Stan, this one would be a great song in a musical with that snappy music they can dance to while they sing it...real catchy...I was humming the tune of Mr. Sandman to it while I was reading it, not sure why, but it worked...good luck with it...Moker

HiDee Bro Moke!
I wuz actually thinkin' this was more a Rocker, a la Tom Petty meets Mick Jagger...(Pitched it to Unka Chuckie via PM...hopin' to Hear Back...)
That "Soul of a Musician" Thread..and Your Mention of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" in it..REALLY got me Inspired this AM. (I'd never taken the time to research Johnny Mercer's bio before...never knew he & Judy Garland had a Thing Goin'...Long-Time. Fascinating Guy/Fascinating Career, too!)
You are SO right to Inspire Other Writers to TRY to crack the "Commercial" Boundaries...in search of that "Great Song". I've tried to do My Bit, too...there's nothing Sadder than a Great Musician or Writer with NO Checks in da Mail.
NOT that I have any Bigg'n's to Report..heh! But...waal..I'm a-workin' on it, even as we speak! (& doubt I've lost TOO much "Soul" along da way...hopefully!)
Thanks for Your Kind Visit & Inspirin' Words, Amigo...& Good Luck on that Big Cut that's a-waiting ya..prolly Real Soon, too!~

Hi Stan, Like this a lot...you make writing look so easy. It just reads so quickly and with a just-right rhythm in the words. Thanks for sharing yet another entertaining piece with us! Kristi
A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be. -- Abraham Maslow, American Psychologist

G'Mornin' Mz Smiley!
For me, it IS pretty easy...it's ideally Just Like a Chat, only with Rhymes tossed-in!
NOW..if I can just get some of Chuck's Great Guitars & Counter-Rhythms Added-in, this Baby's got Hit-Potential!
(&..What's Extry-Fun, "Cravin'" when sung by a Rockmeister...also sounds like "Craven"...) & fer-sure when a Rock Tune has a "Satanic"-feel to it, it gets Airplay. Definitely allus worked for The Stones~!
NOT that it's in the least "Evil"...but I am having some Fun with People's Minds & Heads of-late!
Thanks for Your Kind Visit & Kind Words, M'LadyChum! Big Weekend Hugs, Stan

Heya Stan!! I'm DIGGIN' this one. Great piece and you've got some AWESOME lines in here. My only suggestions would be that since you DO have some really GREAT lines here that the "senses/fences" and "night/ain't right" seem out of place since they have been used so many times in so many songs. Now, if you like them...they are perfectly good lines and the song as a whole is a really great piece, so if you decide to leave them alone, it still works! But that was just a small suggestion. Overall, great job!! L, GG

Hey, Thanks for the Honor of Your Visit, GG!
I'm inclined to stick with the Less-than-Great Lines 'cuz this is really Just an Ordinary Guy workin' on a Special Gal's Mind..heh-heh..AND true, that "Senses/Fences" Couplet wasn't Poesie in da Least...BUT..its Mundane-ness lulls ya just-enough so Bridge One kinda screams Right Between-(Her)-Eyes..with that "just ain't right" being sung like a Scream, & 3 notes right up da Scale on it.
Ol' Mick would have a Field Day with this'n'...with maybe an entire Gospelly Gal-Choir singing those Bridges behind him...heh!
And...somethin'n with a Sinister Feel behind the Verses..tho I have no Stones Tune in-mind that's real close to my head melody..at the moment.
I AM definitely "Open" to any Sugs for those Lines ya mentioned..(&..still a-waiting Musical Co-lab'in' as well.)
Gotta Scoot..yet Another Grandfather Clock needs a "Heart" Transplant!
Best Weekend Wishes & Big Weekend Hugs, Stan

HiDee Favorite Doc!
Hey, Good Luck on that Cruise...they're incredibly-relaxing!
La Femme just dug up some stuff on "Round the World" Cruising...$12.5K each..for starters..(Yikes!).. But the "107 Days" part I liked...a Lot! (Just wonder what all gets Missed..in that brief a travel-time.) Would sure beat running to Airports/all those Security Checks, time after time.
But..we-uns ain't goin' nowheres 'till at least One House gets sold (& emptied-out)..so Travel remains in the "Pipe Dream Category" for the moment. Full day ahead finishing fencing project at the Pink Place... Jammed a Tree Spade into my Big Toe 2 weeks back..(Went right thru a cluster of Giant Bird of Paradise plants I wuz separating..into my stupid foot..below) & its finally shed the toenail/I've ceased limping around! Wife has had somethin' in her lungs for 2 weeks...(maybe walkin'-pneumonia?) & continues at half-speed/& irritable, but-of-course! 23-yr-old-son's worn out the Valve in his bathroom's shower, so here comes a $200 Plumber's Visit to fix it..(I know 'cuz 2 yrs back, had the Identical Problem in Our Shower..litle plastic part wears out/water drips...then Gushes...constantly.) &..it's HOT water...so there goes the Propane Bill this month, too... HOPE the guy shows up TODAY to fix the thing!
But..weather here's Gorgeous..in the 80's/sunny as all get out.
This was a Fun, I think Very Commercial Lyric...& hope it gets out there eventually..'cuz my head melody continues to play it over & over again...(As few of 'em usually Do! Heh!)
Hopin' to get to those Vocals this week..soon!
Hope ya get some Relaxing in BEFORE your Cruise...ya sound Real Busy..doin' that Double Duty stuff!!!
Best Wishes Amigo, & a Busy Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Hi Stan I had to check this one out 'cause of the title and I was not disappointed. Nice hook and job with a sensuous one. Yeah, I think Cindy has a point if you can replace those rhymes it would take it up another notch. But it's pretty cool as is. jm

My coffee's not kickin' in...is that a SKULL in that Guitar Case,or are my glasses just fogged up? ;-)>
OK, M'LadyChum(s)...here is a stab at a New Couplet for yas, to replace the Fences/Senses one ya finds So Mundane:
"I'm HOPING... You could be Much More-Trusting I'm HOPING... Your Attitude's RE-Adjusting..."
Dunno if that's what ya were yearnin' for...but..it does have more Flavorful Rhyme to it/conveys the Earlier Meaning of Barrier-breakdown. Continues to give The Gal that "Intelligent Aloofness" I see her as-having, too.
So...let me know if that's An Improvement...or if It's Still a Bit Shy of The Mark, O.K.?
Many Thanks for your Kind Visit & "Heads Up", Kind Lady! Big Tuesday Hugs headin' Your Way! Stan

Birds of paradise plant is kind of nasty. We have one here before but I cut it instead I planted the vacant space jack fruit just last week I harvested 5 small fruit the size of football rugby ball. Gave them all to my father in law. Some of it are consumed by my 2 dogs. they even eat the seeds.
SO you perform yourself oniechtomy. Thats painful without anesthesia. You are very very brave.
200 dollar for a plumber is very expensive. Here I fix it myself. I just go to this mall of hardware products bring the busted part go home and replace it myself. Before I used to hire plumber but our local plumber is not good. Im more good. SO what the point paying him where I can give a better repair. The doctor way.
God your son is really bum. He doesnt care maybe he needs to be ejected to your house soon.
By the Way I recorded one of Lyyn Orloff song in video and posted in you tube. I posted it in mp3 forum. So far 3 folks give some good comment for the song. Try to visit it see me play in my own home recording studio

HIDee Doc-migo!
I've tasted & seen Jackfruit...they're kinda like Pineapple in flavor..& get downright HUGE! (No luck at growing them..alas!) HAD a 25-foot tall Carambola Tree..FULLA fruit, 'till clock shop backyard Neighbor's garage burned down, now it's just TRYING to re-grow from ground-up. SHOULD sue the guy...replacement tree'd cost $3-5K..but am just too-busy at the moment. DO have Pink and White Grapefruit..& Sugar Apple trees a-growing here..& a Jamaican Lime, too..plus the Usual Orange tree or two.
My Big Toenail fell off by itself..about 2 weeks of limping later. Bravery and Stupidity are two attributes I lack. I figured Mother Nature'd make it look like a TOE again if I just Left it Alone long-enough...& so far, so good! New Toenail's about 1/8 of an inch long..& growing! Old toenail looked like a 2-inch long Turtleshell..think La Femme's already tossed it out...
I'd TRY to fix that Valve in the Shower, but KNOW I'd prolly mess up the job/it'd cost me More! Sold a Clock for $200 yesterday that I bought at Flea Mkt for $75, so Plumber won't be TOO bad all-in-all...tho he was in Sarasota ALL day yesterday..so it leaked all day again, even tho he told us how to shut Hot Water Off (Tank still spewed it out all night anyways..but I needed a hot shower after a day of Fence-Post digging!) The 23-yr-old's, alas, Family...but I'm REAL close to letting him live outta his car. He does add to our "Security" here..& it's not the Best of Neighborhoods to Not Be Home in. Every Curse has A Blessing, & Every Blessing seems to have a Curse.
I'll go listen/look at Your Song In-Action!
Thanks again for Your Kind Visit, Doc! Happy Tuesday to Ya! Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Your son is a good security. Dont let him go just disregard my advice.
EVen he play countless hours of computer games one day he will realize what hes doing in front of the computer is a full waste of time.
Nice thing here when you fix something the guy who sell the busted products give you advice how to replace it so you will not going to mess your job. Also they are also good in giving suggestion instead of replacing the busted one they suggest to replace the whole system especially when the old system will not be around in the coming years.
By the next year my jackfruit will increase its size. I already dumping my dog poo under the tree.

Hi Again, Doc!
My wife never backs me up when I suggest Junior's Moving Out...or finding a Real Job. So..it's like having an extra-hungry Pet in the house.. Along with 3 cats & 4 MacCaws.
No Dog for Poo to fertilize here any more...La Femme got extra-depressed a week back & gave the Yorkie away, before her trip to Atlanta. It was peeing non-stop, all over the place...& she's got the Extra-Sensitive Nose. Me? What's a micro-scopic dog cost? WAY less for food than a 23-yr-old. But..I gave it to her/she can do what she wants. I never smelled a thing..& the Cats had made friends with it..no small feat! At least it's new owner had a pooch for it to play with & a pet door so it could head out on its own when the urge to sprinkle arrived...hope it fares better now!
The Shower Valve is not real bad...lasts almost 5 years of day-to-day..Rockwell makes it. Built into tiled walls...doubt if replacing the Whole Thing'll ever be cheap...(One knob controls hot & cold, & tilting it upwards controls the Flow.) Re-piping & retiling'd sure cost more'n' $200..I am sure!
Been looking up "Porch Swings" all AM...pretty pricey those things, too...decent ones are $200-250..& UP!~ Nice wicker (Polypropyline Rope, waterproof) model at SEARS is $250...gotta check it out...that's $20-a-month for a year, the way I look at it...so it's almost affordable, even as bad as Finances Go these days.
Best Wishes, Amigo! Big Guy-Hug, Stan

I wish Im your neighbor in florida maybe I adopt the yorkie. maybe thats the reason the yorkie got lost or the real owner throw it because it pees all over the place. The real owner got pissed off and decided to throw the pet away.
Got my female mongrel dog here that teach my pup lab to climb in the spiral stairs and go to our roof. Now my lab pup is like this mongrel I can find him all over the house. One thing this mongrel never teach to my lab is to chew leather shoes.

HI Again, Doc-Migo!
Yeah, I kinda Miss The Yorkie...but, we got the Plumber here now, to take up the Financial Slack..now that the Dog's Gone! Always SOMETHING eating up all the Extra-Available-Loot, it seems!
I LOVE Spiral Staircases!!! Brought a Cast-Iron 100-yr-old one home from Europe in our Military Move...Movers had a heck of a time packing up the 13-foot long Pole it stacked onto...Used to go to an old Church's Organ Loft 10-feet-up. Paid $200 for it...sold it for $1200 when I gave up on building a 50-foot Clock Tower out front, back in 1990. (My Architect Cousin designed it..but bids started at $65K..& 1990 was a Recession Year.)
More-recently, I traded a $50 Fan for a rusty ol' Modern Spiral Staircase (Prolly $2K when new..they fabricate 'em in Sarasota) that's behind the Clock Shop..Another 13-footer... Gotta sand, prime, & paint it..but it can wait ('cuz it'd probably get stolen IF I made it "pretty")..'till Someday we install a Pool & Deck at our New Digs...(When all that Music Money is Finally Tricklin' In..heh!) It's Ugly-as-all-get-out, but at least it's paid-for/available when I finally get back to it!
Dogs & Leather Shoes...just like Matches & Gasoline, eh? ;-)> POOF! ;-)>
Back to the Plumber-Watchin'...he's a real Pro...if I gotta say so myself!

Hmmm..Sung it's "You could be (pause) MUCH more-trusting"..so it didn't FEEL like "Filler" at the moment. &..I liked the Alliteration of the M-Ms there...
I'll continue Pondering...(& hoping onea You Gals MIGHT pen me a couplea Better Couplets?)

I'm HOPING... You Will Come to Your Senses =You will drop your pretenses HOPING... You'll Take Down Some-a Your Fences...You'll lower all defenses 'Cause, God, We Could Waste..ANOTHER Night & WASTIN' This LOVE-TIME JUST AIN'T RIGHT... G'Mornin' Mz Gem, & Thankee!
Hmmmm...."pretenses"...It's not bad, that line sug...but dunno how many of you gals enjoy bein' told ya got "Pretenses"...so Singer'd be shootin' himself in da foot..JMO.
DO like the concept of lowering "Defenses" tho...so I'll mull it further, OK?
I'm fond of the "another night" line, 'cuz it hints they already know each other a bit..& here's Yet-ANOTHER Stab at "Getting to Know You"..
"Strong Flames" I like..."Vigil Light" is WAY too-poetic for this Guy..methinks. I did kinda enjoy coining the phrase "Love-Time"..tho perhaps it's already been used by Someone Else..it's such a Logical "Moniker" for the time spent makin' Love. (In fact, I was searchin' for a Hook this AM, & I'll prolly expand upon it, since I've not written much last week or so.)
I'll definitely play with "You will Lower Your De-fenses" for that last line. Thanks, MLadyChum, & I appreciate your help in Focusin' on what'll be the Next Song, too!
Big Wow, It's WEDNESDAY Already Hugs, Stan
