Hi all, I am a female country singer with one problem : I don't write or play an instrument. Okay well that's two bout ya know what I mean. LOL I can play a little key board and tiny bit of guitar but not enough to say I can really do it. I can write but think I would need help to be good anyway. I am looking for new songs to put together a demo. I am looking for band members and I assume I will pick up songs there but I just wanted to see what is out there as well. I am 33 and while I look and sound young I am not the Taylor Swift or teeny bop country. I am more along the lines of Sugarland or Martina, and Carrie. I have a very powerful voice with huge range. Let me know if you have anything I can listen to. Thaks April

LOL Thanks I am an original that's for sure. I wanted to use this quote but it wouldn't fit: Hell, I've always been old Ben. Ya' know what though, I don't mind. I mean if my muscles ache, it's because I've used 'em. It's hard for me to walk up them steps now, its 'cuz I walked up 'em every night to lay next to a man who loved me. I got a few wrinkles here and there, but I've layed under thousands of skies with sunny days. I look and feel this way, well cuz I drank and I smoked. I lived and I loved, danced, sang, sweat and screwed my way thorough a pretty damn good life if you ask me. Getting old ain't bad Ben. Getting old, that's earned
Anyway yes I am amazed at how awesome everyone is. I started inL.A. as an actress at 18 and that is not a friendly biz but the music biz seems like everyone (for the most part) just want to help one another.

I listened to a few of the ones you mentioned and yes I would love to record some. How do we go about this. Contact me via email either her or at nashvilleapril@yahoo.com Each person has wanted different things so I am a little confused as to how this works. Some want to allow me to do it for free to get their songs heard and others want me to pay so what is it you do?

Hi, April. Welcome aboard.
Country music is mostly what I write, and most of the songs are intended to be able to be performed by either a guy or a girl. What you hear on the tracks on Soundclick and MySpace is a guy, because, well, I are one.
Virtually everything's on Soundclick, except for "Rotten Candy," the song that was rejected by American Idol. It's on MySpace. (And it could use a good female voice, by the way. I just don't happen to have one.)
Everything's up for grabs. Let me know if anything suits your fancy. Thanks.
Joe

Hi April,
It's always great to meet new interesting people here at JPF. I would like to invite you to browse through my soundclick site below. Everything there has been demoed at various Nashiville studios and those demoed by female vocalists are tagged as such. The newest demo is the song "Goin' Goin' Gone" done at Bayou Studio using a female vocalist whose voice you may recognize. It is a story about a woman finding her courage to finally end a bad relationship. I think you may like it, as well as possibly a few others. Best of luck to you.

Hi April,
I've demoed a # of female country songs, from real tradional, to country pop. Check out "He Cooks In The Kitchen Too", "Bad Weather Walkin'", "Can You Hear Me Now", "Mama's Words", Butterfly And Bumblebee" plus more at the second soundclick site below. There are more on the third site below too. If you like what you hear, I own the masters, and everything is on WAV Files, so if your voice was put on instead, you wouldn't have to redo them. I would sign a waiver allowing you to use any of them for demo purposes to get a recording contract, or gig. If you plan on using them in sets, we would have to make a per use contract too. I have done this before. Let me know waht you think by PM, or at jsell50@gmail.com .

I do believe it is country enough but I think it's a little slower a tempo than I'm looking for. Do you have anything that's alittle more up tempo that might work?

What do you mean you bought it exactly? There's probably enough songs in Nashville to not have to "Buy" any. What kind of "Agency" is it?

Hi April I saw this post and remembered there is one song I did from a female perspective that you might be able to use (actually it could be either) but I did my best to try and sing it. The music is real rough it's still up on my soundclick I think. I'll post the words here and see what you think. I'd definitly redo the music first and I think you could probably sing it better . Well here goes Broken down broken heart 1st Verse My heart sure needs an overhaul Some one know a good mechanic? It’s got some old worn out parts My friends all say don’t panic Pre chorus You’ll find a way to love again It just takes time so say my friends But I’ve got a broken down broken heart With pieces scattered everywhere I try to turn the key it just won’t start How can I get to there from here? When will I find a way to love again? When I’ve got a broken down…broken heart 2nd Verse I can see a tow truck pullin’ up To take me to the repair shop The driver sure is cute lookin’ My heart beats fast it won’t stop Pre Chorus Then I recall things from the past My heart aint’ ready to move this fast Chorus Cause I’ve got a broken down broken heart With pieces scattered everywhere I try to turn the key it just won’t start How can I get to there from here? When will I find a way to love again? When I’ve got a broken down…broken heart Bridge Well maybe it’s time to warm this jalopy up Time to get ready to run the race of love Chorus Don’t want this broken down broken heart With pieces scattered everywhere Maybe you can turn the key make it start Help me to get to there from here I want to find a way to love again Help me fix this broken down broken heart Copyright September 8, 2007 Derek Hines all rights reserved BMI

Hi, April! I'm not much into Country writing (but I LOVE the music, though). I've written a few Country songs that I'd like you to listen to. They are not on www.betarecords.com/raesoulman, but please listen to those songs, and if you'd let me have your email address, I'd send them to you, as mp3s or via a link. Heygirl, I was born in Russelville and raised in Louisville. I couldn't help but respond and wish you the best even though its been months since you posted that. I live in Albuquerque, nm and am a singer, songwriter. I don't have a band and I mostly have written Christian songs and a one country. Getting anyone interested in my music has been a struggle, but good for you for putting yourself outhere. I wish I had done that long ago. I don't think I had the pipes or the confidence at the time and I was raising 4 kids with my husband. I'm a young 54, but don't feel like it and sure as hell don't plan on ever lookin like it. Best of luck. Maureen.

April and Miss Twang, I am Marc-Alan Barnette and I work with artists and singers here in Nashville and try to help them from making mistakes and going broke. What exactly did you mean by "Buying" some songs? AS you see here, songs are not in short supply. They are everywhere and these wonderful people here are guiding you right where you want to go. In Nashville most of us have dozens of songs on every subject.style and tempo, you should give some idea as to what you are looking for, what you want to say, what kind of voice you might have or want to have. You just need to find the right song for you and what you want to say. I myself have backing tracks on my songs that you could sing to to find out if it might be right for you. We are all here to help and on sites like this, Song Ramp and others you will find friends willing not only to help you because it is right, but because you might be the vehicle to get their song out there. I have been here twenty years and have a business that consults with writers and artists in order to give them the best shot they have. If you need help, just ask away and I will be happy to provide information and I am sure you are developing a WHOLE bunch of big brothers and sisters in music. Just keep the ears open and ask questions. You will do fine. i have seen just about every minefield singers can step into so if you are having questions, feel free to ask here or visit my web site. www.marcalanbarnette.com. Always happy to help. Good job everybody. Sounds like a couple of great prospects for songs here. Go get em' folks. And that offer extends to all of you as well. I professionally do this and am trying to help out all the community of songwriters. Let me know if I can help. MAB
