There are more HONOR students India than students in the USA?

Soon more people in China will speak English than here?

Is this all true? What do you think?

Interesting video. Assuming that the human being has basically the same intelligence (within a few "IQ" points), it is not surprising that places like India and China will have more "smarter" people than the US.

However, the US "achievement" level is still higher (measured by inventions/patents/breakthroughs) due to the capitalist nature of our economy. If that goes away, we are sunk.

However, if you search for stuff like inventions/patents/etc., you will find other ways of viewing the same info that shows that US does not have a complete stranglehold on #1.

Interesting video, indeed!

With technology moving faster and faster, can someone please answer me this: when are we going to see those friggin' flying cars! They've been taunting us with that idea since the fifties... it's about time now wink

Hey Kev

It really is freaky when they said that tech is turning over every two years...so that what you're learning now is obsolete in two years ! ! DANG those old dogs BETTER learn some new tricks, huh? OR...be left behind in the ancients ruins of early cyberspace !

Not for long. The U.S. has been steadily underperforming in the areas of math and science. We are consistently getting trumped by other countries in those areas. Many of the latest advances in tech are now coming from Japan and India. We've put so much emphasis on MONEY MONEY MONEY that everyone wants to be a rich stock broker or investment banker here.

Jim,

I saw a news report recently that showed a real life flying car. Not only can you drive it on the roads where it is street legal AND fly it, you can also take off and land from the water and use it as a boat. It was way cool and they've already sold some of them and are ramping up to make a lot more of them. I am sure it's a bit hazardous, but be careful what you wish for.. you might get it.

Yeah, sci-fi geekery aside, I can see the risk in letting every John, Dick and Harry drive a flying car. On the other hand, there was a lot of risk in giving them a regular car too... yet, on the whole, they seem to be handling that pretty well nowadays.

Time will tell smile

Jim,

The problem is that in the air, every fender bender likely ends in multiple deaths or at least massive injuries. Multiple the 100's of thousands of daily fender benders and it becomes a problem.

Well, I would expect them to build flying cars that don't crash and burn after every fender bender. There have been too many safety advances in both the automotive and aviation industries to not do that. If we're going to throw overboard everything we've learned, we might as well strap ourselves to cannonballs for our new mode of transportation... you'll get to where you're going quick and if you're really lucky, you'll live. wink
