Last year I wrote a lot in the winter. This winter was much colder and featured bouts of bronchitis. I hibernated and didn't write much.
Do you see seasonal variations in your song output? If so, do you write more in winter, spring, summer, or fall?

I would guess that the winter might be the best time to write, because in summer there are a lot more distractions such as wanting to spend more time outdoors. I am a new member, and after writing song lyrics most of my life just as a hobby, now feel it's time to get serious. Just had a demo made where music was set to a lyric I wrote. It is a country-flavored piece titled "Jeannie (I Didn't Mean to Hurt You)." Do you recommend lyric posting on this forum, or not?

Hi beechnut79,
Welcome to JPF. You should jump right in and post your lyrics on one of the lyric boards...either 1...2...or 3. Lyric board 3 is the fastest moving board, but all of the boards are a bit slow this week due to Spring break, I believe. But jump right in on critiqueing other's work as well...that's how you learn and that's how we learn from you as well. PM me and tell me about yourself. I'm also a country lyricist....been writing most of my life as well.
Once again...welcome to this wonderful, caring community of writers.

Oh...sorry Lee...nearly forgot to answer your original question for this thread.
I write ALL the time, but I suppose I have less distraction in the winter. As you know, being a Mi. person, we are fairly closed in at times here for a few months...but still...no matter what the season, I am always writing every single day.

I think about writing more in the winter but my job with the DPW Keeps me at work with lomng hours plowing snow. But come spring with all the new life comin round it inspires my heart to get back to some serious writing and co writing. My 2 cents. S.Dee

I don't think that for me, at least, there is any connection between inspiration and the weather. Of the last two really productive writing spurts I had, one was in the middle of summer and the other in midwinter. Like the car commercials used to say (back when people bought cars), your own mileage may vary.

'February is Album Writing Month' (14 songs in 28 days) and '50 Songs in 90 Days' runs July 1st to October 1st.... so there's a lot of motivation for me to write in both winter and summer, lol.

I tend to write down what shows up. This winter not much arrived.
I travel more in the summer. Road trips often inspire song lyrics, so I sometimes get a seasonal bump from being on the road. Winter can, and has, been both good and bad for my writing.

[color:#CC33CC] [size:14pt][color:#3366FF] [size:17pt] [size:20pt]In winter I'm inspired by the snowflakes as they fall, In spring my senses heighten when the birds sing mating calls, In summer I'm delighted when the flowers reach full bloom, I scarce can catch my breath when autumn colors ever loom. It matters not the season for the muse comes all year long, For it's timing is a mystery, all decided by the song.

Winter doesn't affect me too much. In my neck of the woods, the weather is usually moderate for most of the year. Summer is not a good time for me though. I don't feel that creative when it gets over 90 degrees.
