Apologies to my Floridian hero TampaStan
Twenty Chickens for a Saddle ©2008 J.Williamson
In Broward county lived a Seminole lad no Injun name, folks called him Chad a Democrat boy with a sad,sad story and I'll warn you right now,it's somewhat Gorey
while everybody counted ballots day and night jackasses on the left, pachyderms on the right on down to Mexico Chad skeedaddled to try to trade poor Juan twenty chickens for a saddle
now here's the part where the story gets sad Tampa Stan got the jump on poor old Chad while the folks back home sought the winner of the battle Tampa Stan paid Juan twenty chickens for a saddle
well Stan came to show off his Mexican bounty but he never returned from Broward county they still talk about the searching and the trouble they had beating the bushes and........hanging Chad
So down where gators roam and diamondbacks rattle watch your step if you trade twenty chickens for a saddle

Hi Jim,
Nice to see you puttin' one on here, especially one as interesting as this. I really liked "Gorey". And somebody really needed to hang somebody down there 'bout them hanging chads. I liked how you brought all the different elements into this one, thanks for sharing.

Wheee, that was a FUN Ride, Brother Jimmy!
& yeah, the Chickens (Electoral) HAVE "Come Home to Roost" down hereabouts....Helicopters were flyin' ALL OVER the City the other day when Obama paid us Tampans a Visite...(I'd not taken the time to apply for a "Free Ticket" to the Mob Scene, so "Missed Out" on "History-in-the-Making"..as it was touted to be.)
I'm mentally coin-tossin' between O and Mc this election to be...I'm all FOR "Change"...yet Mc's a Republican AND a Vietnam Vet, 2 Qualities we both have in-common. (& Personally, I don't think either one WILL make a Great "Change" in the Way Things Are...it's the little Mom-&-Pop Entrepeneurs..like La Femme & Myself..who'll have to Buy us outta the current Recession..eventually. (&..we're certainly NOT able..nor In The Mood..yet..to Do So.) ('Cuz we're waiting for Someone Wealthier to buy our 2 Houses-for-Sale so WE can pay off alla OUR indebetedness & retire.)
And..the way Gas Prices seem to be going, we'll ALL soon NEED Chickens..to trade..since we've shifted so MUCH of America's Wealth OVERSEAS, buyin' Crude Oil. (I've lost my notes..but the paper said the other day that when Crude hits $200-a-barrel, the Furriners can BUY Bank of America in about a Week's Reciepts..Apple Computers in about the same time...etc., etc., etc.) And..yep..we'll ALL be needin' Saddles..to get to whatever Work we can scrounge up!
Hopefully, we can get this Nation into smaller cars ASAP & Head 'Em Off at The Pass, Amigo!
Cool Lyric..tho I'm in Hillsboro, not Broward, meself...(Browards where alla them Rich Folks live...Miami... I'm on the Workin' Man's Coast..the West One. LOTS fewer Hurricanes ever hit This Side..heh..(But the Property Taxes & Insurance ARE killin' a lot of us Older Residents off on the Idea of "Retiring in Sunny Floridaland.")
No Apologies Necessary, Amigo...I got a Great Early Mornin' Laugh out of this'n'...& that's as good as Sunshine, any day of the year!
Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug, Sore Butt from the Pinfeathers Stan

Thanks John, I'm glad you liked it...I thought about putting something in there about the perils of "counting chickens before they hatch",but I figure it's wasted breath trying to reason with the Clintonites. Boy the "Devilwoman" really stepped in it yesterday. If Big O wasn't already looking over his shoulder,I bet he is after that veiled threat. JBW

Howdy Stan my resurrected friend, Yep, I'm sure glad you've got a sense of humor since I made you a candidate for "Forensic Files". I needed a reason to hang another Chad out your way...sorry I had you eliminated in the process :-) However,I'm glad to share the spreading of Florida sunshine with Anita Bryant....whatever became of her anyway? I share your dilemma about the lack of decent candidates to choose from again. later gator, JBW

JBW,
I thought I had found all the chicken posts! Anyway, you've brought yet another slant to the chicken theme. I can't comment on politics, but it was an enjoyable read.
Very clever and amusing.

JBW,
Timely to the season of election we are in. Great word play and allusions. I'm wearing myself out laughing!
Keep writing.

Well done, JBW! We will never see the end of the possibilities with this hook.
A great and timely tale...a little old and a little new.

Thanks(Lyle)Mark, Yep,that hook is as unforgettable as walking through the henhouse barefooted. I sure got a kick out of your Roger Miller style ditty dealing with that hook....but I'm still walking around humming "I Wrote This One For Cash" :-) JBW

JBW,
May I have your permission to use this lyric in the "Hook Hunter's Heaven" project in the chapter on how an individual lyricist's life experience and unique perspective affect the development of a Community Hook in different directions? I would note your name, your copyright info, and mark "Used By Permission" to ensure your rights are retained for all other uses.
It may be not all the lyrics generated by the 20 Chickens hook will fit into the chapter. But I will try to include as many as I can fit in.
If you will give this permission, please let me know by email: <SkipJohnson777@gmail.com>
Thanks!
