I was somehow blessed to have Ricki Bellos collaborate with me on this for the challenge #3. All comments/suggestions welcomed. Your Wild Oats © Ricki Bellos/Vicki Ferloin-Shields 05012009 You turned our basement into a man cave Just a place for you to misbehave Another Friday night out with your friends tell me honey when will it end Your wild oats Are making me crazy Should’ve been sown Long before you met me It’s getting on my nerves I want the man I deserve-oh baby your wild oats are making me crazy You’ve been actin’ like a spoiled little boy Always on the prowl for your next toy I’m tired of the video games you play On this bed where we still lay (CHORUS) Your wild oats Are making me crazy Should’ve been sown Long before you met me It’s getting on my nerves I want the man I deserve-oh baby your wild oats are making me crazy I remember great times we had together Stayed in bed all day loving one another Just kick those wild oats right out the door Come here honey I’ll love you some more Your wild oats Are making me crazy Should’ve been sown Long before you met me It’s getting on my nerves I want the man I deserve-oh baby your wild oats are making me crazy I will always love you baby But your wild oats are making me crazy http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7566148 _________________________

Hey ladies: Love the delivery on this - Ricki really got into the spirit of this one. Love the "Whew" that starts the last chorus - it sounds totally perfect! It's a great hook and idea too, Vicki. Actually, I love the entire chorus - it really worked for me. Only thing I'm not sure about is the Video Game section - that seems less "wild oats" to me than drinking with the guys and chasing women. It IS a great tie to the bed though. (To the guy or gal that just found this by doing a google search on "tie to the bed" - sorry for the disappointment ) Bottom line though is that it is a really fun song - both lyrically and musically! Scott

Hi Vicki & Ricki
What a Catchy Duo Name THAT IS !!
Hey real Nice song all around -- music fits the lyrics well... I do not have any nits, but Just reading above Scott's thought -- guess IF you Can replace that couplet -- it with something stronger -- but it worked for me this way too.
Nice Job. jm

Hi Scott,
Thanks for listening. It was a little out of my comfort zone, but the lyrics really grabbed me. Thanks for that, Vicki. I'm glad you think I pulled it off! It made me smile the whole time I was recording. I'll leave the lyric suggestions to Vicki.

I know Ricki said the thank yous...but I have to too...I can't contain myself.
Michelle, Thank you for listening-glad you liked it!
SCott- The "Whew" that Ricki threw in their was great. SHe did a great job with this. The right attitude and emotion. About the video game line-I hear what your saying. When I wrote that line I was just thinking the guy was kind of foolish and immature. Perhaps I can change it to-the beer cans on the bed...I will give that some thought. Thank you so much for taking the time with this.

Calvin and Little Stevie- Thanks for listening to this. It's my first lyrics ever to be set to music and I'm so fortunate that Ricki chose it.

Good story, and Ricki does it smokin I think you could even up-tempo it more too and it'd still be good

Thanks for stopping at the Vicki & Ricki show! Glad you liked what we did. I think Vicki already has something cooking for those lines so I'll leave that up to her.

And now, for your listening pleasure, VICKI AND RICKI!! That's right -- what a FUN one, ladies!! This lyric challenge has been such a wonderful opportunity for us lyricists to hear our songs brought to life...when otherwise they might just sit there on the Lyric boards...ultimately resigned to some "coulda-been" shelf. Fortunately for all of us, Ricki got her hands and vocal chords wrapped around Vicki's clever lyric -- and VOILA! What a great treat!! I agree with the rest of the crew, Ricki -- I LOVE how you let loose before that last chorus. You are one hot chick!! And Vicki, the lyric is such a blast. That opening verse sets the tone nicely.....how can you go wrong with the Caveman Basement? While I do tend to think of "sowing wild oats" in mostly a "romantic" context, I think you've come up with a good compromise here. Needless to say, it's much more palatable for him to be "unfaithful" with his guy pals (in a guy-PAL WAY, I might add!), than stepping out with the occasional floozie!! Anyhoo, between the two of you, you gave me quite a chuckle. Thanks for sharing such a great collaboration!! Cheers, Beth

Thanks for listening Lou.
Beth-Thanks for listening. I'm so glad you liked it. Ricki had to school me on the true meaning behind 'Wild Oats' I thought it just meant a guy who was kind of immature and foolish. Contemplated changing it but ultimately decided to keep it and tried to emphasize that he wasn't cheating on her with other women but 'guy things' (Glad you got that)
Thanks again, vicki

Hi Ricki and Vicki, I always associated "wild oats" with "overactive male hormones" so was surprised to see the phrase associated with playing video games and him looking for his next toy, but I can see here, it's can mean "not growing up" or something equivalent. Ricki you wrote a nice match to this lyric, very coool tune. I wonder if you experiment with your voice? I was hearing this sung with alot more bite, like when we put some "noise" in our voice. To me, though you hit all the right blue notes and the chords and everything is just right, the performance was very "clean" sounding, I was longing to hear it "dirtied up a bit" , vocally. Very enjoyable, gals! Mike

Hi Ricki, Hi Vicki and nice to meet you,
I really enjoyed listening to this one. A good concept for the lyric, and Ricki you did a great job. I liked the guitar and especially loved it when you talked and the "Whew", yes that was great! Loved your ending too Ricki.
Going back to listen a few more times lol.
Good song and good job to both of you,
Letha

Hi Beth,
Thanks for taking time to listen and comment. I knew this one would take me out of my comfort zone so I went for it. It was a fun lyric to sing. I'm fortunate that my man was pretty mature when I found him. The navy, kids and an ex-wife will do that. I never had to deal with his oats, wild or otherwise! Given your situation, I'm glad we were able to get a chuckle out of you.

RickiVicki,
You crazy girls - wild oats! This really put a smile on my face this morning. Really fun stuff. I keep wishing I heard this to a serial commercial on tv!
Great name for a duo, by the way!
