Randy!! Golly...how GREAT! But didn't you get the memo? No one is allowed to post really great art work here anymore. The whole thread is now sort of a an Ode To Frogs in Flowers (real or otherwise). I'm sorry you went to all this trouble, because technically speaking, as a Moderator, I'm allowed to delete this whole post!! :/ HA HA HASeriously, Randy, that is beautiful...I love the Rubenesque proportions. I'm so impressed you did a live sitting with such detail -- 6 hours, huh? She has the patience of a saint...especially in that "POUNCE" position! You kids are getting me SO INSPIRED to take a figure class!! I especially like your loose form (that didn't come out right!). Certainly there is something to be said for "photograph-like" art, but in some ways, I think what you've done is harder. Nice work...I sure didn't know you were an artist as well. Always a fun surprise to find out more about my fellow JPF'ers.... Cheers, Beth-onardo DaVinci

Randy, I am not going to hit you over the head about the proportions because I can tell that you exaggerated them on purpose. In fact I would say that this looks like a mix between Mannerism and Pre-impressionistic or Neo-impressionistic hard to say sometimes times. I like the warm colors you have used and there is a nice dreamy softness to it. I do think that the value range could have been a bit stronger. Although it is your call I feel like perhaps there could have been more you could have done with the hair like make it flow like the Venus De Milo.
Nice painting.

very nice, Randy. When I was in art school (back in the late '70's), we had a janitor with proportions not too far off from this painting (maybe a few pounds more). In class, we always had the slim, runway style models pose. I complained to the instructor that I wanted to paint the janitor - she looks more like real people. I don't think he got it.
I do like the yellow/orange glow on her skin.
I'll kick Beth with my nifty shoes if she deletes this. Just not too hard - I don't want to damage her bones or my shoes.

Really dig this, Randy. Just beautiful.... Love the colors too.... One thing I've always wondered about. I can see the need to have a model pose for a sculpture - because it's three dimensional. Why do you need to have a model pose for a painting though - couldn't you work from a photograph? What does having the model there add to the artistic process? Obviously, I'm not an artist or I wouldn't have to ask Thanks for posting this... Scott

You know, Randy.... In reviewing this thread, I think we're going to have to start keeping a list of "Randyisms". Some of my favorites so far are.... "I migraine so easily""your compliments are much appreciated and remain forever free to do as they damn well please" "If you 'dig it' - lick it 'n stick it on the fridge" [and natch, my personal fave....]"Miss Beth should never, ever be caught on the other end of anything less th'n a compliment."BTW, on that last one....that "never be caught" phrase is key ... Anyhoo, isn't it nice to be special ??? Keep 'em coming! BethandUandADogNamedPooh
