Thanks Stan! You're absolutely right... once the cat's out of the back, no more secret! I suppose I should have written "You were my secret love" Jim.

Hey Jim,
Are you originally from the Netherlands, or are you a transplant there?

Jim, loved listening to your song. The quality of the piano and vocals are exceptional. That studio certainly gave you your money's worth I don't know about TampaStan's observation of it being "Bluesy" (sorry Stan) but I do agree with the others about your overall packaging. The website works very smoothly and looks great. Is it a blog format? Looks sort of like my WordPress blog except you've got that cool widget which plays the audio track nice. I also noticed the links in your Footer, about Creative Commons license and Pump Audio. Do you have a lot of experience with CC licensing?

Are you originally from the Netherlands Yep, I'm a 100% native Dutchman! I only pretend to speak English Jim, loved listening to your song. The quality of the piano and vocals are exceptional. Thanks! That studio certainly gave you your money's worth They sure did. They are awesome! I don't know about TampaStan's observation of it being "Bluesy" (sorry Stan) but I do agree with the others about your overall packaging. The website works very smoothly and looks great. Is it a blog format? Looks sort of like my WordPress blog except you've got that cool widget which plays the audio track nice. Yes, it's a WordPress blog with a tailored design and some (custom) plugins. The audio player widget is actually just a free plugin I grabbed from WordPress' repository. I also noticed the links in your Footer, about Creative Commons license and Pump Audio. Do you have a lot of experience with CC licensing? Depends on what you mean by "a lot"... I've done a fair bit of research into the pros and cons of CC licensing. I wanted to have no legal road blocks for fans who want to share my music with friends (it's how I make more fans, so that's a good thing), while at the same time keeping options open to make money off my music. The license I now employ (CC-BY-NC) does that for me.

We got a ton of music from your country this year.. so I wondered how we could get more of your country folk to visit the website and get involved. It's likely going to take 1 country to rally their peers for us to break the log jam of non USA/Canada/UK/Australia dominated activity.

It's likely going to take 1 country to rally their peers for us to break the log jam of non USA/Canada/UK/Australia dominated activity. I think the biggest problem is that JPF is pretty much an unknown to the Dutch music community. I would start by inviting the Dutch people who entered their music to the forum (I could help draft an invite in Dutch, if you like). Some JPF related local press would help too... perhaps officially establishing a Dutch chapter? Hi Jim I was enjoying my listen...and my wife piped in from upstairs and asked "who are you listening to, sounds great". Two thumbs up from Chicago. Thanks!

Everyone that I've met from the Netherlands has spoken perfect English. Are there many folks under 50 that don't there at this point? I am curious as to how folks feel about English being so common. I realize it's practical, but are there cultural resistances to it becoming so commonly spoken?

There is no cultural resistance, because foreign languages (not just English) are very much a part of our culture. Has been for centuries... historically, we're a nation of traders. Most of our trade has been with other cultures, which made the understanding of foreign languages a necessity. I don't think there is a Dutchman alive today who hasn't been taught a foreign language in school.
