Hi Folks,

I am curious... how many songs have you written to date as a direct results of participation on the Lyric and MP3 Boards? That could mean you were inspired by, or you co-wrote with others, or you learned new approaches that you put into new songs etc. There's no specific reason for this question, I just thought it might be interesting to learn how many songs are JPF Board Babies..

sorry brian. i haven't written any. usually my inspirations are sporadic and out of the blue, especially when i'm in the shower or jump out of bed to find a pen and paper. other times they come from just working my guitar for a sound and rhythm and then the lines flow. it doesn't happen here for me but i love to read other works.

I saw the title(but never listened to)"He Died in My Place", inspiring the following
song, which I've since renamed "Stevie's Bar" so as not to offend. This is not the final mix.

http://www.esnips.com/web/svasilsOtherStuff/

I may as well say that I believe God to be a God of love and not a God that will send me to hell for not being a wonderful guy. I believe there are wonderful choices and less than wonderful choices and that all choices have consequences, but that being the case, there is no supreme being waiting to send me to fire and brimstone if I screw up. I believe there is simply one power for love and peace and its absence, as there is light and its absence, darkness. There is not a power for love and a power opposing love. I believe we all carry divinity within us-we all have an internal sense of what is right for us - what is right for us isn't necessarily right for everybody else.

Lately, wife Kim and I have written songs aligned with "The Secret" and the works of Jerry and Esther Hicks. I could give an example or two of these, but I've rambled enough already.

Other than this song, there are none inspired by JFP.

While I haven't written any songs directly inspired by my participation on the boards, I have revised several songs using suggestions given by those who were kind enough to offer advice. One such example is "Raise A Son" which can be heard at: www.broadjam.com/Summeoyo
Some were having trouble following who's who in the lyric. So I included more references to "Dan" in order to accomodate that concern. Thanks JPF.

Brian, I think there were a number of JPF babies born on this board from the earlier days. Dawg and Bobbie had some of their lyrics put to music by JPF people, Tink, Blake, Couch, Judy Holier and I know that Chuck Crowe put a lot of lyrics to music as a result of their interaction on this board. I think Kaley has done some composing for others. I have seen a lot of lyrics refined on this board that later became finished songs. Can't remember them all though. Sorry.

I'm not sure I was inspired by the board, but they certainly saved me more than once from thinking a song was finished, when it clearly wasn't.

I'm sure I've finished 7-9 songs from suggestions and advice from the board. It's all about quality baby!

I've had a few inspired, a cowrite and have gotten some very good advice. I find inspiration in the strangest places, a picture, name, or just something said during conversation of another lyric.

Songs that I wouldn't have written at all if not for the boards? 1

Songs that I wouldn't have written as well? Many.

I got a few lyrical suggestions that I incorporated into some of my lyrics. I love the tough reviews that people give here. Even if I don't agree with what they might have to say, I respect the candor.

My only problem with the review forums is that there seem to be far more writers than reviewers. When I post a song, it is usually the same people who provide the feedback. It would be nice to get some fresh perspectives.

You should think about offering incentives for posting reviews. One idea would be to get a programming mod that would keep a running account of reviews for each reviewer and would then use that count to allow him/her to post his/her own song for review. For instance, for every two reviews given, the reviewer can post one song for review.

They would need to be quality reviews in order to count, so you would likely need to have a moderator approve of each review posted so as to prevent reviewers from posting one line reviews like 'great work. I love it'. That isn't really a review; rather, it's an opinion.

Five out of the last five, Brian. Beyond that, I have to start counting on the other hand, and it gets confusing.

All told? Probably a lot. Definitely not all. I would agree with the person above who said participation on the JPF Boards has made them a better writer. That's difinitely true for me.

Joe

Well the 2 songs that I have posted thus far are not jpf board babies, but it has been great being able to bounce them there, to get some needed feedback! I wrote those songs before finding jpfolks. I want to take the time here to say that the forum boards are wonderful! It's a nice way to exchange ideas, see what others are writing, give and get advise, and above all stay inspired! So THANKS! Just wanted to share that! Anita

Life was once a beautiful thing when we were able to live it.Love is such a beautiful thing when we are able to give it.Time alas has no meaning when there is no time but it takes but a moment for one to be so kind
