since i frequently refer people in JPF to ads I see in the Musicians section of Nashville's link in Craigslist-I figured I would refer those people to our website........should work out all around.......cause 8 out of 10 folks in the music biz in Nashville are originally from somewhere else anyway.......(like me)
I know y'all will be friendly and welcoming as usual....

Most of the time the Nashville craigslist is a bunch of drama! I'm sure that you've noticed. Some of it's good though...warning people of the the snakes in the industry. Then there are the whiney guitar players who want to "collaborate", but then never meet up with me when I ask them to. sigh. Oh, for a guitar player who will play for me! They whine about not even being able to play for free. I offer to pay them $50 per gig. No shows. Go figure.

you are absolutely right Erisa Rei
not everything and everybody in Craigslist is for real or a good connection to make..........you do have to do some sifting through the BS.. just as in JPF or anything online or offline.....but overall I have found it to be very useful......met a great co-writer there..........I have reposted some ads from there I thought looked good........and I hope to bring alot of the Genuine folks in the Nashville area to our site here at JPF.......in my 4 years in this town I have had so many up's and down's and spin around's-just trying to nail some jello to the wall.....but thats why I love Nashville-cause anything else would just be too dam easy-lol.......nice MYSPACE PAGE.....hang in there honey......nice to meet you-hope to see ya around town sometime..

Hi Erisa!
I plan on moving to nashville next year. I'm a pretty decent guitar picker who WILL show up. If you're still looking then...

Al is always way too modest about his skills
and when he finally moves to Nashville one place I want to take him is a dinky looking little place in the Gulch section of Nashville-called The Station Inn........most guitar players are afraid to get on that stage cause the level of playing is so high.....I know Al can get up there and run with the best of em....he will be in great demand in Nashville within 2 weeks of getting here...
Erisa Rei-I suggest you hook up with Mike Dunbar about finding good reliable guitar players........as a producer and member of the musicians union here-not to mention all his personal gigs-he knows alot of great guitar players.......if he reccomends someone you can be sure they will not disappoint you....send him a PM....$50 is enough to get you guys will appreciate the gig......

Indeed, Mike has done two recordings for me, set two of my lyrics to music, with great results. A third completed recording is one the way.
I know musicians here in Nashville that don't come to this website, but who are excellent players... I can introduce you to some of these guys if you are interested, if for nothing else but a jam, but these guys are good.

Thanks Tom! And Al, I'll take you up on that offer. Scoring Alan for a gig is like having Chet Atkins stop on by. Problem solved.

Yes Mark
Alan is a true master
and I don't throw that word around easily-being in this town with the guitar players I have seen here.......But he is indeed that good.....the only question or mystery about our fine friend is WHAT HE REALLY LOOKS LIKE TODAY?
as we have seen-he uses a picture taken on Prom night-or his High School yearbook........
maybe I will start a contest here on JPF........submit a photo of who or what you think Al really looks like today....the winning entry-that being the closest to reality-wins two free nights in my Nashville apartment....for whatever purpose they may have of wanting to be in Nashville....
my entries will be 2 photos-one of BEETLEJUICE and one of KEITH RICHARDS.....
now as I said-he is still supremely talented.and will no doubt be getting alot of stage time in Nashville.......even if he has to wear a bag over his head so he doesnt scare off the customers.....as one of his co-writers and good friends-I will help him out-I will get him a Nordstrom's bag-so chicks will still dig him......
we all anxiously await the unveiling -ALAN
your buddy

interesting entry Mark
being in ST.LOUIS-home to some of the countrys best plastic surgeons-he might well look like that....we will see if he is indeed honest enough to admit that "yeah-I did have a little work done"

Mark,
I never intended for that photo to go public!!!!
And thanks guys for the kind words. For an old fart, I still do pretty good, I guess. Just went down and filed for Social Security this week. WooHoo....checks every month!
The photo in my avatar is about 7 years old. Although there is very little gray in my hair, the stache is mostly gray, now. I'll get a newer photo up one of these days. Wait...I don't need to. Mark has already don't for me!
Also, Sam's advice was excellent. Mike Dunbar is probably one of the best resources nashville has. Mike may not be the biggest name in town, but he is one of the biggest talents with a matching integrity. He is first class and first talent level all the way. Good call, Sam!
Wishing you all the best.
Alan

Mark,
Two things: (1) The last time I saw my underwear they were at Milepost 43 in Illinois. Joe Wrabeck has documented that in lyric. (2) Although I am flattered, I am hardly the equivelant of Chet Atkins. But, on occasion, I have been told I play like Chet...or something like that!
At the expesne of sounding like a braggart, I am a pretty darned good live performer. I am, however, a lesser studio performer. I do not play clean enough to do a lot of session work, although I did some in Germany. When performing live, the dynamics of my performance more than make up for those little nuances I lack and minor mistakes I often make.
The thrill and energy of stepping onto a stage with hundreds or thousands of people in the audience is so danged awesome and inspirational. I'm sure it is part ego...you have to have a little more ego than the average guy or gal to ***WANT*** to perform live before that many people. I love it! That spark of energy I get from playing live is a different aura than playing sedately in a studio. I guess I am saying I know my strengths and weaknesses and try to play (pun intended) to my strengths.
Again, thanks for the very kind words. I do apprecaite them more than I can tell you.
Alan

Also, ANYONE who wants to relocate here to Nashville and try their hand at "musical success" is welcome to join me at the drum circle every Sunday afternoon, I will be more than happy to introduce some really excellent drummers, and also turn you on to a place where, weather permitting of course, people can come to and just chill....
No deadlines, wake up too early, work yourself to the bone, nothing like that....Just put down a blanket, and listen to the drums, or, if you like, bring a drum and join in.
PM me and I'll give directions....
