As Goody would say - "Bump." Weatherman says clear and sunny in the mid 80's. Hope some of you will make the trek over for one or both days. The Pioneer Settlement is really an interesting place if you've never been there. They've moved a number of historical buildings onto the property and those are the buildings we perform in. There are animals on the grounds, a couple of full time jam tents, workshops, great arts and crafts vendors, etc. For the paltry admission price its about the best deal around.

Doug is right on the money...The Spring Frolic is a great event, and the Pioneer Settlement is an awesome setting.

Tom Stephens, Mike McKee, and I will be perfoming at the Sugar Cane stage at 1:30PM & in the Church at 7:30PM this Saturday, April 25th. On Sunday, we'll be on the Barn stage at 10:30AM & we'll host a contempory folk jam from 2:00-2:55PM.
To me, though, it's the late night song swaps that are the most fun. I'm really looking forward to a great weekend.
I hope some of you folks will be able to join us!

This really was a great event. The talent was just amazing...Doug Spears from Orlando, Larry Mangum from Jacksonville, James Hawkins along with Steve & Leigh Humes and Pasco Paul, Hannah's Whirl (Paul & Tami), who I learned are neighbors of mine from Seminole Heights, and so many other performers just blew me away.
Brian Smalley from Clermont is one hell of a performer. Garrison Doles from Orlando had me wondering just how the hell can you do that with a guitar...mine's never sounded like that! James Allen was great. This isn't your grandpa's folk music that's for sure.
We had wonderful song circles on Friday and Saturday night...one fine original song after another as we swapped tunes into the wee hours.
It was a humbling and really inspiring experience at the same time.

You left out that guy named Worrall who's chops on the guitar and mando sometimes keeps you from finding out what a stellar songwriter he is - WOW! And that McKee guy, what a player! Wish I'd met him years ago . . . yeah, inside joke.

I appreciate the kind words, Doug, but Michael McKee was the show-stopper this weekend. He absolutely played his ass off with me, James Hawkins, Lou Rochelle, and Larry Mangum. I've known Mike for more than thirty years, and I swear his playing gets more impressive every day. He has some amazing chops and uses them deftly with great taste. He's quite a guitar player. Barberville is becoming my favorite festival for the group that shows up and the general atmosphere.
The gruel needs salt, but I can deal with it.
