Looking to buy a new keyboard for gigs, and to tote to Nashville and other parts of the U.S. for events.

Do people have any suggestions of a good keyboard (and carrying case) for this purpose? I have been reading about the new Yamaha NP-30 Digital Keyboard (read the review here ), which sounds awesome, but unclear to me if it is small enough to carry onboard a flight (and I feel that buying a hard case and checking it in will kind of defeat the purpose of buying a 12 pound keyboard).

how many keys do you need? And what type of music?
I've carried an alesis micron (37 keys) many times. Good for pop/rock/ electronic, but no "real" sounds like acoustic pianos.

Otherwise, I think anything else is too small (25keys - Korg microX). Some airlines may allow you to take along a Korg x50 or x5d, but some won't (i.e., 85% of domestic US).

I just checked out the Korg x50 - nice ergonomics, light with carrying handles on both ends. Typical Korg though - good strings/pads, poor pianos.

Im very very sorry about this.

Im just pissed off with this guy yesterday after learning that hes the person who posted on our soundclik page criticizing all the songs without offering something. I never thought he was the one because hes hiding himself now in 3 different names until I saw his post here. YOu already give him advice in our chapter but still he stays the same and now wreaking havoc giving biased opinion on our site full of vendetta, generalizing all of the songwriters songs as very poor vocals, no hook, and no commercial appeal. I can take it if he is professional enough to state his name. After researching to find the identity of this guy I cannot control my anger and frustrations.

Heres the translation if I violate anything I will accept any punishment.


(You've been here all the time, you should have told me to include you in our compilation of Access 2 myusik album. We are not hard to talk to instead you post some negative comment on our soundclick page.

You know we have to be together in this industry or else nothing will happen to our craft until we all eaten alive by big label productions.)

You guys should just leave each other alone. How about we draw a line in the sand and both of you stop addressing the other on the site and stop attacking each other in posts. And if we ever find evidence of someone pretending to be different people on here for purposes of attacks and harrassment, we will delete them and ban them from the site.

Just be professional and let the idiots stick out like a sore thumb on their own.

Brian, thanks. I'm trying to stay on-topic.

I just feel that I have to answer some accusations on this - I have not used different aliases to attack nor harrass anyone here or in any other site. I think it says something when someone looks for your posts and posts off topic just to assassinate your character.

The incident mentioned here is on another site - I agreed with another poster, and it was assumed that the original poster and I are the same person. And my opinions are always about the WORK, not the person.

My fault is that I can be very candid and concise, and I am very opinionated when it comes to music and plagiariasm. I apologize to YOU for causing any problems, but I won't apologize to people who condone plagiariasm.

Back on topic - I have taken the Alesis Micron on various trips across the US last year. But they hardly allow "big packages" anymore on domestic flights. Prior to 9/11, I was able to bring on board 61-key keyboards.
