Roy,
Just took a listen. I enjoyed your song a lot. Danny did a real nice vocal for you. I can very easily hear this as a Tracy Lawrence tune. It's right down his alley, as they say. This is his type of song and lyric. Good luck with it. All the best.
And, glad to meet you!
Alan

Thanks Al for listening and commenting. I never thought about Tracy Lawrence, but come to think of it, that would be great. I have been a big fan of Tracy from the git-go. He grew up in Foreman, Ark. about 15 miles down the road from where I live and has an annual homecoming concert in Texarkana every year, plus he also hosts a charitable golf tournament here every year. So far, I haven't been able to to touch base. I don't play golf. lol. I know a friend of a friend, but you know how that goes.

Hi Roy,
This is a very pretty song and lyric, and the performance is sincere and very good.
The guitars are nicely played and panned discreetly,
I thought those nice vocal harmonies were far back in the mix; they sounded good to me, why so far back I wonder...
Best wishes,
Mike

I really like this. The melody really suits the lyric. The singer did a lovely job. Very touching.

Mike and Jean, thank you for listening and your comments. This song meant a lot to me personally, and Danny put a lot of emotion into it. I also love his vocals as we have did a few other songs together and he always comes through big time.

Hi Roy and Danny,
I like this very much....wanted to hear the back-up vocs more out front, but all in all....a very nice demo. Well delivered vocally....love the phrasing. For some reason though after listening about 3 times....I always want the bpm's bumped up just a little...can't explain it...especially in the chorus.
But...it is a very well written song both lyrically and musically IMHO. I enjoyed it alot.
And yes....Tracy Lawrence...maybe Josh Turner....He'd put a bit of a different spin on it, but could still do it....or possibly Craig Morgan. I could also hear a group like Emerson Drive do it with alot of vocal harmonies.
I'm so glad I listened.

Thanks Janice. Three times!!!! Wow, that's a compliment right there. I'd settle for ANYBODY. lol. But, living in Texas and not in Nashville, it's almost an impossibility to even get anybody to listen. Danny played with the idea of bumping up the BPMs cause it does run kind of long, but he said he didn't think it would have the same effect, so he went with his gut and turned the clock off. lol.

Well....that's okay, cause on my fourth listen....I just plain like it. I am a country writer, so this hit me just right.
Hey...you're alot closer to Nashville than I am. If I can do it....you can sure do it. Keep writing 'em like this one.
I like that...."Went with his gut and turned the clock off"...LOL. Hey, I have days like that....think I might be having one today.
What else ya' got that I can listen to?

Roy and Danny, you guys did a great job on this. Such a heartrending tune.
Production seems to be just right. Danny's quite a singer. Perfect for this song.
Best, John

Roy,
Nice job all around. I'm glad I listened. Good luck with this one. You know I've always wanted to ask you about that picture of yours. I know who the woman looks like but...who is it really?

Thanks again for everyone listening. Well Kevin, all I got to say is that it REALLY is Marie Osmond before she lost all that weight. Marie's hobby, or whatever you call it is that she is a doll sculptor. Has quite a few as a matter of fact. I work in a gift store that sells collectibles dolls, including Marie's. She came to our store for about ten years in a row, every November, to do what they call a doll signing, nothing moe than autographing her dolls for collectors that bought them. Since she got famous again after Dancing With The Stars, I am afraid we have lost her to Las Vegas and TV talk shows, as she hasn't made it the last couple of years. But, on her last visit, I took advantage of a photo shoot, and boy was I surprised when she grabbed me and hugged me up close and personal. She is quite a lady. Janice, I have a ton of traditional country songs on Soundclick if you ever get the time. Thanks again for your kind words.

Lovely vocals, very much in the pocket. And a good twist on the typical leaving scenario. Well done.
My personal opinion is, the refrain should be different than the hook. I would drop the refrain altogether and go directly to the hook, that would make it more powerful musically and lyrically.
We both knew this was coming I could see it for a mile Can’t remember the last time That I saw you smile We’ve talked about our differences We no longer try Now if only I can figure out.....
Chorus How do you say goodbye to someone
