Ok, Lol I am not trained, just love to sing and play, not the norm sounding so maybe not the commercial sound you are looking for, but have done bluegrass, country, gospel, blues and rock. I use audacity. Thanks and good luck http://soundclick.com/lethaLetha

Hi Mike
I am a learner regarding singing and songwriting. I was just wondering if you had the time could you listen to my Country music song "Don't push my button" it is the first song that I have ever written, and I haven't done much singing through my life. I currently need to have a lot more singing lessons, but I thought I done alright, for my first song.
Just a reply is all I am asking for.
Thanks

Michele Aussie girl from down under Australia Not bad at all for a first attempt. They say your first 100 songs are just practise songs before you write you first real song. If this is your first practise song, I'd love to hear your first real song. Nothing wrong with your singing either IMHO, the more you sing the better you get. You go girl.

Hi Everett
Thanks a bunch for your lovely compliment, I am really enjoying JPF, and chatting to others all over the world. It is great to get other peoples opinions, this gives me the confidence to keep at it, and I am thankful to those on JPF who told me how to set up my soundclick link.
I am working on doing my own album now, thats a challenge. I think I will go okay with it, I have a good ear for music, I love it.
I went to have a listen to some of your songs, but I have no sound at the moment, so when my hubby gets home I will get him to have a look, and fix it for me.
Take care Everett, and thank you.

Michele Aussie girl from down under Australia Hi Michele Glad to see you here! good song and for a first song GREAT! I Love the title.... and I think you're voice is unique. With some work on the technical end and pitch etc... you can be kicking! The way you don't sound like everyone I hear is a huge plus..... Very classic Countryish popular (pop) sound as well. I just did a massive review of a song on the Mp3 forum and I'm wiped out at 5:56 am but you should post this there and get feedback from the whole crew. I think you show potentail in every regard and your demo skills and guitar playing friend shows the same...

Hi Mike
It is late over here at the moment, I just got home from work. I was so excited to get your reply, and also from Everett. I have had a strong feeling about "Don't push my button", I have know doubt it has potential, as my listeners here love it, it's a song that many can relate to. There first response is, Catchy, when can I get a copy, I dream about singing this song in front of a huge crowd, could you imagine the crowd with the chorus, I can. "That's just a dream" I need a lot more singing lessons, and confidence with my vocals, as I suffer with Post traumatic stress.
Paul Nunns, is the guitar player, and he has been my inspiration, and has done a fantastic job on the demo. Paul has his own recording studio, and done nothing but encourage me, and gave me the confidence to sing the song. When we recorded me singing the song, it brought out vocals that I never new I had, I shocked myself, Wow, is that me, was my thoughts. So much fun, and I would like to say thank you, for your compliments on my singing. I will also let Paul know.
I am currently working on the lyrics for three songs "Call a taxi", "Get over it", and "I'm just an Aussie girl from Australia", what I am finding hard, is the lack of money. Paul worked with me on "Don't push my button" for a great price, and has looked after me so much, I appreciate everything he has done for me, and at the moment I am financially struggling, this becomes frustrating for me, as I want to continue with what I am doing. Singing lessons alone cost me $50 & $40 an hour Australian, and to work with Paul also costs, so at this time I feel like I'm hitting a brick wall. I thought if I could get my first song out there as a single, this could provide me with the money to continue, and also I would like to contribute funds for Mental health here in Australia. "How do I get my song out there? as I know nothing about the music industry at all, or "am I better to financially slog it out until I get a full album done".?
Mike due to not knowing much about these computers, can you please give me some advice, "how do I put my song onto the Mp3 forum".
I would also just like to say a big thank you, for taking the time to listen to my song, and for the confidence. I look forward to hearing from you regarding my questions.
I hope you understand my reply, as I am tired, off to bed now.
Thanks a bunch
Your Aussie friend
Michele

A single will be cheaper to release and if you can get radio play, it could give you an idea if it would sell if released on a full CD. Not much call for singles to sell unless they are cheap and cheap gives little profit. I released a single once that took off with all kinds of request for airplay, I had to scramble to finish making the album so I could take advantage of the singles popularity.

Thanks Everett for your advice, yeh I do agree with you, I would rather do the whole album. I like the other songs I am working on, and I want to get them out there as well.
Looks like I will have to save them things called $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Oh well, maybe 2009 I will be able to accomplish the album.

Why not burn your own single on CDs, design your own labels and covers and sell em!!! Start with your family and friends. Put the proceeds towards an album. Just do a few to start with then you can judge how they are selling and make a few at a time to order.

That is a good idea Jim, I am currently getting my children's school involved, as to putting a film clip together for the song. It's going to be fun working with the kids and there is a few little fixes we have to do with the song first. And yeh I will see Paul and see if we can get something going. My friends and family are proud of where I am, and for my achievements with my song, they love the song. I shocked them!
Well, everyone I know is wanting a copy, so yeh that would be a good way of starting to earn some money, so I will be able to continue on with my other songs.
Thanks Jim

Check first and see what price you can get for a single and see if it's worth doing. Figure your cost for blank CDs, labels and ink, plus your work and wear and tear on your burner, etc. Years ago when LPs were on the go, I would press so many singles to give to radio and sell to jukebox companies, more for promotion to help sell the album, not much profit in selling them, unless you could sell a lot.

I would charge slightly less than the going rate for a single CD. But make sure you make money from it. Calculate a unit cost. Add up prices for blank CD, label, jewel case, Ink, time etc. It would also be beneficial to see how much a commercial run would cost. Your guitarist pal might have contacts. Do not get discs pressed though until you have enough orders to justify it. Check out CD baby. They might be able to help with distribution etc.

All this advice, how lovely and caring you all are on JPF. Thanks Everett and Jim, for all your ideas.
I thought I might look at getting another job, and just keep working on my album. I will look at both options, if I get a job that earns me more money, I will just keep working on my album.
Another way is, I smoke, and it is no good for my singing, and to give it up would be a big saving. So wish me luck, I am going to by the patches and have a go at giving up these smokes. This is a real hard challenge, as I suffer with post traumatic stress, and I am not on any medications, I do with out it. Smoking has always been a bad tool, thats helped me get through. So next Friday, I have decided will be the big day. I will chuck this HABIT.
Big hugs to you both, Everett & Jim.

Smoking is bad for your health and your singing. When you are tempted to have a smoke, visualize the smoke coating another layer on your larynx.

Hey Mike, I got my song onto the Mp3 forum, thanks to my little helpers, if you get time, out of your busy agenda, to do a critic, would be great. I love what you do, thanks a bunch.
