Hi Folks,
The market is up and down (mostly down) and the race for President, barring a major event, seems to be over. The government is now handing out over 1 trillion of our dollars to a wide variety of what I consider corporate giveaways (bailing out the bad decisions of SOME business people, while letting the others suffer or the ones who made good decisions PAY for it for me is a giveaway at best and downright theft at worst) and there's no indication that it's fixing anything or that we aren't just as bad off (or worse) as we'd have been had they NOT given away 1 trillion plus dollars. If you divide that by the actual TAX Payers (remember, 40% of adults of tax paying age don't pay any taxes.. kids don't either) the cost to each worker is beyond staggering. Imagine if they'd simply give each of us that money to invest in the markets, or get ourselves out of debt so that we wouldn't ever NEED credit from anyone and we could start paying our own way upfront going forward, how much better off we'd be. But the government and their behind the scenes string pullers don't WANT us all out of debt. If we're out of debt, we're free and don't need government handouts. We could shrink the government down to size and focus them on the things they should have been doing all along, rather than trying to win votes by handing out our hard earned money to people who don't deserve it (or worse, people who never worked in the first place). I think that's a bi partisan idea whose time has come. I don't think rational people from either side want people in debt the rest of their lives. But now, thanks to this hand out, that's exactly what has happened. And we've put the next 2 generations into debt before they are even born. Nice eh?
It's time for a balanced budget ammendment. It's also time for a line item veto. It's also time to serious investigate term limits. And I think we should bar anyone with a felony from serving in public office. And any politician in jail now for a felony should be removed from office. Are there any partisan's against that? If so, speak up.. I want to try and understand where you might be coming from.

I thought it was bad because my stocks had dropped 90%. But now they've dropped 95%. I've lost more money than I've made/spent on JPF in the entire 10 years we've been around combined. That's the money that I draw from to live so I can do all this full time for free. So yeah, I am a little ticked off. I think some of the stock will come back a little, but I doubt it will even get near 25% of what it was. Not happy.
Our retirement plan? It's lost 50%. My parents have lost 80% of their entire retirement money that they were going to start drawing at the start of next year. McCain voted for this moronic bailout and so did Obama. But.. and it's a BIG But.. Obama is cozy with the entities that caused this collapse. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are Democratic Party monstrosities in the last decade. Tons of graft and payoffs to Obama and his cronies. Then there's ACORN.. who used race war rhetoric as blackmail tactics to get banks to make loans they should not have. Then the rest of the banks jumped on that bandwagon. McCain did try to pass regulations on them and Barney Frank and his gang of thugs insisted it wasn't needed and blocked it. They should resign in shame but instead they prance around like stuff cats in a bird cage literally laughing all the way to the bank... Chris Dodd's bank that is.. I hope he paid for their party dinner. He could afford it with the graft he got out of all of this.
I am a moderate overall. I didn't vote for Bush either time. I also didn't vote for Clinton or the Elder Bush. All of them had a hand in this as well. But they're all gone now. But Obama is someone we're going to be stuck with for 4 years. And we're rewarding him with the highest office for his deeds. So I am angry for sure. And I am disgusted that partisans in his party make excuses and justifications for his character and actions or ignore them completely because they're so desperate for their "team" to win the big game. And now, if our stocks ever go back up so we have a little money to do this charity work I've been doing for 10 solid years, Obama wants to jack up the Capital Gains taxes so that there's almost nothing left and certainly no reason to take the risk again. Thanks Obama. I'm not in your Top 5%. I am not even in your your 42K group. But I am going to get SCREWED by you on your bullshit tax increases. Thanks for ruining our economy and cashing in with your new job. You say you're a Christian. If your religion is true, I know where you'll be spending eternity.
But that's just my opinion.. I could be right.

Brian... I know I haven't waded in too deep in the past about many things on this forum, but this subject is one that is slashing the American fabric into. I'm going to say what a lot of people think about but perhaps are too unsettled to say so... 'the time for ballots is over... the time for bullets is now'. I truly think our American system has been hijacked by internationalist, greedy bastards who have no morale fiber... they've managed to do it over the years by buying off our "elected" officials. so i hold the congress and senate just as responsible for allowing this "silent takeover" of us. we are the proverbial frog who is boiled to death in cold water! It is time to lock and load and begin cleaning out "full-time politicians" who are doing nothing but allowing special interests to walk away with your folks retirement savings. to my way of thinking... that's a capital offense and so should the punishment be. our founding fathers thought a little revolution now and again kept the republic fresh and strong... i'm tired of boiling in the cold water. just my 2 over inflated cents! rock on, r.

Brian I hope this is not an indication of your state of mind right now. If it is I beg you to take a breath. It ain't worth it friend. I would not like to see this whole fiasco cause your physical health to decline. This kind of stress is not good for your health.
Take a little time away from it all. Let yourself relax. I know it's tough. I haven't got much tied up in stocks. I invested everything in my home and land, expecting it to increase at a normal rate and recoup my investment. I actually treated it like a saving plan and work (sweat equity) I invested a lot here. It was to be part of my retirement fund. This mortgage crash has taken a lot from me as well. We are going to try to ride it out until things improve a little but I fear we will still take a huge loss on our house. I am heading back to Tennessee this week. Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll be there a week. Might drop in on "The Foot". Our house in Tennessee probably won't take as much of a loss but we don't have much equity there anyway.
So please Brian. Try to settle down a little. I been reading your post's these last few days and you are pushing it to hard.

Hey Bob Cushing I'm with you Bud. But, I will vote. I'm voting them OUT. I don't even care who they are running against. I am splitting my ticket and voting against any incumbent. Too bad the President isn't an incumbent it would make it easier. As it stands I don't know what I will do when I pull the lever for President.

No worries on that front Bill. I've seen all of this coming since it started back in the Democratic primaries. Our irrational annointment of people that are famous for no other reason than that they are famous has been going for a while. I've long seen it in the music industry and I wasn't too surprised to see it happen in politics. But I am a little surprised that even when he's exposed for what he is, people get even MORE on his bandwagon. I guess it's the same as when Paris Hilton is exposed for having even less talent than people might have assumed and becoming that much more popular.
Hearing Biden state openly that when Obama gets elected they expect a serious international crises to be launching solely to test him sort of suggests to me that even he understands what we're really doing. We took the prettiest most popular candidate and put them in charge. There are consequences in the real world for doing that. When they cast Paris Hilton as the lead in a movie, all you get is a really bad movie. When they case Obama in the lead for our country, what we'll get is far far worse. So Biden is simply getting us ready and telling his rich investor friends that they should hedge their bets to protect their fortunes. I think that part was lost on the media. Biden protecting his crony rich friends. What a shock.

I would think that it is a racing certainty that as soon as Obama moves into the White House, the terror mob, will up the ante....he will be sorely tested somewhere along the line..not withstanding, all the "fat cat's" all over the world who have caused this financial meltdown, and now have the begging bowl out to keep them and their corporate lifestyle...people's investments, pensions, and property, hitting rock bottom,..energy prices soaring,(even tho, the oil prices has halved since July)the war in Iraq, which if it ever comes to a solution...the terror mob will move on to Afghanistan, that will be the next "Achille's Heel" for the American's & British..they are priming it up right now,and that is one of the poorest countries in the world,it's currency is opium...Iran,The Middle East,Israel,Palestine, and the nuclear threat therein, not forgetting our old pal's The Russian's,The Kitchen Sinks(The Chinks)and the last bastion of old communism North Korea...then you have Pakistan and India..who aint exactly bosom buddies either...mix that lot together...welcome to the White House Mr Obama...Ain't it a pity there wasn't a shuttle service to the Moon...All the "Fat Cat's" would have holiday homes up there....but they will have to say down here with the "plebs" and enjoy the ride with Mr Obama.
