Wow, I leave the room for a minute and this one gets a ton of input...love that!!!
Glynda should be very proud of this, she had a lot to work with, Derek did a great job editing, and Mike, well, we know Mike is awesome!
Mike said soemthing about being allowed to "produce" the song, I think it's so important to let that happen. When youfind a creative musician, one who feels what they play, and then can put it all down to be heard, it's an amazing product, no matter. What I've found I like most about working with Mike, he's willing to send a sample, so I can crit that before something is finished. That keeps me in the creative loop and also allows him to explore what he feels is best. That is my biggest issue with a demo house, not having any input on the music or melody, if I'm not happy with it, I've got to pay all over again and wait, and wait, and wait....But Mike is so quick and able to take input along with it. That's so cool!!!
Derek, you done good!! Editing is difficult, but when you get the feel for it, it's great!!!
Thanks everyone, for all your kind words, I'm very excited about this song, I'm also very excited for Glynda. She didn't give up, she has some awesome ideas, just need editing and arranging, so if she hits you with one, read it carefully. If she hits you with a few, find the one you feel you connect with, and you will have a great song, you'll just have to find the best of what you have in front and wiggle it around!
K, thanks again for all the listens and input, that's very helpful, means a lot!!

I'm still here Kaley sent in a song from scratch that has a fast deadline date so I been trying to get that done. So what do you think I do? I take my Glockenspiel out of the closet and re-figure out how to kinda play it and add it to her song. Listen to Kaley's songs tell me Glock & Xylophones don't totally enhance them I'm bad & good lol I have a guitar track for Wendy that is so overdue even though there's no deadline... I keep thinking I'll be able to have my cracked acoustic fixed before I do her song. Not gonna happen, so at least i want to get a new set of those KILLER strings I use on it before I lay it down. I want the best sound I can get at this particular moment for her. Have one last drum track to do for the JPF Donation Demo with Jim Offerman from months ago. So I been pretty busy, I appreciate the support and hope that i can physically maintain enough to "do what I do" Any way I like to make note that Derek laid out these chord changes, That opening & repeated lead phrase, and the feel of this song. I actually did alot of the editing and change making. He had a few good feels going there and only needed to make them go together, then tweak some stuff. It's a lot of work making a song from all perspectives. So now you really imagine what it's like for me when I do the entire thing alone at that level. And yes Caroline demo houses and what I do are different things. Much of the same things cross paths but there are so many nuances that make a HUGE difference. One day soon I'm gonna post up my ADVANCED production or whatever name I'm gonna call it lol... It would be a bit too expensive for most folks purposes but it can help show the varies levels of how things can be done. But I may be able too keep it VERY reasonable for those who want to take things to that level for whatever purpose. It's pretty simple in concept I HIRE who I want to play on the song. This now leaves me to THINK more and produce & engineer without having my hands on every single instrument. Bringing out the best & creativity of other musicians who are more advanced and fluent than I am on there instruments.... But this service I have now is so special cause it enables people to get a $800 - $1,000 recording for half the price. Anyway I'm SO thrilled for all involved and especially Glynda Take this song and crank it in on of the kids cars stereo and really here how it hammers home. And watch there faces You will be the coolest from now on!

Dear Glynda...Caroline...Derick...and Subman this is truly wonderful. I wanted to comment on this last week when I first heard it and shared it with my two kids...but I felt If I took time and posted on one song...I should be listening and posting on others. It's fantastic all the way around you guys....it truly is. 20 year old and 12 year old both gave it a thumbs UP... "Good song, Mom..Tell them that's a good song...".... so this is a family review..."GOOD SONG" so apologize I didn't comment sooner....but I just have a thing about that...and at the moment..I'm working on several collaborations in various stages on and off the board I'm just not good at compartmentalizing. so...wanted to tell ya it's wonderful...and wanted to tell you sooner. and Sub...thank you! Michele and I can't wait to hear it.... SO that's what my songs..need...THANK YOU... :)Mike.... bunches. best... hugs.... Kaley

Hey guys, I'm just gonna say a collective thanks for the listening and time to tell us how much you like this song. Glynda has a way about her writing, gets a lot out, and gives anyone plenty to work with. She's a good lady. Now that no good, rotton, MIA Derek, (kidding) he's just got some way with a melody when something moves him. Yep, that's right, he had a really nice tune going already, before Mike got his hands on it.
OK, enough of the sap, glad y'all like it, thanks for listening, and thanks so much for the encouragment, it really does mean a lot!

And I might add, Caroline is my best inspiration..I remember the very first post I put up, this lady from somewhere came out of the blue and jumped on my lyric and tore it apart, and I said to myself ,oh my...but she has been the best that could have happened to me..yeah, I write alot on a subject, cause by the time I have sat and thought about how it would feel to be in that person's life..well,just all this stuff just seems to flow out. and I just can't stop at a few lines..so I write what I feel inside then I send my mummbled junk out to ya'll...so, what else can I say....thanks Caroline for your sweet words to me..glyn

Glynda, Derek & Caroline:
This is a wonderful song. Great concept, great title, excellent story and music. I've listened to this 4 or 5 times and it just sounds better and better to me.
Sub:
This is a killer production. I love the percussion throughout...it gives the song a driving pulse that sweeps you along with it. Every guitar part in this is excellent, but some of those licks...man, where does that stuff come from? You know, it's one thing to be technically good or fast or whatever but you make that guitar sing. Slow licks, fast licks, it doesn't matter...they are all musical and catchy and they all serve to showcase the song. It's always a pleasure to hear your work.

Mark Boy Mark I love the way you talk When i get down on myself which is EVERY single day, I should just call you "Musical & Catchy" yes yes yes, that's what I'm always talking about. Just being musical, it doesn't matter what your holding or doing... Just feel it first! Thanks so much for your kind words and encouragement and support, especially the guitar compliments are very dear to my heart. As I gave up playing the guitar "for real" so long ago. I've gotten so many wonderful compliments on it from so many people it's very touching. When Mike A (Former Springsteen manger & producer) went to Nashville with his tunes the first thing his major connection said was who's playing these guitars there wonderful, great man lol... Mike said "It's the same guy who's playing everything else" Reply "your kidding" lol.... And last year Iggy telling me about how Grand Funks lead man reacted to my guitar playing meant a lot to me. It is very rewarding and nice to here, I may have to sell the damn thing to pay bills this month but I'm glad some people can feel me when I play it Thanks Mark!!!!

Just a marvelous job by all concerned! Mike sure knows how to polish a song, eh??!! It was shining pretty darned good when he got it. But he managed to make it glow even more. Everything is just perfect...lyric, arrangement, vocal, musical performance, mastering, etc,. etc., etc.
Absolutely wondeful in every way! Congratulations! This should be on the radio at least half a dozen times a day.

Ok, new update and I hope Mike you see this , my son in law, Shawn left for Iraq last week for a 6 month stay, was suppose to retire this Dec. but they put that on hold and sent his group..anyway, he said while unloading his gear and waiting in his truck, ect. with some of the guys, he had this song on and in no time his truck was surrounded and they played it over and over..this troop is stationed in Arkansas. He said they played it all the time they were loading their equipment and stuff on the train...now he has written my daughter and wants a few copies sent to them...My son in law can't believe I had anything to do with this song. He says they all say it's the best they've heard in a long time and the guy who did the music and singing it was so cool and awesome, and that they wanted me to tell you how great you did on this and how awesome your playing is...so here you go sir , i'm telling you now...just got off the phone with my daughter in Arkansas, now i've got to get some copies ready for her to send to Iraq...Mike you did so good sir...glyn

Hi Glynda, Mike and all,
Wow! What an epic sound. I'm struck right off by the high quality of both the lyric and the music.
When I read through this, I imagined a structurally similar kinda song, minor key and medium tempo, but imagined it with a much more "lonesome" sound, kinda like he was singing from an isolated place, like the prison he's in in the song.
This does, rock, though, no doubt about it, and has the right amount of angst in the vocals and lead guitar work to justify the big sound.
Best wishes, Mike

Please give my thanks to your son-in-law and daughter and i wish him a safe & quick return! YA see! I ALWAYS say that people will dig whatever you play them, that includes the smudge the mainstream radio plays daily. I'm not saying that because It's "US" I'm already annoyed about everything I do as it is lol... And this is a good song not your typical todays' pop. YES iand WHOEVER if you think todays POP is so great go get a Bee Gees album and watch them disintegrate everyone on the charts today combined! All by themselves with no help from the boat loads of other greats But anyway THOSE guys think I'm the artist, or the band, they do not care about AGE, looks, they don't even have a video or photo CD cover to see. That's what RADIO used to be more like. I bet if he gives that CD out they will be copying it and many many soldiers are gonna know that song. Even though the content is slightly different form there situation the feelings crossover. Fear is a universal thing, even for the brave.. War can be like a prison no? Tell me they ain't relating to this..... and much more!!! Through the years I've seen many things Some I wish i had not seen I've seen men come and go Some go home and some go well, you know. Oh, Mike you do make me feel so good. And I will talk to my daughter today, i'm going to Arkansas this Sat anyway, and i'm taking the CD's with me..we may not be making money on them right now, but I do feel once it's really out there, we probably will..anyway,how could I tell soldiers going to Iraq and leaving their familes and children no..and hey they think YOU"RE the coolest..they all really love this song..I'm proud of myself for even having it come into my head, even though one lady told me that I needed to see a shrink cause I had some negative issues..oh well, if this is what comes out of it , i'm happy. and I do need to thank Derek for all he did ,he got the music and layout just right and then Caroline came and smoothed it out for us..then you and your magic came and it exploded..and I must thank you all. I for sure will send the Cd's with a thank you note from the 4 of us...thanks so much for what you have done for us and for this song Mike...you're the greatest....love glyn

Wow! Great song, Glynda. Powerful words and heartfelt singing. And Mike, well, I've learned to expect that production from him. That is who he is, that's what he does. A multi-talented singer, songwriter, guitarist, bassist, pianist, drummer, producer and whatever else I don't know about. And that ain't no smoke. GREAT JOB PEOPLE! You and your people are on your way now, Glynda.
