Hi all, I thought I would put a southern gospel song up I wrote. It goes along with a bluegrass type soundtrack I wrote, and the harmonies are from what I learned in my church when I was young with my mom. Song page: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6658117It's very short and simple but I hope you enjoy it, Letha Burden Lay down, your burdens They're way, too heavy You got to lay Them burdens down Oh leave, your troubles They ain't your friend Don't let Them troubles in Oh close, your eyes My child, it's time Just to leave Them burdens behind

Letha,
Love this. It's very moving and sounds much like an old spiritual. The harmonies were really nice too. I wish I could sing harmony better. Awesome, as usual!

Music at its purest! There are churches in the south (probably north, too) that don't allow instruments to be played at all. I never understood that, but I guess just singing can work too! I like the a cappella treatment (it's great) -- harmonies are just wonderful. Really enjoyed that.

I don't need no stinkin' instruments! Well, I wouldn't if I could sing like you, Letha.... You nailed this - it sounds perfectly authentic. Awesome! Scott

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for listening and your comments. Funny you say that, because the church I was raised in believed that exactly. I guess I would say that the harmony that came out of that tiny little place still warms my memory today and probably made me love music as much as I have all my life.
Thanks again
Letha

Thanks Scott,
It probably is authentic, lol, still like the old way my mama taught me to do it, but I just branched out in a few other directions too.
And although I haven't heard you do harmony, I have heard you sing and I like your singing. I still can't get your Champlion song out of my mind. It is wonderful.
Thanks for listening and your nice compliment

Hi Wendy,
Thanks so much for your compliment. You know how much I like your style of writing because I had to sing not one but 2 of your songs. I think your songs are soundtrack material, especially Die Pretty. I really like your style and sound and sometimes I envy the sweet tone of your vocals, lol.
Thanks for listening and have a great night
Letha

Again Letha, you have so much passion in your singing. This is no exception. This could be a congregational/choir sing in a church and work well in a film setting given the right scene. Refreshingly different for the MP3 board. Good work!
Best, Lynn

Hi All,
I can't answer you all seprately because it would look like a billion people looked at this so it is a group thanks, lol.
Thanks again to each of you for listening and for your wonderful comments. I am glad you mentioned oh Brother Ricki, I watched that show about 6 times! The whole soundtrack I wrote is along this line, some with cigar box guitar and some with mandolin. I wrote another a cappella (I learned how to spell it right Kevin!) song called "A Workin Song". I forced my boyfriend to sing it and we did about 6 different voices and clapping on it like the old field workers chopping. It makes us smile and laugh when we listen to it because we know that each one of those strange voices we hear are our own lol.
I guess I should put a link to it, so you all can smile with us too. I will put it in a different post.
I appreciate you all...and Caroline, I am chompin' at the bit.
Letha

Lyrical content is excellent. Enjoyed the harmony and acappella singing.
