%, leaving Ordinary Matter & Energy with a distinctly minority role of only 2%."

In other words, ALL our probing & Discoveries-Made over ALL of Recorded (& Unrecorded) History..on What We CAN SEE..doesn't come anywhere NEAR to Explaining MOST ALL that's "Out There". (We've yet to create any instruments that can even MEASURE Dark Matter & Energy.) Google "Science A Go-Go"...check out Kate Melville's "New Theory Unites Dark Matter and Dark Energy"..5 July 2004...and you'll see..at the end of the article..a really Interesting Mystery that tops them all!

One Last Mystery to go: forget where I saw it..but.."There are 10 to 100 times FEWER Small Galaxies than permitted by the Dark Matter Theory of Galaxy Formation."

Why IS this So? Maybe I'm Scientifically-Lazy but I DO think these Mysteries-Wrapped-in-Enigmas DO point to a Superior Intellegence "Out There". We slowly get to figure out HOW things work...yet rarely EVER totally-understand "WHY". &..heh..That's Where Religion fits-in.

Yep..your little ant colony will die out if YOU neglect them...yet their SPECIES will endure..at some Other Location.

& Even if they did go-extinct...there's some OTHER Species just champing at the bit..to take their place. LOTS of them.

Hopefully the Terror-Prone Idjuts who can't wait to get Nukes will keep that in mind....if not, God help us!

I was unaware the "Old Files" are gone....(hopefully not!)...I'll see how far back Board 1 goes....that's where we all got our Starts here, "back-when." Guess the Only Constant in the Universe is "Change"....I can take it!

Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug,
Stan

PS: I checked. ALL's still there at Board One....(Sorry I forgot Which PAGE..but it's there, April 15, 2001.."Cries in The Night"..my first song I remember posting at JPF.) Followed by "150 Pounds of Monkey Meat"..heh..so I was alternately Serious-then-Comedic from The Start!) Two weeks later, I joined JPF as a Member...always Glad I Did! It'll be interesting to see how many songs I HAVE penned in the 8 years-after...they're mostly ALL here..archived-away. At least 1500...maybe 2K...so hope your Sec'y's got lots of time on her hands! I owes ya Both if it happens! 'Nuther Big Guy-Hug,
Stan

Stan- I am gonna mostly comment on the lyric itself. It is well written as far as meter, wording etc.
I do not believe though, that GOD told this person to kill. I do not like that line, when your God tells you to kill.
I don't believe in all the abortions that happen, especially as a birth control method, it makes me sick, but I also do not believe in killing the doctors. Killing is killing. I am a Christian, and not afriad to say it. I do not claim to know it all. There are parts of the Bible I don't understand, and one day, when we reach him in Heaven, we will understand it all, I suppose. But I just believe by faith.
None of us will win this debate on this forum nor is it made for that. So I won't say alot more than it is well written, it is your feelings about the situation and we are all entitled to that, right or wrong. Peace:)
Kimberly

if i may, as a newbie...

i was raised in a pentecostal holiness church which as an adult ive drifted happily away from. but if it taught me anything, it is this: not all christians are religious, and not all religious people are christians. many people who commit these acts and say they know God are unknown to God. i will never believe that God tells anyone to kill. that would be a God i couldnt serve.

HiDee Brother Brian!

Other than visiting a really Nifty 18th Century Catholic Church in France..on a few Christmasses..years-ago..and a Lutheran Church La Femme & I were married in, nearly 40 years ago, I've kept out of active Church-Going. (Tho I still enjoy visiting Really Old Churches to see their Interiors & Architecture.) I DO visit Clerical Leaders..time-to-time..to fix their Grandfather Clocks..

One, Pastor Leon Lowery, is credited with helping Tampa avoid a Racial Meltdown in the '60's. (He showed me a bullet-hole that'd been patched near his front door..on one visit.) We had many a visit over the years..some Great Discussions..& a very Good Friendship..until his death a few years ago. I got to know Bishop (David?) Lynch..over in St. Pete..when his Grandfather Clock got moved there...really nice guy.

I sold a nice GFC to a Priest whose name I've forgotten..who later turned out to have embezzled $100K from his church...got defrocked for it...but, truthfully, was a really nice soul. The Worldly "Temptations" I guess got to him..but it happens. (In this case, he'd had a homosexual relationship with a Blackmailer.)

Love takes its toll on the Church-Leaders. Pastor Lowery raised eyebrows when, a decent interval after his wife died, he married a gal under Half-His-Age. (Nice Gal...but QUITE a Hottie..heh!)

The Good Bishop had an Attractive shall we say "Female Assistant" who was nearby..at all times...whenever I visited him & his clock.

I say this not to besmirch these leaders..but just to comment that We are ALL Human/I take what ANY Other Human tells me to do WITH a Grain of Salt. (I've never forgotten what a Wealthy Customer..heir to the Hobart fortune..once quoted: "Morality belongs to the Middle Class")...

But..being Of and About that Class...I strive to be Moral. While keeping an Open Mind about what IS Moral.

The Deity has blessed me with a Gay Son. The Christian Church is behind the recent slap-in-the-face Legislation in California. Therefore, I'm at-odds with those of the "True-Believers" who seek Second-Class Status for my son..for "Religious Reasons." (The same sort of folks who used to justify Slavery with the Same Bible...if you can recall not-all-that-old History.)
My son was voted Captain of his Cross Country Team..while attending Mercer College on a full scholarship..double major, French & International Business. Graduated..works in Atlanta..quite successful..in a stable Partnership over 5 years now..but..no way he can get Legally Married in his state..or most others. (His Partner's from a Born-Again Family in Tennessee..has to go home separately..pretend he's "Single/Unattached"...so he can play Organ for the Church Choir every Christmas.)

What a Planet!

&..of course, God's up there laughing-away. I sometimes think YEAH..we're all here for Comic Relief...that MUST be God's Plan for Our Lot.. Makes Sense...so..don't take ME too-seriously either, eh?

Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug,
Stan

Happy 3AM Mz Michelle!

I just Googled "Amen" for the first time...& Wikipedia states it's a term of Affirmation...from ancient Hebrew..that passed into Greek..then Late Latin..then to English.

There's also the conjecture that it hails back to the Egyptians's Sun God,"Amun" (Also spelled "Amen".)

Nothing's new Under The Sun...heh!

Hi Stan,

This was an exciting read! More timely subjects can't be found.

If your imagined audience for this is the people who already share the pow in the lyric, it probably works. But why write to those people, if the subject matter really is important? (Well, for commercial reasons of course, but that's about the only function that pow could have).

If you'd consider radical muslims as an audience for this, it could have the side effect that it were to be touching for others, I think.

Eg. you could write from the perspective of reverse psychology, mirroring the assumptions 'we' assume 'they' base their actions on in verses, and have a chorus saying that it's all good (would end up very controversial, though). But this would push radicals to another position, as 'they' benefit from the opposites created in media etc. (remember this is art, and therefore fictional at heart, so writing things for impact should be allowed, if we have 'free speech').

I think excactly like in reverse psychology for kids, where you want little Suzy to eat her dinner, and in stead of saying "EAT YOUR FOOOOD!", you say "Oh my god I love this stuff, but it is not really for kids, is it? Kids really don't like yummy like this, do they?". It would be what we think of as irony.

Perhaps what I try to say is that if you distinguish between 'push' and 'pull' lyrics, this is a 'push' one, and I just wonder what you'd come up with if you'd try to write a 'pull' one :-)

I'd still consider this a necessary first draft to write the unbeatable one, as with these matters we need to empty our system from the feelings involved, to really to be able to write from the loving/ caring pow.. I know, I know.. it's not really that kind of song.. hehe, but it could be, if it were to grow a little IMO :-)

HiDee Mz Kim, & Thanks for Joining In!

I'm personally against ANY Killing..unless a person's convicted IN a Court of Law OF The Crime of Murder.

I'm Anti-Abortion..BUT feel it's a Choice a Mother should be ALLOWED to Make..just as Adoption is HER Option. She alone has to live with HER decision...let HER make it.

I think a Church is facetious when it forbids most Birth Control Methods AND is Anti-Abortion. If ever there was a time FOR Birth Control, we're There. A lot of Poverty, Crime, Wars, & Misery are caused by just plain Too Many People in any One Place.

China's policy of One Child per Family IS solving a lot of their Other Problems..Famine..especially. The Amazon Rain Forest is threatened with destruction because Big Family Subsistence Farmers are burning-down the Vegetation to raise their next crops to feed their Too-Many-Kids. "25 years" is all it's got left unless "Something Changes".

Back to the song. I agree..wasn't God that told a Murderer to Murder. Sadly..there ARE folks that think what that Psycho did WAS the Right Thing to Do. (&..they'll Quote Ya "Chapter & Verse" showing it WAS the Right Thing to Do...too.)

These folks scare me...So...I thought a Song about the Deed was certainly called-for...&..I'm glad so-many here Have Commented on It. Good for The Soul..JMO.

Thanks for Your Kind Feedback, M'LadyChum!

HiDee Mz Ruby!

Waal..best I recollect, God tells Lot to sacrifice his son..but last-minute lets-up.

Been a few National Heros..f'rinstance Joan of Arc..that grabbed swords & headed out..on God's Request..in younger-History, too...heh!

&..I DO remember an Army Chaplain (Wearing a Combat Infantry Badge) showing me "Chapter & Verse" where I COULD go right out & shoot at those nasty Viet Cong..WITH The Deity's Blessing.

But..like you, I personally believe in a God that Creates Life, Considers it Holy, deserving of Protection. It's a Given-Gift I believe Only He can take-away..with Impunity.

Thanks for Your Insight...(& Good Luck on that Yellow Brick Road!)

Happy 4AM Here, Brother Magne!

Think ya meant POV..Point-of-View?...where ya got "pow"?

I hadda come up with some WORDS to deal with this tragedy...&..for me..since I often DO write for Me..it was best to just pen a tete-a-tete with The Murderer Himself. HOPING the next POTENTIAL Murderer-with-a-Religious-Cause MIGHT see the Words and be dissuaded from Doing The Dirty Deed all-over-again.

And..yeah..perhaps "Baiting" a few who DID think the Murder was "Justifiable" into coming out for a good Debate..as, I think, ONE almost-did.

I'm not too-eager to ever deal with This Issue again, in-song.

But...I'd help you develop something if you fed the title to me...

Many Thanks for Your Kind Visit & Sugs, Amigo!

Good Morning Stan,
Yes,you are right, and my "Amen" was to serve as my affirmation in believing everything that you said to be 100% true.I have been condemned to hell on several occasions for my beliefs, and even once asked to leave a church(was already on my way out anyway),because I told several people including the pastor,my feelings about his judgemental attitude of gays(my best friend is a gay man),smoking marlboros, and my tarot card reading services.I was labeled "Of Satan"and was told of my need to repent.I believe in Christ.I've just lost faith in men and women, where I should have never placed my faith to begin with.

G'Mornin' Mz M!

I've always got a laugh out of the expression "Go to Hell", since it SO demeans the Utterer. (WHO, pray tell, gave THEM the Authority?)

Likewise, when Christians make Judgements over Gay People, they end up demeaning themselves in a similar manner..though if ya point that out to them, their perception of "Superiorness" WILL getcha tossed out of Most Church Buildings.

So..as seems to be more & more the case, ya AVOID Church Buildings. Heard on the radio the other day that the Catholic Church is seeing Less-&-Less Visitors to the Confession Booths these days, blaming it on an easing of the Perception of Sinning.

THEY see it as a Bad Sign. ME, I'm thinking MAYBE the planet's FINALLY getting a bit More Tolerant. THEY just lost a Priest to a woman he wants to Marry. (It's an open church secret that there are NUMEROUS "Married" Priests in S. America, where they wanna maintain their Church Control of The Locals' hearts & minds.) Again, maybe that's a Good Sign that Tolerance is a-coming. (If only to offset the Damage Done by all those Gay Priests of "Days Gone By".)

Jesus didn't hang-well with the Rich & Powerful...didn't truck with the Church Money-Changers one bit...& stuck up for a Hooker about to be stoned, literally. My Kinda Guy. Persecuted-to-death by the Powers-that-be, too....so I suspect a Subtext Message'd be "It pays to blend-in" & maybe also "Do Quiet Miracles Nobody Hears-About."

Ended up, 2009 years later, we're STILL counting our Dates after HIS Birthday. Now THERE's a Miracle for ya~

Here's a Fun Note I'll add... Scientists have recently studied Human & our Nearest Chimp & Other Primate Babies..to see how Laugher Evolved. All react to Tickling.. The Closer-Genetically to us, the more easily-visible their laughter.

Looks like God..& Evolution..get in the Last Laugh!

Time to be goin'..Best Wishes & Big Hugs,
Stan

Hi Stan

How about that. The last church I was in was the Sacre Coeur in Paris last July and I usually get dragged into those places. I'd rather be sitting at the cafe watching the world go by. Not that I have anything against churches or religion but I do have a problem when the religous try the force thier beliefs on me. Live and let live please. Anyways just want to let you know you spout my beliefs entirely only much more articulately than I am capable of. The one thing that really gets me about the abortion issue though( and I don't think anyone uses abortion as a birth control method it is a sad tragic event that the person will have to live with the rest of their life and all too often preventable with education and availability of birth control)is that the people who can't stand the idea of an abortion are the same people that are trying to deny sex education and birth control. Sorry but abstinence does not work to supress a basic human instinct. Well time to go watch Religilus. Keep writing those tunes.

HiDee Bro Brian!

I miss sittin' in Cafes..last time I HAD time to was back in the 1970's, when I lived in Belgium. Best Church EVER: Antonio Gaudi's "La Sangrada Familia" in Barcelona...UN-finished for almost a Century..but WHAT a Facade! Spent 4 hours walking in & around around the Towers..Hollow Spiral-Staircases of stone (Hollow, so the bell ropes could dangle-down) with big sloped-down slabs of stone (So light could get in/water couldn't too-easily)..and wee "bridges" between the towers at several levels, so you could walk tower-to-tower (5-in-all, best I recollect) and see the City below. The effect of Floating Up to Heaven..both inside the towers..and in front of the building's carved-in Ascension Scene..was incredible.

I think if you study ANY religion carefully, you'll see they are always HAVING to change in order to survive. The Shakers are gone because they simply weren't practical..on a Long-Term Basis. Most of the Hellfire & Brimstone Spewing Preachers are speaking in Softer Terms today..partly due to Media Exposure of their Own Sins...partly due to people having More Access to TV & other media. Farm Folks aren't simple ever since Cable got wired-in.

As for Abortion..pardon the pun, but it's "Ladies Choice". Male-Dominated religions are gettin' a deaf ear turned their way..& we're hearing the Red-Shift of Desperate Echos when a gunman (Male, ya notice) takes Ethics & The Law into his own hands.

I find it strange that None of the world's Major Religions sees God as a Female Figure. It's a bit-Ironic that The Giver of Life is seen as some Gruff Inflexible Law-Spewing Male Entity. I'd find more solace in a God that CAN change minds like the Wind...&..it's easier to Understand a God that's not in the mood to Communicate Today...if it's a She.

I'm sure we'll all Someday have the chance to discuss this More Directly with Whomever's In-Charge...so no need to discuss it further...heh! As for Abstinence, I think that was reserved for The Nerds back when we were in HS...doubt much has changed-since. (At least TODAY's Kids CAN get the Morning-After Pills...so..JMO..there's really NO excuse in MOST cases of even Having TO Have Abortions these days.)

But..the Churches that are in Such A Snit wouldn't THINK of handin' those pills out like candy...now would they?

Waal..back to our worlds fulla Simple Solutions, Amigo!

Well if you were trying to get the ball rolling you did. I found the lyric expressed your anger and your frustration very well and whether or not this is a commercial song is un-inportant. Like my lyric posted a few weeks ago, "Three Youths" this needed to be said.

These sick individuals who clain they are doing Gods work do not know God or the teachings we grew up with. They take what they believe to be true and then act out but not according to any teachings. No they make their own choices and we as a society have to start looking at each crime individually and as I wrote in "Three Youths" cull these sick SOB from the herd.

Wow! I just want to ask ONE question to those persons who have been extremely judgemental on this thread, okay?

"What are you hoping to gain by that?" I cannot see anything constructive out of your posts. If you don't think someone's art is good, then try to HELP with your criticism instead of to say things that could possibly STOP the creative juices in a person altogether!

If you don't believe what they believe, then respect their beliefs as they should yours.

After all, being on a path of creativity, no matter HOW GOOD OR BAD the artist, is a NOBLE path which deserves to be supported unless you would rather see the world spending their time on negative ventures such as hate crimes, war, etc.

THINK ABOUT THAT and let's support the artist within each of us.

So please, KNOCK OFF the negative and destructive banter. Let God be the judge of anything God related. "JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE ALSO JUDGED!"

We are here for the art, not the religion.

Thank you.

Blessings,
Heidi

There are many teachings of Jesus and that one is certainly one of the most quoted. It is always applied to those who judge something as evil. I happen to think the doctor is in hell now and the man who shot him may wind up in hell. They were both out of the will of God.

Most people see Jesus as a friendly Teddy Bear who loves everyone rather than a holy God who will send some folks to hell.

He said this in Luke 12 51-53..."Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three. Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

He also said this in the same conversation where he said "Judge not, lest ye be judged." This is Matthew 7:21-23...Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

I'm glad to see that God has his hand in everything in the universe and when people recognize that he allows certain things to happen and if those things are muderous or life taking to one then it's his will so that the others won't be plagued by them , a good movie that shows what has to happen sometimes for the betterment of all mankind is Seargent York starring Gary Cooper, The proceeds of the film went into the building of the Bible School at Pall Mall,

i think part of the problem with people who quote "judge not, lest ye be judged", is that while theyre busy NOT judging a human being, they get VERY busy telling God HIS job. i dont think anyone knows the heart of another. only God does. he knows what prayer came up to him in the last seconds of that doctors life. it only takes a second to change eternity. how can we know if he's in Heaven or Hell? there are murderers in Heaven and ministers in Hell right now. all because of the state of their soul as they breathed out their last. we're going to get some surprises when we all get where we're going.

Very wise words Heidi,

as I told another person here just a few days ago,we should be here to give constructive criticism, not DEstructive criticism. We are here to discuss the lyric and how well it is written, and not to judge the person writing it............

Thanks Brother Doug for the Backpat...& you Well-Earned Yours earlier.

I think it's a Songwriter's DUTY to call to attention Things Which Are Not Right with The World. We have a Powerful Tool that's a Wonderful Gift. To merely pen Stuff-that-Sells & lulls the public into thinking it's all Roses-&-Daffodils out there is to do your OWN Soul a major disservice.

WILL this One Song Right-Any-Wrongs? The way I look at it, It Got People Talking..It got people THINKING. You inspire ENOUGH people to DO those 2 Things, you MIGHT get something to CHANGE.

That murdering jerk is NOW getting National Coverage of his thoughts.."More of these Murders are going to Happen". So Sayeth The Idjut.

Hopefully, MORE Lyrics like this one will occur..Someone with a pair of Cojones WILL cut it, & It'll be a National Hit.

Why? Because there ARE More Decent People on this planet than there are Murderers. JMO, of course..but they're usually The Quiet Ones that aren't paid-attention-to.

Luckily, some Songwriters CAN make up for all the Ignoring goin'-on.

"Hats-Off" to ya Dougie..& all the Other Writers who DO Give-A-Damn!

HiDee Mz Heidi!

Gee..You're Fun when You're Riled!

And I couldna said it any Better myself!

However..I'm ALWAYS quite-willing to Discuss Religion..anyone..any time. BECAUSE I've developed an Open Mind about God & Other Matters. I "survived" a Christian Upbringing. Had the Agnostic Period. Found a workable Relationship with The Deity through as Direct-a-Contact as ya get.a Wartime Life-or-Death Moment.

I read up on Science..because that's NOT "Faith-Based"..it's directly "Visitable". Results...not Beliefs. No..they're NOT 100% True-&-Correct...ANYTHING Man Touches is "Off" by a few.

But..when a Scientist says "The Earth orbits The Sun", for instance, he CAN show you ALL the Data that Proves It. WHICH, at one moment in History..WAS enough to get that Scientist burned at the stake.

So..I deduce that even The Church (Fill in Denomination and Beliefs) deserves to be taken With A Grain Of Salt. It's basically Ruled by Men...even The Bible was once "voted-on" by a Church Council/Chapters were deleted..Edits-Made.

So..what anyone believes SHOULD be a result of sifting-through "What You Know"..and Listening to "What Others Have to Say."

The Atheists who believe "Science is the Answer" NOW have to explain why 98% of "What's Out There" CAN'T even be detected by ANYTHING we've got, except our powers of Deduction. The Fundamentalist Christians get stymied by the DNA research & the Human Genome Project, which gets closer-&-closer to showing the Communality of ALL living species..via Evolution..on a Chemical Basis rather than an Archeological one.

These ARE Interesting Times. There's MORE Room for Religion in our Daily Lives than ever..as there seem to be More & More of US inhabiting this Planet..and we all have to learn to Co-Exist...or wipe our slate Clean here & Evolution gets to Start All Over Again..(which it HAS & Will Again, if WE Blow It.)

So Sayeth the Rock Formations.

Back to the Daliy Grind...Many Thanks for Your Kind Visit, Kind LadyChum!

Thankee Brother Dave!

I got nothing Against Christian Art...El Greco's one my favorite painters..ditto most all of the Renaissance Guys.

Musically, hey, I've always loved the Gospel Side of Elvis...& Amy Grant's always a Fave..tho yeah, their Personal Lives seem a bit tormented. But I think most all of us are Sinners rather'n Saints..in SOME way or another.

We're ALL "Works In Progress"....(Even the "Holier-Than-Thous"...) JMO.

HiDee Brother True...& yep, I agree witcha..BOTH Guys deserve their time in the HotHouse.

I just don't want those Potential Executioners out there to think it's Quite Alright to run around Playing-God. The Abortion Docs have made THEIR Choice...God'll sort 'em out, soon-enough.

And Christ wasn't promising anyone a Bed of Roses for Their Beliefs here on Earth. (I think he was particularly abhorrent at anyone who got a "Superiority Complex"...& literally "God-Help The Wealthy", too.) A man's Heart was & is what God's Really Interested-In...the rest is all Powder.

That's what I've deduced...maybe I'm wrong. Time will tell, sure as the Sun always rises!

Thanks for the Further Insight, Amigo...it's Appreciated!

Who am I to refute your Superior Logic, Brother Gary?

So let's let off EVERY Murderer who says "God commanded me to do this"...& it'll be a Wonderful Planet?

ONLY for The Crazies.

I keep gettin' this Message that God wants me to shoot ALL the Jehovas Witnesses that bang on my door...threatening MY beliefs.

Please Advise Me...

Thanks!

Hi Again, Mz Shoes!

I dunno if it's Just Those Last Few Seconds that really-matter....We-uns got a Whole Lifetime to Answer-To. & God-Alone decides The Parameters of Who Gets In/Who Doesn't. MAYBE that Dollar ya gave that Guy-With-The-Cardboard-Sign (who WAS gonna Off-Himself that day..'till YOU shed the Buck) counts even-MORE than all the babies ya aborted. I dunno...(but God Does.)

To even THINK ya know FOR SURE what the Deity's got in-mind kinda verges on Blasphemy...JMO. (Check out all the VARYING "10 Commandments" via Google & see what I mean.) We've got a Good "Outline"...but Interpretation..FINAL-Version...STILL rests with The Deity. (Amen.)

Me, I'm inclined to believe in Reincarnation. "Didn't make it to Heaven? Here's Another Shot..don't blow it THIS time!~" Some of my More-Christian Friends tend to acknowledge that's more in-line with "A Loving God". Me, it tends to line up with the many "Hypnotic Regressions" where subjects do Detailed Reports of Previous-Lifetimes...2..3..& more..Lifetimes-Back.

I'll try it myself someday... Got some open-minded friends who have...& it gave them Great Peace.

But..I'm already at-Peace. Been a Fun Life, I've made my Mistakes...still do time-to-time..but the Path gets Easier if ya keep your eye on it.

Best Wishes, Big Hugs,
Stan

Hi Again, Mz Michelle!

You're kind, as-always, but No Need to Defend Me. I am what I am...& The Deity Knows.

I've had My Walk in The Wilderness, too. War is as close to any Hell as Humankind can create. I saw moments of great heroism AND Compassion over there. I also saw butchery and greed and depravity. And Stupidity. But..I emerged with a Faith I'd never totally grasped before. It still surprises me..partly because SOME of it runs VERY Counter to what I'd been taught as a kid.

I pen VERY few Religious Songs..& TRY not to comment often on Others'... It's not really Any Of My Business to REALLY try to change What People Choose to Believe.

But..Beliefs ARE Interesting. People ARE Interesting. &..I DO believe there IS something/someone that has FAR More Intelligence than WE ever will who actually DOES Care, yet intelligently DOES let us decide What's Good Behavior and What Isn't..based upon "What Would God Say?".

We aren't "Wired" to be right every time. But as long as we TRY...I think that enters into the Final Assessment.

Otherwise, what's the Sense of Being Here?

Best Wishes, Big Hugs, M'LadyChum!

Thou shalt not murder. Thou shalt not kill. 6 of one. A half dozen of the other.
