Hello...Member Ted (Teddy Joe) Bryson suggested I post this here under General Discussion. Hope I'm not violating any JPF rules!
My songwriting partner, Leslie Bowe (who also happens to be my son-in-law...yup, it's true!) is playing the Bluebird for the FIFTH time this Sunday, January 27 - the 8 p.m. show.
As his mother-in-law, I'm obligated to gush about him. But as a music lover, I have to honestly say he's amazing. If anyone is in Nashville and feels like moseying on over to the Bluebird Sunday night, I'd sure love to meet some new friends.
And BTW, you can get a taste of Les' music at: MySpace.com/lesliebowe.
At the recent TAXI convention a hit producer pronounced him a "modern-day Marvin Gaye." Also, he's often compared to Seal, John Legend, or as a throwback to Sam Cooke or Otis Redding. His music is Neo-Soul, R & B, Adult Contemporary and Contemporary Christian, but he can also sing a great country tune! Les is Native-American, and he's one of those rare performers whose music transcends all boundaries, appealing to all ages and cultural backgrounds.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to make the trek to the Bluebird! Nancy

Hi Nancy:
Five times at the Bluebird. Wow! Wish I could be there to hear him. Obviously, you have a double interest in this performance and I hope he will be playing something co-written by you.
If you think of it, let us know how things went. The "Bird" has either changed hands (NSAI) or is in the process. Since Les has played there several times, your input in whether or not the atmosphere has changed will be invaluable to us here at JPF.
Knock 'em dead!

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your support! Yes, the Bluebird is now owned by NSAI, but the last time I was there, in October, it was the same as ever. No elbow room, but a great energy.
I understand it's a bit rare to play the Bluebird five times, so it's great for Les to be there again. However, I don't think it's the place to get noticed, necessarily. As with anything connected to success, it's ALWAYS about making meaningful connections and building relationships. The first key is to "WHERE and "HOW" to make that initial connection. So that means trying every possible angle to make it happen.
Yes, Les will be singing a couple of songs I've written with him, plus an old blues song he wrote eons ago.
I'll report back in a couple of days and let everyone know the latest on the Bluebird. Cheers, Nancy

Hi Emily! Thanks!
I'm hopping in the car in a few moments, on my way to Nashville. Just thought I'd give this notice a little "bump" in case anyone in that area hasn't seen it.
I'd love it if I could meet a couple of people from JPF at the Bluebird tonight.
Have a blessed Sunday! Nancy

I want to thank JPF member Bill Robinson for coming out to see Leslie Bowe at the Bluebird last night! Thanks so much Bill!
I don't know if anyone else made it - but it was a packed house and Les was absolutely incredible.
Ok...enough mother-in-law gushing! Cheers, Nancy

Hi Nancy
It was my pleasure to come to the Bluebird. Les did a great job, had the place rockin. It was nice meeting you and your Husband. I was intrigued by his story of the commune. What an adventure.
