I have the biggest butterflies flying around in my tummy - my Christmas song, "I am a Carpenter (Joseph's Song)" debuted tonight at First Baptist Church in Lewisville, TX, for their Christmas show, "Wonder." The show runs tonight, tomorrow night and Sunday night. I am going nuts WONDER-ing how it went!!! They have a 130+ member choir and a 30+ piece orchestra. They found the song on iTunes, and we got all the sheet music printed up as fast as we could. I wish I could have flown down to Texas to see the performance - I feel like my "baby" (the song) is at its first day of school without mommy. Hope he made lots of friends... I'm waiting here at the bus stop... xoxo Cher

Thanks rblight!! I think someone is - I hope I am still just amazed that this was all done through the internet... none of this couldn't have happened 10 years ago, at least not at this pace. Loading up a song on iTunes in August, someone finds the music on iTunes in October, we crazily send Sibelius files and mp3's back and forth from Nebraska to music copyists who live in LA, we crank out sheet music and a score then e-mail it to Texas for a December performance. Things sure have changed! Cher:)

Congratulations. If someone wanted sheet music for my songs, they'd be out of luck, I don't know how to write music as such, and most publishers don't ask for it any more, so I don't bother paying someone to do lead sheets.

Hi Everett! Thanks! Just in case anyone ever does need the sheet music for one of your songs, there are some great "user-friendly" programs that exist. I was never formally trained, but with the help of the programs, "Sibelius" and "Finale" it's very doable - (my personal preference is Sibelius, but they are both great programs) and I read music a heck of a lot better because of it. For the more complicated ones with orchestral parts, and songs that require a complete score (like for "I am a Carpenter (Joseph's Song)") we use a music copyist - he transcribes a lot faster that I do But for lead sheets we do it all ourselves and it's fairly easy to learn.
