Hi Mary and welcome to JPF, a great community of people trying to help each other. Your post is interesting, it certainly sounds like a good start, however, rather than emailing everyone individually, why not post here! !
1 where the event will take place
2 how it will be set up
3 will people pay to get in? yes? no?
4 what is really the purpose here (ex. witherspoon to sell her designs and make money, while we all come and play for free to help her do it)?
5 will musicians need to bring amplification? Or will there be something there?
6 Just solo artists? Bands? genres?
7 who is likely to attend?
etc, etc

Please excuse me if you think I am being rude, but you are a first time poster here, no one knows you, and taking 3 hrs at least to come to a blind meeting on a summer Saturday is alot to ask on the very limited info you have supplied so far. Looking forward to hearing more about it.

The event will take place at 1900 Fulton Ave in Chicago. It is a networking event to showcase the work of up and coming artists who want to get exposure for their talent. It is our hope that we can help artists to make new contacts for future opportunities. Myself and Kristena Witherspoon are paying for the costs of hosting this event so that artists will not have to pay to participate. Tickets will be sold for this event. We will provide staging and basic sound equipment for groups of 2-3 musical artists. Our set up cannot accomodate large bands. There will also be a projector screen available for artists to show videos and promotional info about their work as they play or in between sets. All genres are welcome. We expect all types of artists to attend this event along with businesses who have related interests. Representatives from a local entertainment website will be present to film the show and post it online for additional exposure on a free website that gives local artists a chance to showcase their work.

Artists can stop by the meeting on June 14 at any time between 1:30pm and 3:30pm to find out more information. The purpose of this event is not for anyone to exploit artists but to give them a platform to perform and an opportunity to make new contacts. I appreciate your feedback. If this is not the place for artists to find out about events like this I will no longer post information here. I hope this answers all of your questions.

interesting...1900 Fulton...is that like a warehouse? is this an inside or outside event?
This IS a place for these types of promotions Mary, just trying to get a feel for the event. Thought I am the only one who posted, this thread has been viewed 37 times ... I am sure people had similar questions to mine.

Wish I could be there but I'll be playing the Blackhawk Folk Festival in Wisconsin on June 14th.

Your event sounds like a worthwhile one and I hate to miss it.
