Does anyone own a Solitaire guitar from Boulder Creek or played one maybe at a trade show or something? I'm looking for feedback before purchasing. I don't have a store near me that carries it. I really like the concept behind the guitar. This is what I'm talking about Solitaire Picture

So that's a soundhole on the side, not a drink holder? <g> Interesting. I've never seen one. I'd have to hear it.

Never played that particular one, but the side soundhole is an interesting addition to your sound, but only for you...noone else can hear the difference.

If you like the Guitar and it is reasonably priced buy one. There are a lot of dreadnaught style guitars for sale at give away prices. For an example check out the Epiphone AJ-1 on Musician Friends Web Site. It is currently $99.00. I bought one some time back for my grandaughter that wanted a guitar like my Martin D-18. It is an excellent Guitar for any price.

Go ahead and git you one. Then git one a them hole saws, attach it to yer Black & Decker and put a big ol hole right where there is 'spose ta be one. If ya need to trim it up a little, use a good sharp chisel. It might not sound any good but at least it will look like a proper git-tar.
Let us know how that works out, will ya?

Truman makes a very good point. I think the guitar would look less unfinished if it had *something* where there's supposed tio be a soundhole. A nice big smiley face, maybe?

most jazz guitars don't have the hole there, they have a pair of f-holes. So if you're creative with your paint you could go that route too. The Turkish sazes have their sound hole on the bottom of the belly right beneath the tailpiece. Really an odd placement. I've got one that sustains forever.

I'd like to hear one of these too. They've gotten good reviews from what I've seen. More Taylor than Martin, apparently. They don't have the standard X bracing on the top. Instead, there are these really lightweight aluminum braces that look to me almost like curtain rods. They're supposed to make the face of the guitar really vibrate, which gives it a lot of volume. Personally, I think the "Solitaire" at the sound hole spot is really cheesy. They should have done a stylized inlay sound hole or f holes.

Is there an established price line? I'd have to feel it play too. I do like the drink holder though.

I am not fond of unusual guitar designs. I happen to love the traditional designs, so I only see gimmick in this guitar. However, if you like it because it is unique and different, then go for it.

I think I agree about the weird design. I have met some folks who have guitars with the soundhole(s) in weird places, and they just don't sound right, no matter what. Even the oldies with the F-holes don't sound the same as the "traditional" soundhole instruments. Not saying they sound bad--just different. I probably couldn't live width the "different," myself.
As far as the drink holder goes, I think it's probably better to have the drink holder mounted on the mike stand (I *really* want one of those). Less chance of spillage when you're doing a rendition of "Johnny B. Goode," for instance.
If I had one of these "Solitaires," it'd be for the specific purpose of playing it on stage with a great, big smiley-face where the soundhole ought to be. And I don't think I could bring myself to pay $999 for that.

Hey Joe, I bought those drink holders for everyone in the band once. Unfortunately, one night we had a singer sit in with us and use my mic, he sloshed good canadian lager all over my stomp boxes. Why is it singers never have their own equipment?

Rick, I think singers do have their own equipment. It's called a "voice." And when y'all go to a gig, you bring your guitar, and amp, and stomp boxes, yada yada--and they bring their voice.
