First song on the player: www.myspace.com/coreyparkmansongwriterAll the Life ©2008 Corey Parkman (lyrics, happy thoughts)/Al Carmichael (everything else) At the family reunion My uncle was braggin' again Wowin' nephews and cousins With all the places he had been Pubbing in Ireland, skiing in Vail Mountain climbing in Kathmandu
Traveling the world and living well
Looked at me and said "How 'bout you?"

I just said... I’ve flown fifty feet into Big Sand Creek from the bridge on Collins Lane Danced all night by candlelight, ridin' out a hurricane Sipped champagne with a beauty queen in our cabin honeymoon suite
I'd go happy if I died today 'cause All the life I've lived is all the life I need (x2) He shook his head and said "Listen, You really need to get away There's so much life you're missin' Spendin’ all your time in this place He told of the French and the British Art, religion, music and such Then I told him when he was finished
"I really haven't missed that much" I've heard BB King pick the blues and sing in an Indianola field Cried on a Bible at church revival and had my broken heart healed Raced a GTO down a country road at neckbreakin' speed I'd go happy if I died today 'cause All the life I've lived is all the life I need (x2) Bridge So I've never run with the bulls Or danced in the Paris rain At the end of my life's journey, brother I won't complain (Repeat Chorus) Yeah, some would say I've never really lived 'Cause there's so much I've never seen But all the life I've ever known is all the life I need

Corey, I haven't listed to the recorded version(can't get there from here), but as for the lyrics, I think they are wonderful. You paint a clear picture. Detailing fond memories and show the difference between two people's ideas of "success" the best part is that you are not swayed by what another feels is success. The only line I would consider changing is the last in the bridge - the story is between you and your uncle, and the last line is, "brother I won't complain". I would consider just dropping the word "brother" and leaving a contemplative pause ending with just "I won't complain". This unifies the bridge with the rest of the song. I'm looking forward to going home where I can actually hear this.

Thanks Tom. Huh, I guess that slipped by us... but the "brother" bit doesn't really register when you listen to it. But that might need changing. Hope you get to listen to this. I'm pretty darn proud of it.

One of my old bandmates lives in Brandon, MS now. He's an old geezer like me. :-) Do you know Randall Mooney? He's president of DeRanz: http://www.deranz.com/I think he can still wail on his guitar, AND he built a top-notch studio. Gotta check him out sometime.

Sounds great to me. Good lyrics and Al is in good form as usual.
Couple minor difference between the lyrics posted and what was sung. Not a big deal, but you may want to make them match 100% before you pitch it.

Hi Corey,
This was terrific. The singer has a lot of character...and unlike his uncle, doesn't feel the need to keep chasing a dream. Uncle still doesn't get that it's the journey that matters, not the destination.
Altogether a great hook, very smart writing, and music which helps propel the story...
Good luck with this one!
Cheers, Beth

WOW! I'm glad I stopped to read this one and listen. This reads and sings like just what Nashville would be looking for. I can picture Trace Adkins doing this big time. Great hook! You are a very good writer Corey! Pitch away!!!!
Best, Lynn P.S. It also gave me an occasion to listen again to "These Were The Days" which is also very very good!!!!

You were right - when I listened to it (very well done by the way) the "brother" reference seemed to go by unnoticed. As a read, it could be confused with who you are addressing, but in the song and the way it was sung, it's more like a "sigh".
I hope to hear good things about this in the future.

I'm trying to listen, Corey, but MySpace is so logjammed at the moment.
"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Thanks Kevin. And thanks for the heads up on the lyric. We'll get that synced up before we pitch.
