Hi Folks..hope you all had a beautiful New Year and that your Christmas was merry. I had the worst New Year in my life. My country is in a political crisis and only God can see us through. There has been looting, shooting and wanton destruction of property. I saw bodies in the streets, houses burning and militia hovering in my neighborhood. It is by the power of the Most High that I am able to write this note.
I never imagined Kenya would one day reach this level of political and ethnic intolerance..but I pray that God will see us through. Goodbye Folks and hope to be back soon!!!

I am watching the news as I read this and the situation in Kenya is desperate. My thought go out to you and your fellow countrymen. I hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel and solutions can be found very soon without any more bloodshed.

Hi Frankie,
I've been hearing bits and pieces on this situation. It breaks my heart to see such violence and bloodshed.
I will keep you and yours, as well as your country in my prayers and thoughts as well.
God bless,

All this started over what appears to be a rigged election. Even democracy has its flaws. Lets pray that level heads prevail.

Yup, It also happen here! All the candidates won the election. My piece of advice for an experienced one. Stay away in politics. You know there is no right and wrong on that aspect and at the end of the day all you got is enemy and worse a bullet in your head.
My prayers is with you for your safety. Lynman

Hi Frankie!
Sorry to hear (& see) what's happening in Your Country, Amigo!

I hope there's an Outbreak of Peace in this New Year, my friend. It's never too late.

I've been out of the loop and didn't know this was happening Frankie. Thanks for letting us know and I hope things improve for you soon. Remember that people act irrationally over politics and religion and you usually can't reason or rationalize with people about either, especially when danger is a factor. Please be careful and let us know you're okay when you can check in.

Thank you. God is with us and the rest of the world experiencing similar difficulties. For sure if He has kept us alive now, He is still the same one that will keep us alive tomorrow. It has been a horrific new year for me though!
I cannot imagine how politicians can bring bloodshed in their own countries because of personal greed. It is even more disturbing to see brother take against brother, sister kill sister over an election that was rigged by a politician!

Hi Brian
Thanks so much for your message. I am still alive and longing to write a new song! The situation is still very tense though the bloodletting has temporarily stopped..I mean there has not been a political solution yet. I pray to the Almighty that He saves this beautiful country with 'once' peaceful people! I will keep posting as long as I am ok..and share with you what I went through..let the world know that peace must never be taken for granted and that violence and danger are always lurking everywhere..it takes just one second of insanity for hell to break loose!

Frankie,
Often when hope seems to be on the verge of lost, music and artists can bring it around again. You should use your music and words to express what you're feeling. What more important motivator could you have?

Frankie, the enemy(you know who the enemy is)doesn't want peace, he is going around like a roaring lion seeking whom he can destroy, because he knows his time is short. Prayer is your only weapon against him.

Hi Frankie
I also don't know you. But my prayers are with you. I know in the midst of horrible savagery it can be hard to see it, the truth is God (who created the heavens and earth) Will see you through. There is nothing on this earth that can destroy you without God allowing it. And even if your body is destroyed the greater the joy you will have standing next to him. I know this hardship is more than most of us could bear. I also know God has purpose for you and a plan for you don't give up hope he will save you! Derek

I am praying that the lack of news here in the "States" recently is not an indication of more violence, hence fewer reporters venturing into your country. I am also praying for the safety of you and your fellow countrymen.
Be careful and please keep us posted.

Frankie, I don't know you, but I am praying for you and your country. I've been reading your posts and I am touched by the level of faith in you. You have encouraged me through your posts. Please keep praying, and keep writing songs. I can only imagine what power your songs must hold. May God built a specific hedge of protection around you and your family during this time. May He use you as an instrument to heal those around you and to usher in a greater healing in your nation.
Sincerely, Stanley Porter

Frankie, Most of your lyrics seem to be about your love for, and hopes for, Kenya. This has got to be hard to bear. I hope you are in a relatively safe area. Somehow all these years I thought that Kenya was an enlightened and stable country that was immune to the turmoil of the surrounding African countries. It was just the last country African country I thought would fall into the hands of intolerance. Do you have any idea why this is happening?
When I was at the University of Oregon, my favorite athletic was Kip Keino who won a gold metal in Mexico in 1968. As you know, he is from the Kipsamo, Nandi District, in Kenya. I actually got to run with him in a 10K meter race in Eugene, Oregon. He is a humble and decent fellow. Sorry Brother. Be safe.

Thanks so much Brian. Actually all through I have been thinking of God the Creator and the talent that He gave me. Praying that He keeps me safe till I utilize the special songwriting gift that He gave me!
Yesterday I was just very much worried of the situation and the future (our political leaders are holding agreement talks right now and we pray that they come up with a solution) and I just found myself writing a new song. It is called "AMANI", which in our national language means peace. It calls upon each and everyone of us to accept that mistakes do happen but we should forgive one another, come together and co-exist like we did before. I am fine tuning it and will post it any time from now. Thanks so much Brian. God Bless!

Indeed. The situation has been such that there was absolutley nothing else we could do. Militia roaming the streets (and barricading them!), houses burning, women being raped, innocent people being killed and all sorts of evil!
All one could do was pray..just pray..amnd then pray again! God is listening from up there in Heaven!

Hello! Good to hear from you. Surely we shall know each other better after all this is over!
God has kept Kenya together till now and I know for sure He loves this country! I was very afraid yesterday night about the whole situation..believe me to the point of almost regretting why I was born in Africa (God forgive me) but I remembered the nice times we have had together as Kenyans..the peace loving people who were very friendly to all..the mediators of peace with other African countries..then I thought..if each Kenyan played a part..we could end this violence..I am a gifted songwriter. I prayed for inspiration and wrote a new song at this time of adversity..called "AMANI" which translates to peace. It is in our national language mixed with English for the worldwide audience that I guess I will have soon..when all this is through. Let me send this lyric any time when I can. It will inspire the rest of the world too!

Hi Samuel
I come from a small town called Nakuru in Rift Valley that was one of the worst affected! Only God kept us alive. I saw bodies in the streets..I saw the militia roaming flushing out people from certain communities..I saw fires next door!!! We only prayed and prayed as a family..nothing more we could do. But calm is returning slowly though there is a lot of anxiety and fear still..
I tell all of you that Kenya was the most peaceful country in Africa..true. I just cannot imagine what got into the people's heads that day the results were announced! It is like Satan took over control of the country at that moment! War is the worst thing you can think of. Let me tell you..and it is always somewhere in the thoughts of many..waiting to explode! We should foster peace and unity and nobody should take the other for granted!
I do not wish to say that I know all about how mayhem began..but it seems that there has been a lot of inequality in the society..much more than we even knew before. The level of poverty is appalling! I never even knew that. Then there has been a lot of injustice before but people have been quetly living with hope. The greatest hope lay in Raila Odinga..the one who supposedly won the elections..he has been fighting for the people all through and has been even detained for it!!!
I think when patience ran out and people saw that the gains that had been made democratically are going down the drain(forgive me for rhyiming..this is not a song am singing) then the devils set it and pandemonium broke! The problem is that women and children were affected most..but so many hundreds died, thousands were displaced and others perhaps like me traumatized for ever!!
One last thing I realized is..human beings are human beings allover the world..and they can be savages anywhere in the world..when trouble strikes..there is nothing they cannot do..believe me..no evil that they cannot commit..even in America..it only takes injustice for you to see hell anywhere in the world!
I pray that God grant Kenya more peace than we have ever had, tolerance and love for each other..and let the world learn that danger lurks everywhere on earth here..there is no place that is immune to bloodshed..believe me! Thanks and God Bless!

Hello Everyone. I am glad that I am safe till now. things have eased up a bit but we don't know for how long. We pray that our leaders agree to a political solution. Meanwhile checka rough copy of my latest song "AMANI" which is a call for peace. I wrote in my national language Kiswahili, but have translated for my English speaking audience. It is pasted at Lyric 1 Board.
Thanks to you all for being with me during this 'nightmare'. Suggestions on the song lyric are welcome. it is gonna be done in Reggae! Stay safe too

Yes Frankie, I found your new song on the lyric 1 board. I'll copy it here:
AMANI (Written on 10-01-2008)
Amani, Amani, Amani Means peace and we need it right now Amani, Amani, Amani Our children need to play together And we all want to live the way we used to live together Tushikane mikono kama hapo zamani
Amani, Amani, Amani You could have wronged me, I could have wronged you Amani, Amani, Amani But let’s forgive each other like brother and sister Tusameheane turudi pamoja jamani Yeah, let’s all come together in the spirit of Amani
Amani, Amani, Amani Amani, Amani, Amani
Amani, Amani, Amani Tuache chuki, ukabila tuishi kwa Amani Amani, Amani, Amani Prosperity can only come when we have Amani Great nations are built in the foundation of Amani Equal rights and justice for all our people
Bridge You could be white, you could be black But let’s all pray for Amani You could be young you could be old But let us all sing this song for Amani
TAG Amani, Amani, Amani Means peace and we need it right now Amani, Amani, Amani But let’s forgive each other like brother and sister Amani, Amani, Amani Tushikane mikono kama hapo zamani Amani, Amani, Amani
Copyright © 2008 Francis Juma
Translations 1. Amani – Peace 2. Tushikane mikono kama hapo zamani – Let’s hold hands together the way we used to before 3. Tusameheane turudi pamoja jamani – Let’s forgive each other and come together my people 4. Tuache chuki, ukabila tusihi kwa Amani – Let’s stop hatred, tribalism and live together peacefully

Thank you so much Samuel. God Bless you! I hope as many people as possible can be able to see how important peace is in the society. I avoided talking much about the terrible atrocities here so that it is not alarming and reduces and cools down tension. People have seen the worst here and they would want a little break..but still they've got to get the message!

Amani, Shalom, Pax, may the Peace of God be with you and yours now and always. May you and your country be protected, and God's Grace be with you.
I have a feeling that for each who have written, there are many more who are praying quietly for you and Kenya.

Hi Brenda
Thanks so much for yor prayers..things are getting worse everyday here..children are not going back to school..a majority of people have not gone back to work..commodity prices are rising by the day and yet our political leaders have failed to agree up to now. The opposition is organizing major demonstrations countrywide fom tomorrow and these may turn bloody as has happend before. It is only God that we can cling on. Thanks.

Hello Folks
Thanks so much for your prayers and messages of goodwill. I disappeared and went underground because things went out of control and our lives were in real danger. It was unsafe to leave the house until recently when things seem to be calming down and mediation efforts are going on.
I am back and writing new songs. please check a rewrite of one of my older songs at Lyric 1 Feedback Forum. I will continue writing for as long as I can. thanks and god bless you all!
