Hey Dallas Area FOLKS! Just wondering who all is still around the boards and what areas you all live in, what kind of music do you play, what venues you play or may be looking for? Even if you are from outside the area and love music, give us a shout. Drop a line! -Chik

Hey hey...
I'm in Keller - grew up in Dallas - and I write, teach, perform, produce/arrange, judge, listen, and love music!
I'd love to see the D/FW JPF folks get to me more active...

Hi Chik,
I'm up in Pilot Point... about an hour and a half north of Dallas My music tends towards folk. These days I haven't been playing out hardly at all since I haven't found appropriate venues. Mostly I sing at church... and lately I have been going to the new little bar in my town... and doing a set when the main guy takes a break. (or in place of him last week) Very small place, but filled with locals, so I am at least networking for local events... I would venture down to Dallas IF.... I knew where to go. Would love to see the Dallas group get active. Most venues I've looked into locally (in Denton) are geared for bands or strong country...

Hey, Longview. Just saw your post. I'm new to JPF from Palestine just down the road. I used to play at the Reo Palm. Got some good friends that have a band called Shinebox that play longview quite often. If you see them, tell them Larry Weber said hello.

Hey folks... Sorry we have been so out of touch.. we are expecting our first baby any day now and being 9 months pregnant in the hot TX weather is not fun!
That said, we have moved to Denison, TX, about 45 mins north of Dallas. I would encourage all of you to check out the Main Street Showcase at the Rialto Theatre here in Denison. They do an Opry style show every week and recruit new talent to sing all the time. They do all types of music. My husband has become something of a regular, which has been awesome. They sponsor a "Showcase Showdown" contest of their own each year, along with a local tv/raidio station, with cash and recording time as prizes. Its a great bunch of folks, live band, no CD's, and the band plays music using the Nashville number system so they can play pretty much everything.
I hope to be able to find some mor eplaces like the Rialto. Will share the info when I do.
I think it would be great if we could get this chapter up and running full throttle in the near future!
Take care all, -Chik

I live in Tahlequah, OK, about five hours from Dallas. Much of our family is in NE Texas, though, so I do gigs/concerts a lot there. I sing & write mostly Christian music (contemporary/pop, inspo, worship) but a lot of singer/songwriter, positive country, film music, and also ADOPTION music/events (due to my "adoption song", Child of My Heart-- actually perform that for public & private agencies in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas [live] and several other states [via CD now, coming "live" in 2008]).
I'll be singing in Ft. Worth for NATIONAL ADOPTION DAY downtown at the Family Law Center on Sat. Nov. 17th (private event-- celebrating and finalizing adoptions on 76 children by 53 families! What a joy!)
I'll also be singing at Temple Baptist Church in Hurst/Ft. Worth on Sunday morning Nov. 18th at 10:30. You're ALL invited!!
How about you?? Hope to meet each of you one day soon.

Well, I'm the new guy on the block. Best place to get to know me is at www.mistertroll.com. I went to a lot of trouble to get my website to look exactly like a Myspace page . There are several Open Mics on my page that I'm active in or co-host. And, I need a band. If anyone likes my stuff enough to want to play it a lot, drop me a note.

Terry Allan Hall checking back in, after a lo-o-o-ong hiatus, posting from the wilds of Wise County! Mostly gigging solo in restaurants, institutionals (nursing homes, VA Hospitals, etc.) and area festivals these days.

Ok, for ya'll that don't know me from the boards i'm Glynda Duncan and my friends call me glyn...well don't know if you know about Brian Whitney having a stroke latley, he is recovering but is still not up to par as of yet...
Janet Snow is having a Pig Roast/field party in KY in the last part of May probably and since it's too far for us Texas folks, it was suggestive I help do a Bash N Crash here In Princeton, Texas where I live on the shores of Lake Lavon..I live around the corner from the RV/campsite hookups and there is restrooms with shower faciities and there is a place with a roof over it with electrical outlets for musical equipment. We have the biggest catfish in the area caught here , so we could have like a chili cookoff, fishing tournament, raffle, with singing music acts coming and going, this could be a 3 day campout benefit with the proceeds going toward Brian's medical..if anyone interested please leave me a pm or call me at 972-736-1097 and let me know what you'd like to do and see about if this is something that is worth proceeding with...thanks in advance and please let me know soon as this one will be around June..need time to get it all rolling...thanks glynda duncan (glyn)
ps and please let me know if you'd like to be an act and how many songs you'd like to play, since it's a 3 day deal you could get alot of playing time in...thanks again..

Hi this is Glynda Duncan and i'm still rounding up enough folks to have a Dallas/Fort Worth/East Texas chapter...i'm right in the middle here, i'm in Princeton, so I can travel to all areas so we can get a chapter going here that's live and active...I still need a few more members, so if you'd like to get together sometime, or receive news on what's happening, we need to get enough members so we can have our own chapter here in Texas.
Even talk on the phone or email each other on what's going on...
So hey, no matter where you're from in Texas if you want please leave your name here and we'll see about getting this all started..thanks glyn
