Aaaand it's on a night when I can't attend. Darn it! Would love to support an OMN in this area, but that's an evening I can't make. My free nights are Monday, and sometimes Saturday and sometimes Sunday. The family has stuff going on every other night.
Seems to me that it's going to be musicians only. I doubt a lot of people will be shelling out five bucks to watch an open mic night. I wouldn't. I'm not being disrespectful because I love the fact that someone's trying to get something going, but I don't get charging the non-participants. It's not like I'm going to invite a friend to come see me play at OMN and ask them to pay 5 bucks when they can see me play for free at Taste or Tanya and Matt's or Tre Amici or any number of places. Other musicians would feel the same way. So the non-musicians would be... whom?
Perhaps the intent of the 5 dollar cover is to keep out the riff raff. If that's the case, then it's a pretty good idea. I must admit, if I can ever pull it off, I'd love to attend one of these to see what they're doing. Again, I'm really happy to see someone trying something like this in Pasco. Between Hudson, Port Richey, New Port Richey, Trinity, and Holiday, there are hundreds of musicians...

Hey all,
I went up to Colorarama Music last night and what a venue this guy has put together. It may be a bit far for some of us to attend but, Les has a pro sound system, pro lighting and a stage preset for shooting videos. A full drum kit with sound shields, lead amp, bass amp, totally plug and play. He also has 5 acres set aside for outdoor concerts with plenty of parking. It is set on 20 acres 3/8 of a mile off of US 19. There were a few people there last night and he told me that last week the place was full. I made enough tips to cover my gas getting there. It is also BYOB so the people don't have to buy outragously priced drinks. I agree with Richard that some people won't pay the 5 bucks to listen to an open mike but some will. My only issue is the location. It took over an hour to get there. I didn't get a chance to see the studio but if it is anything like the front of the house is will be more than anyone would need.
I will go back, maybe not every week but once or twice a month would not be out of the question. It is worth checking out.

I wouldn't mind carpooling with Bob or anyone else from Pinellas at least to check it out.

Bob, If you don't mind stopping here I could drive us up. I got four modest cylinders that could get us there and back. I'd have room for one more human and guitar if anybody else is interested.
