Hi,
I'm interested in hearing about anyone's favorite sound modules-units triggered by a midi controller as opposed to a stand alone keyboard/synthesizer. I'm also interested if there are wonderful sounds available which are computer generated. Primarily, I'm interested in vintage keyboard sounds(rhodes, hammond, etc.) and orchestral sounds. Thanks,

I think one of the best modules out there right now is the Korg (of course) M3.. it is a midi module with dual sequencers, tons of great sounds, built in arpeggiator and Karma technology. CHeck it out at www.korg.comJeff www.virtualartists.com/korg4god

If you want a true Hammond sound on a computer, Native Instruments has a little program called B4 http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=b4ii , it's the only thing I've heard (other than a B3) that actually sounds right to me. Cheers, Rick

Hey Steve,
As an 80's keys player ( is that vintage enough ?) you had to have a Korg M1, a Yamaha DX7, and a Roland Juno/Jupiter. That sort of covered all the bases.
All these are available in VSTi format, and seemed to be being used everywhere. I think the kids refer to them as "ancient" but very retro cool. LOL
cheers, niteshift

Hi, Thanks for the replies. What sounds are available with the Ensoniq unit?
I have a Korg wavestation and a Peavey dpm-v3, but would like to expand my capabilities. I also have a Hammond and leslies and not looking for this sound. Does anyone have experience with the Proteus-2? I'm interested in orchestral sounds.
Steve

Hey Steve, I think one of the best orchestral products around would have to be the Roland HQ OR... http://www.roland.com/PRODUCTS/EN/HQ-OR/index.htmlVery natural sounding, and easy to use once you spend a bit of time with it. cheers, niteshift

The ASR-10 Module is probably a bit different than what you're looking for. It has no internal sounds. It gets booted up off a floppy disk (or hard disk with an OS), and you load sampled soundsinto it. I've not touched mine for about 15 years, but tyhe sound quality is only as good as the recorded samples. Some things are amazing with it, and I've used it in the past to record vocal harmonies to songs.
