Hi All, I am so very happy to be able to post this song for you to listen to. I started this years ago, and with it being a male song I thought I might never hear a finished song. Then a wonderful cowriter came into the picture, Charles Kirkland. Charles helped me to finish this song and finally I got to hear the completed song with a wonderful male (not mine finally lol) vocal by Charles. Due to the capabilities the internet gives us, this song has parts of Charles and myself on music and vocals, all mixed together. I hope you enjoy this listen as much as I am right now. Charles, thanks so much for your help in finishing this and great performance. Drivin Her To Tennessee http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6257429Letha **Just some trivia:This picture that I put beside the song and here lol was acually taken by my boyfriend when we visited Beale Street in Memphis. The wireman and Beale street were so much fun to see.

Lot to like about the tune. I, too, was thrown off a little by the first verse (who's asking who type thing). It might nice if you snuck in an opening "She asked... Can you drive...".
Would like to hear Letha a little louder in the mix. Instrumentation was pretty cool and everything to fit volume-wise. Good job all around.
Maybe I would like to hear more "tension" in the singer's voice in some of the later parts -- belt it out a little more!

Hi Richard, Thanks so much for listening, I am glad you enjoyed it.
Kevin, thank you too for listening. I guess I never considered that it might not be clear that the first verse is the girl asking him to take her. I am hoping it is clear enough to stick but if too many think not, I will talk with Charles and see if he has any suggestions. Also, I kind of like me being a little lower in the background vocals, they might could use a little polishing lol.
Hey Caroline, Yes, I posted a different version of this one before. I have always liked it and just needed a cowriter to help me bring it to life. I think Charles did great at that.

Letha, Thanks for the kind words and for asking me to help you out with this one. When you first asked, I was hoping I could do the vocals justice. Don't know if I did or not, lol, but I think the song turned out good. Thanks for the BG vocals and Mandolin work too.
Richard, Thanks for the listen. I agree and had actually thought about a duet also. Maybe getting Letha to do the first verse? Just might work.
Kevin, Thanks for the listen and comments. I agree it might could use a little more tension in some places. I'm comming off a head cold and thought I was putting more tension in it than what turned out. I never have had a real agressive voice. I have even been told before that I sing like whispering Bill Anderson. LOL...
Caroline, Thanks so much for the listen and comments. Letha sure writes some good songs. I love to listen to her sing them too!!!

Hey Kiddos,
Well luckily I don't have to do too much thinking here...I'm going to chime in with my pal Kevin. I have read both your's and Charle's respones to him, so I look forward to hearing where you take it.
All that aside, a very easy song to listen to. Gosh, that Tennessee gets mentioned a lot in songs, huh?
Anyhoo, good luck to both of you -- and Charles, hope your head-cold is better!
Cheers, Beth

I remember this one!
Great version here - incredibly touching. Great story-telling too - the whole thing comes through with really very few words.

Hi Charles,
Thanks goes to you. Someone once told me a song is just words on paper till someone brings it to life, and you brought this one to life for me.
Beth,
thanks so much for listening, it is so exciting to get to hear something you write done by someone with their heart in it like Charles did for this.
Scott,
Thanks so much for stopping by and your comments. I appreciate it.

Hi there,
Just had to post this. Charles, you did such a great job! I looked at our song on soundclick today and this is what it is in the soundclick charts:
# 24 in Country (highest position was 24). Total songs: 39,883 # 3 in Country General (highest position was 3). Total songs: 12,144
That's one of the closest to a number 1 I ever posted, lol.
Thanks so much!
Letha

Letha, That’s great! In my opinion I think all of yours should be at the top over there at soundclick. You sure have some good songs. Thanks again for asking me to help with this one. You’ve been a pleasure to work with. Talk to you soon.
Best Regards Charles

Hi Letha & Charles,
Very nice story and told so well. Simple and sweet lyrically and musically, not so easy to do. Wonderful teamwork.
