I'd rant
But I can't
Nobody's gonna listen
Why moan
Why groan
Why all this useless bitchin'

Got more
In store
But I don't wanna waste it
Who'd care
More despair
So I ain't gonna paste it

Smilies!!

Bobbie

Bobbie,

"I wish I were as hot as Ms.Bobbie.
I'd really strut my stuff

'cause I ain't a social buff.

matched by the shine as I raise my tail up.
But, I'll never match Ms. Bobbie's fame
'cause I just can't reach a Gallup!"

John, one reason a lot of those lawsx asre not enforced is because they're silly. Yes, they should be repealed--but they're not.

I ran into a good one today. Did you know that in the City of Coquille, Oregon, it is illegal for a chicken to cross the road?

Yes, I especially hate when those vehicles armed with major subs, blast out their "beats," replete with sex and violence, in such a way as to make my head split in two!

I feel like I'm in the presence of a gang war when I hear that crap. I think the next time I hear that, I'll have to put on a CD of a gospel choir, place some mega speakers on the top of my car and then let her rip.....accompanied by a PA system in which I start preachin' the good word about "loving thy neighbor!"

a gal can dream...

HiDee Bro Johnie...nice-enough Rant, Bro. Score one for Florida: The law here NOW allows cops to Seize (& eventually Auction-Off, I believe) CARS with Overly-LOUD Music playing from 'em. (Cool, eh?)

(They've also been enforcing a law Not Allowing all the Neon Trimming the kids applied to their Vehicles...which, frankly, I thought WAS kinda Neat.) &..ya get a Ticket for displayin' a Bumper-Sticker with onea the "7 Deadlies" too...

(Surprised the ACLU hasn't challenged that one...heh!)

Anyhews, I've always thought the Roadways were for Driving..Quietly & as Non-Politically as-possible, since Road Rage Laws seem to be ignored often-enough.

Back to a Quiet Florida Evening.

Best Wishes, Stan

I was in a college class (poetry workshop) with a kid who worked as a Disney mascot. He said it was a horrible job. The costumes were really hot and you had to be happy all the time...even when some of the kids were being evil and trying to drop lit matches into the eye holes of the costume. I recall he wrote a poem entited, Nobody Dies at Disneyland. It was pretty creepy.

Sorry, this is not a rant..just some useless trivia. smirk

Heidi, Thanks for the kind words.
Stan, I think it's a great law. Like you, I disgree with the one about the neat lights effects some vehicles have.
Joe, I personally don't think the distubing the peace and public obscenity laws are foolish. I think they should be enforced and peace seeking citizens should not have to put up with this crap.

Here is one of my personal rant songs. It is my biggest gripe. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=576195&songID=4235072

Wendy,
I think there is a great song in there somewhere...

"Evil child at Disneyland
hiding matches in his hand.
Goofy smiled at the evil child
who lit his ears, went wild and then ran."

That sucked, but you get the idea....

Auntie Rant huh! I'm the King of rants doll. Ok, here's one.

I am a smoker of cigarettes, very politically incorrect. My, how nons hate smokers! Why do you do that? It's so unhealthy and it stinks up the place. I know. But I can't help myself.

It goes back to the days when I was a little boy. A very deeply rooted psychological impact on my life. I found I liked sitting on my Uncle's lap not because of him but his cigarettes. I love the smell of cigarettes, like fresh baked hot apple pie. I tried them when I was 8 years old and they were disgusting. I threw a whole pack in the creek.

The clincher came when I started drinking in bars at 17. In order to make myself look older and cool, I smoked. Then came college. Drinking, smoking and partying were a natural match. There was no stigma about smoking then, until the lying sacs of the tobacco companies were caught enhancing nicotine. "Uh, I doesn't believe nicotine is addictive", the lying sacs said to congress.

Then the bleeding heart liberals got involved, who have to have laws for just about everything. Of course, they are non smokers, but they had to get their 2 cents in as always. Well, the government sued the tobacco companies and won a huge settlement and the bleeding hearts were satisfied. But now our glorious, rip off government decided to tax the hell out of cigarettes to teach those bad tobacco companies a lesson. Stupid as###. They knew all along they would be placing a segregationist tax upon the backs of the middle class and the poor and it won't hurt Big tobacco. The majority of smokers socioeconomic background is the middle and the poor classes.( Yes, it can take the place of the marriage tax. ).

Now, cigarettes are just too expensive, costing some people $350 a month. Way beyond alcohol taxes and cigarettes don't kill people on the road to the tune of 58,000 lives yearly.

I came up with a plan to escape this tobacco tax tyranny! I bought a $50 rolling machine and make my own cigarettes at about 85 cents a pack including tax. I was in smokey, cigarette heaven. But, it didn't take the government long to catch up to me after a year of bliss. They got so used to this smokin cash cow, they needed more and raised the tax another 60 cents on a pack of cigs. No problem, I don't buy cigs. I roll my own! Uh uh, not you don't pal. You will not be in smokey heaven long. Little baby pants, Phillip Morris said, Boo, hoo, you can't raise the price of cigs on a pack and not bulk tobacco, which Mr. Marnie buys to keep his costs down. We Want him screwed too! And so, the bleeding heart liberals that run the bureaucracy, screwed me because PM SAID so! Raise my tax on bulk tobacco 60 cents. Oh no, let us raise the tax on bulk tobacco 350%! Hitler has been cloned! My 1 lb. tobacco went from $15 to $55 a pound overnight! THIS IS FREAKIN aMERICA!

The point here people, is not whether smoking is bad. It is legal and this freakin government has no right to single out a portion of the American public and levy tyrannical taxes on only them. This is totalitarianism, not the act of a free Republic. It will not be long until you are singled out!

My prediction for the future. America will become a dictatorship within 25 years! Ha, ha. There is only one chance left to save the Republic. But, are we the courageous patriots our forefathers were?

Whew, that felt gooood, ah.

Hey John,
I wonder how much work it would take to grow your own tobacco? LOL! Great rant.

Auntie, it doesn't always work. Tobacco requires a certain climate and growing season that just doesn't exist everywhere. (On the other hand, it does grow in Connecticut. All hope may not be lost.) I have lived in places where you never saw a ripe tomato because the growing season was so short.

Joe,
What about a small greenhouse with climate control? You might save a bundle and you could "deal" tobacco to your friends...Ha!

(Just meant in good fun)

I could rant, I could rave
But why dig myself a very early grave
I could whine and complain
But I'd rather toast to life and sip champagne

I could vent, slam a door,
But I'd rather take a walk along the shore
Though my life has it's bumps
I just turn the other cheek and take my lumps

Rant you will, rant you must,
I hope all your ranting settles all your dust
As for me, I decline, got my sun set on "shine"
I won't groan, I won't vent
There's too many ways that time is better spent!! smile

Lynn,
I was wondering when you'd get around to adding your rhyme...

Thanks for contributing a "Lynn" to this thread!

Heidi, it does take a lot of work to grow tobacco. It's not just growing it like any other weed cool it is the processing into smoking tobacco that is difficult. Once they start taxing toilet paper so we can't afford it, we will have to make our own or start sribbling on the wall when we are finished. lol.

Looks like the ranting has turned into planting...

As soon as we've gone a day with no rants, we'll dole out the prize for the best rant!

So, if you have any more venting to do, go for it!

I've been enjoying these for days now! Thanks Heidi and all!

I was bummed that I couldn't participate. But I've just returned from a trip and found that, yes, I can!

CELL PHONES!

Hey Gus, driving the big 18 wheeler! Maybe you could get that cell phone outta yer ear while you're merging onto the interstate. Either that or drop the ham sandwich you're stuffing into your pie hole with the other hand. Something tells me that no matter how good a driver you are with two hands, you're probably not that great with two legs!

And besides, you're about to come up on Martha, who's driving 45 in the center lane while she's chatting away on HER phone!

And Bill, who's standing in front of a beautiful waterfall in a peaceful setting at Yellowstone mucking it up for the rest of us while you scream into your cell phone to your wife about how beautiful it is. Maybe you could have waited the 30 seconds it took her to reach the waterfall HERSELF and see how nice it was with her own eyes!

And Lucy, on the jet with me that's grounded in a blizzard, talking on your cell phone in a loud voice about how we haven't lifted off yet because the folks maintaining and flying the plane "can't get their act together". Yeah, what have you done lately that's more complicated than dialing a phone or moving a mouse?

Well at least you took my mind off Terry, who's describing her sexual escapades from her vacation to her friend on the other end of the phone as well as to the kids in the seat in front of her.

And Mike, is your attention span really so short that you can't remember what your wife asked you to buy at the store? Do you really have to call and ask her while you're holding up the line at the check-out? Maybe that phone of yours is affecting your brain and you should put it down for awhile.

And Howard, guess what? It's been a decade since having a cell phone ring in a restaurant was novel. No one thinks you're important anymore just because you get a call in the middle of dinner.

But maybe I'm not seeing the positive features. To Daisy and Brad, who sat at a table eating dinner together while, the whole time, talking to different people on your own cell phones. Maybe this is a way to extend your marriage by never having to communicate with each other. Hey, I'm more than happy to listen to the boring details of both of your days if it keeps your marriage together!

Hey, it didn't work - I don't feel any better. Oh well, time to go play some music. grin

Scott

What did you say, Scott? I couldn't hear you. Got a bad connection on my cell phone. It only works when I'm around a lot of people I can annoy while talking on it....hehehehehehehe

Sorry you don't feel any better, doll! Maybe you can write a song about "Cellphone Hell," or something like that...

I have 1 big rant and involves every legal citizen of the united states, if our so called elected president isn't hiding anything then why has he spent over 1 million dollars in lawyer fees to seal and conceal his and his family's records? and why isn't he accepting the 25 million dollars to show birth certificate for examination? why did inact a bill or law on his first day in office, January 21, 2009, Obama signed Executive Order 13489. This order was entered into the Federal Register on January 26, 2009.I am pissed at our own government for making fools at the cost of our country and it's possible demise to become just another 3rd world country with a socialist government and for over 2 years they have been asking to see his records so this ain't new news

Ya wanna hear a rant?

I was walking to my apartment last night, not doing anything that anyone could even remotely be considered as unlawful or wrong, when I was approached, accosted and handcuffed by two bored rookie cops.

I had walked around the rear of their parked cruisers (parked in the middle of the f**kin' street!) and they got out of their cars and started in on me.

I walked around behind their cars because I'm on foot, I cannot trust anyone in a car, not even God.

Asking a billion questions, none of which were any of their business to begin with, demanding to know my identity, and handcuffing me while they ran their mouths about some fictitious bullshit like, "We just gotta make sure that you're who you say you are."
Like my ID is a fake? Like I'm lying to them?
That might be a possibility, they don't know me, but still, handcuffing me was going too far, and now it's too late.

Had me standing in the middle of the street, maybe just hoping to see me hit by a car?

They checked my name, looked me up to see if I had any warrants, whatever, but SHOULD HAVE LEFT ME STRICTLY ALONE, BECAUSE NOW IT'S MY TURN.

I am going downtown to talk to a few well established and highly influential attorney friends of mine about filing formal charges of assault against one of them.

At the very least, I will file a formal complaint against him, which will be amended to and enforced without delay if he f**ks with me ever again.

Enforced? If no one ever bothered me, then I wouldn't bother them, but they did, so now let 'em try me and see what this sweet little reptile is really capable of.........

If these rookie cops do indeed want to stay employed, they need to learn how to show respect to others, because they don't have any clue who or what they're up against, while I know entirely too much about that.

POINT BEING, I DON'T CARE WHAT YOUR JOB IS, WHO YOU WORK FOR, NO ONE IS JUST ALLOWED TO PUT THEIR HANDS ON YOU, OR ME, AND JUST GET AWAY WITH IT.

If humans do indeed want humanity, then they might think about earning it once in a while.

Sam,
I don't understand why "walking behind the rear of their cars" is cause for suspicion? Can you explain the theory behind that?

Also, I don't understand how a person can be handcuffed without some cause for suspicion. Did they give you any such cause? Had there been a recent crime committed in the area? Why were they there in the first place?

Anyway, I hope you got their badge numbers and I do hope they get handled in some way. It seems pretty strange to me that they would even do what they did to you.

Let us know what happens.

I wondered too, so I surfed a bit. As far as I can find, Obama's Executive Order 13489 basically revoked Bush's Executive Order 13233.

Finally I thought of one - here's my rant - I'll never get to be the MC for WOWgirls. That's my rant. I mean, is it because I wear a kilt? Does a kilt not really work with the western image? Well, someone thinks that the belts make those beautiful women look like crossdressers, so I don't see why a man that looks like he's wearing a dress wouldn't be a good complement. it would be a whole new level of beauties and the beast.

P.S. Since you can't see the stupid look on my face and hear the vocal inflections, I'm only kidding.

If you put some fringe on your kilt and wear a gunbelt, I'll consider your being the emcee for the WOWgirls....

I'd love to know that, myself. I didn't want to be hit by a car, but they just did that for no reason, as far as I am aware.

Also, I don't understand how a person can be handcuffed without some cause for suspicion. Did they give you any such cause? Had there been a recent crime committed in the area? Why were they there in the first place?
I don't either, but you get these little kids who have been told by their instructors at their academies to abuse people at will.
To be handcuffed without any cause whatsoever is not cool, and that's exactly what they did to me.

Anyway, I hope you got their badge numbers and I do hope they get handled in some way. It seems pretty strange to me that they would even do what they did to you.

Thus far, I have visited all three offices of my well placed influential friends, and will return to see one of those three later this afternoon.
I am trying to gain support for myself, through people that I know, and see how solid that support will be before I go to the police station and file a complaint......or worse?
Will keep everyone informed.

Okay, I have a rant. It's about the concept of HELP.

Most people have a "button" on help. They either don't want it even if they need it the most, or they feel you will betray them in the guise of help, or they will take a bit of help and then expect you to give them 24/7 help without letting up or else you become their enemy if you don't.

What a strange mechanism the concept of "help" has attached to it that would cause such drama!

I see examples hourly of people who are heading for major trouble but can't see the forest for the trees. And, it is exactly THAT "blindness" that needs to be addressed! But, they cannot see it because they are "blind."

It reminds of an episode of Kathy Griffin's "Life on the D List" where she decides to be like Oprah and go out and hand free money to women on the street just to do a good deed. Some people wouldn't take the money. Why? Because they didn't trust someone handing them free money!

It's frustrating when you know you have some answers that would truly make people's lives much easier, yet they don't even want to look at them. They'd rather just suffer because they can't even imagine anything better. It's like watching people walk off a cliff even though you are holding up a huge sign that says, "Don't go this way or you'll walk off a cliff." They do it anyway. And then they call me after they've broken all their limbs...
